  1. Congratulations Adele!!!!

I am in the same boat as you only that my departed later. I just hit 5 months no RFE or any other corespondance so I am hoping I get a text that I have been approved.

Don't worry, you'll get approved, it was just hard to sit and wait without hearing ANYTHiNG from them but I ended up being approved so stay strong and be patient, I wish you all the best!

  2. I received similar letter update when i received my card. You will receive your GC within two to three weeks

actually took an Info pass appointment when I received these status changed, and ask officer to stamp on my passport so I can travel. I got temporary stamp for three months and booked flight to my country, but flight was thru the England and IT required Transit visa, so I booked another flight thru Munich and went, Actual card was mailed to my address and I received when I came back without any problem.

Dont worry you will receive yours within very short time.

    Hey Indian guy,

Thanks for sharing your experience, I was interested in it specifically because my interview based of my approved VAWA has been scheduled for Nov 3rd and i already book my flight for mid-December. Just to be on the safer side, I am planning to get my passport stamped so that i can travel regardless of having my card/ if my card takes longer than 4 weeks to produce.

I know that i can travel with the stamp but I don't understand what an IT means? I will be transiting in Turkey for a few hours (not even leaving the airport). So am kinda worried about why you could not travel through England.

Sorry about the long explanation but Thanks in advance!

  3. Hello my friends,

I've been so busy, First, congrats to all who have recently got approvals and interview letters. my prayers are with you all. And my friends who are waiting, please, please keep the faith, don't give up. Inpeace I got you in my prays always.

Secondly, I did my interview this morning. It went well. the officer was so nice to me...did not ask anything about vawa. It only lasted 5 mins. I am so happy :rofl::rofl: and I give thanks to God who has bought me through this rough patch in my life. I will be sticking around with you guys if anyone needs advice or support. We are all here for each other.

    Blessed always!!!

Am so happy that you thought to share with us how the interview went, since they didn't ask about VAWA, what DO they ask??? Am just confused and secondly, did the officer tell you on the spot that you have therefore been approved/ will get a greencard? Last, did they give u a residency stamp on your passport so that you can use that before you card arrives?

Sorry for the millions of questions but it is nice to have someone like you to ask. Thanks again and Congratulations!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with the rest who are waiting on Approvals and Interviews. Lets continue supporting eachother :star:

  4. Hello Adele , thank you so much for your answer. The reason why I love this forum it is because we are all in the same boat and we all are experiencing the same situation.

I am following your case, ladyg etc because our approval days are very close to each other so If you haven't gotten anything then is normal I hadn't either :)

I am just afraid my attorney will not let me know on time. My attorney mailed me a copy of my notices (VAWA approval, I485 transfer) this past Tuesday and I havne't gotten them yet !!! I can not pick them up myself because the office it's 1:30 minutes away.

Well I will just wait but please as soon as you received your interview letter let us all know it will be really appreciated for all of us waiting for one too.

Thank you. I will keep you and everyone in my prayers . Be positive !!!

:D GOT MY INTERVIEW LETTER!!!! just got this email notification yesterday so Nov 3rd is the big day and i guess i have to wait for the actual letter to know what they will want me to bring to the interview, My Medical should be one of them, AMMMMM SSOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!

Your Case Status: Testing and Interview

On September 30, 2011, we mailed you an appointment notice for an interview for November 3, 2011, at NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER. Please follow the instructions on the notice. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

If your case status indicates that you are currently in this step, you have either been scheduled for an interview or are in line to be scheduled for an interview. The amount of time your application will remain in this step will vary by office and is largely determined by the number of cases ahead of yours. The interview notice will have specifics about time, location and anything you will need to bring to your interview. If your application remains pending beyond our normal processing times (as shown below) please contact our national customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

  5. Hey Adele ,any news about your apportionment letter? I am still waiting ...

    hey Anxious,

I haven't heard anything from them yet regarding the interview notice. Still waiting but i would take EVERYTHING you attorney tell you with a grain of salt.... don't believe that they know everything sometimes u do your own research and in this case, i strongly belive they are WRONG, everyone I know including my lawyer said the interview will be scheduled in a FEW WEEKS not 6months! Even if u call USCIS they'll confirm that unless there is something EXTRA SPECIAL about your case

Otherwise you are on the same track as Yullisa, Ladyg and many more, don't panic :bonk:

  6. Hey guys, i got an email notification saying my I485 has been transferred a USCIS office......what does this mean?????

