Hi,
A green card is for living in the US, not for visiting your husband as you stated. LPRs do not visit the US; they are required to live here.
If you want to be outside the US temporarily for longer than 6 months, then you should get a Re-Entry Permit. This requires a biometric in the US.
Best of luck
Aaron2020,
Thank you for your response. Yes, I agree with your explanation of what LPRs are to do....
It is temporary that I have to be outside of the States to finish my medical residency program. And throughout the program I am planning on visiting my back in the States every 4-5 months. Which will not require me to get a Re-Entry Permit.
My main question is about the advanced parole, to find out if I still have to in the country before December 20th or not.
Thanks

Hello everybody,
You all have been very helpful throughout this entire journey. I got my "green card" valid for two years. It is conditional because it is through my husband.
Now, I have another question!!!
Back in August, I obtained Advanced Parole to be able to leave the country on an emergency case (visit sick family member who passed, also continue my medical residency overseas) while my case was pending at USCIS. My Advanced Parole requires me to be back in the states before December 20th. As I mentioned earlier, part of the reason why I got advanced parole was to pursue my medical residency overseas. It is two year program. In the meantime, USCIS processed my case and mailed my green card to my address in the states 2-3 weeks ago. My husband now has my green card. I am currently overseas in residency program.
My question is: Do I still have to come back in the states before December 20th to fulfill the advanced parole requirements, or does having a green card make the advanced parole loose its effect? Obviously, I am planning on coming back to visit my husband soon here, but I would rather not come in December, come in February or so.
I thank you all for all your help or suggestions as to where I could get a right answer in this situation.

We are in exactly the same position as you. November filers and our RFE was received on Jan 20th, heard nothing since then. We called USCIS a few times over the last few months, most recently a few days ago, and they said as we are still within processing times there is nothing they can do. One nice lady did put in a service request and the result was just that we are waiting to be scheduled for interview, although the USCIS website hasn't been updated show this. The new processing dates are released at the end of this month I think, so hopefully we will then be able to do something. Until then, we're kinda powerless. But if we're in the same boat, I'd say this is normal and we are just unlucky for not having heard sooner like so many others have.
Fishandchips78, thank you for your reply. It sure looks like USCIS is taking too long to process AOS on these days. On June 15, we called USCIS, they put in a service request. We're supposed to hear back from USCIS within 30 days, which expired on July 15th.
We called back yesterday (16th) and One nice man checked everything for us and confirmed that YES USCIS never responded to the service request. So, he put in another one, this time waiting period is going to be 15 days! Ugh... Lets see what happens now. We hope to hear SOMETHING by the end of this month.
Good luck to you too.

Hello All,
We are November 2014 filer too. USCIS received the paperwork on November 20th. We then received RFE and sent back whatever was asked by USCIS. RFE was received on January 7th. On USCIS web site it said we should hear back within 60 days (about March 8th). We still have NOT heard anything back from USCIS. Is it normal for it to take this long?
Thank you All.

Hello MikeNZ1984.
I am just checking to see if you have any update since your last comment? We STILL have NOT heard anything from USCIS.
Thanks
I filed on the same day, also had an RFE, also done my fingerprints ...
I'm still waiting for my interview notice as well... there are a few of us in the same position. Then again, I've also got a friend who filed a few days earlier than me and got his green card a month ago!

Hello All.
My wife and I mailed our I-485 back in November 14'. Got NOA1 saying the paperwork received. She got her fingerprints done also. Later on we received a letter saying more paperwork required. We mailed that back and NBC received our response on January 7, 2015. We have not heard nor received anything since then.
Question:
Is this usually how long it takes for NBC/MSC to process the case? Because on of the paperwork it says we should hear back from MSC within 60 days. It sure is more than 60 days by now.
I thank you all for your input.
Blessings....

Hello Everyone,
My wife and I have filed I485 back in November 14' (Adjusting from K-1 visa, now married), got the fingerprints done. Received a letter requesting more paperwork. We responded to it and National Benefit Center received our response mail on January 7, 2015.
We haven't heard anything since then?
Question is: Is this typically how long it takes? Because on of the letters it says, we should hear back within 60 days. It sure is more than 60 days by now.
Thank you all for your response.
Blessings....

Hello All,
Quick question in regards to visa fee payment. Isn't there any way that we can pay the visa fee without having to be in Georgia? My fiancé has to schedule an interview at US Embassy in Georgia. It seems to me that She will have to make more than one trip to Tbilisi, Georgia. The web site says the visa fee has to be paid at one of the designated bank in Tbilisi.
Any idea how we can pay this fee overseas?
Thank you very much.

Thank you very much Michela21413
Always, as soon as you hear the busy signal. Quickly hang up and redial, sometimes it takes me 20 retries before I get through. I called and spoke to someone everyday. Just press 1 as sion as it picks up

Hello All,
On May 16, USCIS approved our petition (I-129F) and forwarded to NVC. I have not heard anything from NVC as of today. I have been trying to call NVC, it seems like the number is always busy.
Any idea? I am calling 1 603 334-0770. Has anybody had any luck with his/her phone call?
Thanks for all your input. I want to make sure my file does not end up sitting at the US Embassy without me knowing about it.
Thanks.

