  1. Hi

My sister who is a US citizen and is married to a non-us citizen living in pakistan for past 6 years just gave birth. I wanted to know is that child considered US citizen? Or will she have to file a petition for her newborn. If yes whats the proper procedure of filling the form?

Follow this link to file the appropriate paperwork if your US citizen sister meets the residency requirement.

    Eligibility for Citizenship

Eligibility for citizenship must be documentarily proven before a CRBA is issued. The following eligibility criteria apply to children born after November 14, 1986 and who are under the age of 18. A child born before November 14, 1986 or over the age of 18 is ineligible for a CRBA, but may still be eligible for a passport and citizenship. Contact the Embassy for more information.

A child born in wedlock to 2 U.S. citizen parents is a citizen as long as one of the parents has resided in the US sometime prior to the child’s birth.

A child born in wedlock to one U.S. citizen parent and one alien parent is a citizen as long as the US Citizen parent was present in the U.S. for 5 years prior to the child’s birth, two of which were after age 14.

    *

A child born out of wedlock to a U.S. citizen mother is a citizen as long as the mother was physically present in the U.S. continuously for 12 months at any time prior to the child’s birth.

    *

A child born out of wedlock to a U.S. citizen father is a citizen as long as paternity is clearly and convincingly established, the child is legitimated for the purpose of citizenship, and the father commits to financially support the child. The father must have been physically present in the U.S. for 5 years prior to the child’s birth, two of which were after age 14.

Thank you so much. This was actually very helpful.

  2. NO AP for my wife. She passed the interview. Alhamdulilah. Questions were very basic such as when did we meet the first time, how many times have i visited my wife after the wedding, what did i send my wife for her first birthday?

My wife said the CO was a very nice lady. She didnt look at any pics, email logs or phone records. The interview lasted less than 20 minutes. They told my wife that AMEX will be calling her within a week and she will be able to pick up her passport.

Goodluck to all who's interview is in near future.

    Thanks

    Asher

  3. "Everyone in Islamabad is under AP" ?

What does Al Queda have to do with this, anyways??

Guys: I have a question. Looks like most of male are going through AP at ISL embassy. Is it the same for females? My wife's interview is on june 30th and i wanted myself and her to be ready IF godforbid we go to AP.

For all the people on AP inshallah it will be over soon and you will be reunited with ur loved ones.

    Thanks