Your case is transfered to your local office so that they will schedule an interview. So the next correspondence from USCIS will be an interview date for you

we all asked the same question in the previous page (Anxious and I are on the same timeline right after LadyG so she explained to us that the next letter (in 2-6 weeks) will be an interview notice. Am also anxiously waiting for mine because my i485 was transfered on 9/15 :star:

  7. the uscis office there referring to is the NBC when they first sent you that letter of i 485 being transferred to NBC then when you saw that update means they recieved it at NBC(how do i know because i called uscis and the office told me uscis office is NBC where the i 485 was sent) the next updated you will see is " case now pending standard processing at the office to which it was transferred" ,then after 2 weeks or so when they send you an interview letter the status will be updated to "testing and interview" thats where mine is at .Once they send you interview letter in the mean time within 30 days they will transfer your i 485 file to your local office thats where the interview will take place.

thanks so much its really nice to have you going right before me so that you can help calm my nerves :) waiting anxiously for the interview because i already bought my ticket to my country leaving Dec 14th. God Bless you all everyone else going through this confusung process..

Thankyou so much LadyG, I actually just recieved this email notification, what does it mean?

    Receipt Number: EACXXXXXXXX

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

    Your Case Status: Initial Review

The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators.

If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule. Occasionally, you may receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints taken when you have filed a form other than those listed above. In these situations, you may receive your appointment notice more than 30 days after submitting your application or petition.

  9. Hey guys I have a question,

When I filled my i360, EAD and i485, I did not include a medical which i later realised that is necessary so I went ahead and got a medical done about 3months ago but USCIS adviced me not to send it in because i could simply get lost in the mailroom so that I should wait for them to send an RFE or something for the medical. When I talked to another officer, she said that I can just take the medical with me to the interview/ they will ask me to bring it to the interview so that it will not delay the proccess of scheduling an interview.

Who is right? because and just scared that processing my i485 might take forever like my VAWA did :crying:

  10. Thank you so much to you all for sharing this happiness with me. My mom was too tired to celebrate and we work tomorrow so we will save it for Saturday :)

AUG 25,2011 : I485 sent to NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER

    SEP 11,2011 : VAWA APPROVED!!!!

INTERVIEW : I DON'T KNOW YET MY ATTORNEY HAS YET TO CALL ME !!!

INPEACE you are the next !!! I am sending you all my good vibe to you and everyone in this forum :)

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY :) :) :) i knew you would get Anxious; i hate to say it but I TOLD YOU SO :) now we both have to wait for interview dates.. hope they come soon.

Adele you applied a day before me! Oh my, I hope they don't take to long to give me some news...

You will... hang in there, September is our month, it won't pass you by and you are also in my prayers.... and next in line :)

  11. Hello Adele , yes it is a big coincidence that we had our I485 transferred with only 6 days apart and that for security reason we have our mail sent to their office.

If your VAWA is deny , will they send the I485 to National Benefit Center too or they only do it when Vawa is approved? Like I said before I haven't received no RFE or intention to deny... This is so confusing. My attorney may be in vacations too because of the Holiday , I am just praying for quick news .

    hey Anxious,

I don't think they would send it to NBC if it is denied :) My attorney basically told me that my VAWA was approved when i got the transfer letter even though I did not get the approval letter yet. An just like you i had not heard anything since I filled it; no RFEs or anything, it was always on "Initial Review" but that just means that you had everything they wanted, trust me, that approval letter is on the way :)

  12. Congratulations, Adele! I'm very happy for you...

As inpeace mentioned earlier, could you please share your timeline on this forum? It would be very helpful for us....thank you!

Thanks for all your encouragement guys, its nice to have this kind of support because this process is VERY frustrating to say the least.

SO HERE IS MY TIME LINE...

After being married for 4yrs to a LPR and an approved i130, my ex-husband refused to file for Adj of Status and was very abusive to I decided to take the VAWA route...