Now that it has been two weeks and I have not heard from NVC yet, today I started calling NVC phone line (number they have on their web site). It keeps showing that they are busy. Any idea?
I want to make sure I get my paperwork together before NVC directs the case to the US embassy overseas.
Thanks everybody for your input.

Hello,
Quick question please. May be somebody will have answer for me.
On May 16th, USCIS approved my I-129F Petition and it was then sent to NVC. I have not heard anything from NVC yet. I am reading on VJ that sometimes NVC mails the package to the designated US Embassy overseas before the petitioner receives the notice. So, I want to know what would be my best option. Go ahead and call NVC, wait or what?
Thank you all.

Thank you very much sweet cakes:).
... I couldn't edit my earlier response. Just noticed your thread title. My apologies, OP. For K1s, it used to be 2-3 weeks from NOA2. But recently, I read that NVC has been having some lag and 30 days appears to be their new processing times for getting a case number.
-
Hello Everyone,
The USCIS online status shows approval on the filed petition. It says it is being directed to National Visa Center.
Quick question: Any idea how long does this whole NVC process take? I am just trying to be proactive and ready for the final interview day.
Thanks everyone for all your help.

Hello Everyone,
I was asked to provide extra paperwork for my K1 petition from CSC. I have already express mailed what was requested. Today my case was updated saying "USCIS has received the RFE on May 14". Does anybody have any idea how many more days (approx.) till the NOA2 (if there is no need for more RFE)?
Thanks everyone.

Send your fiancee this link. It contains the detailed information on how/where to get it (in russian): http://petrovka38.ru/gumvd/uslugi/354/
Thank you very much Kefir10. I just sent the link to her. Hopefully, She will be able to get this done soon. I know it takes time to get things done in that part of the world

You go to the police force that has jurisdicion where she is.
Typically the large city police forces have established systems for this. You follow their system and should expect no trouble,
Thank you very much for your response. I just talked with her. She said she was told (at the police station) that our embassy in Russia handles this. I have never heard such a thing. Embassy doesn't handle police record certificates, does it?
Deep sighhhhhhh here....

Hello,
I hope somebody has an answer to my question in this forum. My foreign born fiancee studies in Moscow, Russia as an international student. Given that she has lived there for 6 years she will need to get a police certificate from Russia as well (K1 visa interview prep). Where do we address to get this piece of paper? Is the school supposed to give it? My country's embassy in Russia or I have no clue. She also went to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' (MVD in Russian) office, unfortunately nobody knew how to help her there either.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

Is your paperwork being processed by TSC or CSC?
I keep hearing that CSC processing time is faster. Is that a myth or what?
If your NOA1 was last month, get ready to wait until August or so
5 months is the USCIS average processing time. Sit back, relax, and don't worry too much. That's what I keep telling myself! I'm a January filer. I'll start getting antsy if I don't hear anything by the end of June.

Anyone else is waiting for his/her NOA2 among I129F march/14 Filers? NOA1 arrived, Alien # adjusted, have not heard anything since then. Any thought would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi, I don't get your idea, you had a wedding ceremony in the Philippines but you did not sign the marriage contract, what's the point? I don't know if there's any sense to have a wedding ceremony and not signing the marriage contract. Ive read some posts here too like what you guys did. So I want to know the reason why.. ?
Thank you
Jen90, It can be for so many reasons. If a person was born in the Philippines, he/she sure wants all the family members, friend, etc... participate at the wedding. So, I personally think that nothing is wrong if someone has a wedding party in his/her native country and gets married in the US (has another party here too) where the marriage certificate is signed.

Hi all,
To find a better job I need to have my Polish teaching degree evaluated by a member of NACES. Their website lists several companies offering this kind of service: http://www.naces.org/members.html
Does anyone have any experience with these companies? Did your eveluation work to your advantage?
I know this is just the first step and I'm sure I will have more questions soon. I don't expect it to be an easy process but I really have to face it. Thank you very much for your help.

Did you receive your NOA1 from TSC or CSC?
I have noticed that some folks mailed their petitions to TSC, but got their NOA1 from CSC. In this case, are they supposed to follow TSC or CSC timeline?
Thanks.
Since I've got our NOA1, I've been checking how TSC and CSC process the visas. And I'm so dissapointed in how USCIS manages things between these two. There is NO equality. While March filers at CSC get approved in April, in TSC December filers are still waiting... Why so unfair?! Why doesn't anyone do anything about this??
And their speed is increadibly different, too. Whilte CSC approves aprx. 10 visas a day, or maybe more in terms of VJ data, Texas hasn't been approving ANY since last week. What is going on??
I'm really dissapointed. And I think only TSC filers can understand how I feel. It's been 3 weeks since we've applied, but I already know I'll wait for at least 5 months. This is so unfair... It's gotten to the point that seeing CSC approvals make me depressed and sad. Why is the USA doing this to us?
I always thought the USA is so proud of it's equality and stuff... I wish I could see that.