12/9/2010 = filed VAWA, EAD and i485 together

1/31/2011 = did biometrics for i485 and EAD

2/16/2011 = received EAD and Prima Facie

DID NOT HEAR ANYTHING FOR USCIS AGAIN, no RFE, the case was always on "Initial Review" so this was the most frustrating part...

8/19/2011 = Transfer Notice for my i485 still nothing on my VAWA... Sooo confused

    9/7/2011 = VAWA APPROVED 9 Months later!!!!!

TODAY....... Waiting for an interview letter and hoping it comes soon because I got my ticket to my country yesterday :)

  13. Thank you so much for your support. For security reasons my mail is sent to my attorney's office. I haven't gotten any news from my attorney so far and it's been 11 days since I saw the update!! My attorney always calls me to let me know what's going on with my case, like when my second prima facie was accepted and when my EAD arrived to the office , so right now I am sooooooooo anxious as to why I have no news from my attorney yet!!!!

And don't worry I will keep you all updated, good or bad , I will let you all know what's going on. I am a nervous wreck right now :S but I will wait for my attorney to call me until 9/15 if not I will call to the office myself to find out. I will keep you all informed. I wish good news for all of us and soon!!!

OMG, am reading this and can't help but notice that am in the exact same boat, 8/19/2011 my i485 case was transfered and i was soooo confused, 9/7/2011 I got the letter of approval for the VAWA :) But my attorney is on leave for 2 months and i also recieve mails there for security reasons. As much as am confident her associates will let me know if any updates come through, am nervous that i might be called for the interview and miss it if they dont check my mails in time. I wanna try and keep calling to remind them to check the mail but I dont know how long it takes to get an interview... Does Anyone know how long it takes after the approval to get an interview?

  14. So 9 months do the day i filled my VAWA, i recieved my approval letter in the mail :))))

My excitment is over the roof but so is my rate of confusion :() On 8/19/2011 before the VAWA was approved, i got a Transfer Notice stating that preliminary processing of my i485 was completed and that it was transfered from Vermont to Lee Summit, MO though i live in NY.

About 2 weeks later i get my approval Notice on my VAWA, what happens now?

I filled my i485 and VAWA concurrently so am gessing an interview should follow from here. How long does it take for me to be called for an interview? Is it another 4months because thats the processing time line online and what is the structure/content of the inquiry for a i485 interview based on VAWA?

Any info will be extreemly helpful as I don't have a lawyer at this point. Thanks in Advance!!!

  15. Hey everyone!

So here's my story, arrived in the US on a B1 to visit my boyfriend, we decided to get married 2 months later before my i94 expired but he was a Green Card holder so he filled i130 only since I didn't qualify for Adjstment of Status.

4yrs later my i130 is approved and my husband is already a US Citizen but things violently fell apart and I filled for i485, EAD and VAWA 12/2010. EAD got approved, VAWA and i485 still on "Initial Review"

I finally got a full scholarship and got an opportunity to study abroad next Spring 1/2012. I expected my VAWA to be done by now but that's not the case and at this rate am not sure when that will happen.

Anywayy my question is, if I apply for Advance Parole can I leave the US?

  16. I understand your frustration about the inability to get any info regarding the case coz it's a VAWA. I haven't had any change in mine for over 7months now and any attempt to inquire has been a headache.

I filled my EAD with a i485 so I guesss that helped speed up things. I realised that this is a very draining process where most of the time you are always helpless.

Wish u the best and I pray you hear something soon

  17. How did u get vawa approved so quickly?? I requested expedite but no response. Will they approve my 2aD before my vawa is approved??

I was looking at the timeline and had the same question in mind??? how did you get your VAWA approved so quickly?

Anyway Chelsea, if it is any consolation, my VAWA has not been touched in over 7months now, i have renewed my Prima Facie but my VAWA still say initial review. I filled i360, EAD and i485 on 12/09/2010, my EAD was approved and sent to me on 02/16/2011 so hang in there. Some people talk about having their cases "TOUCHED" but mine has never been touched in 7months, i requested for an expedite and to renew my Prima Facie and they sent another Prima Facie but still no respose even when my Lawyer sent an inquiry.

Am very anxious, keep waiting/ not sure what to expect... You are not alone....
