  1. Confused? Yes.

    Excited? maybe...

    Suspicious? Very!

And so coming up to a year since my successful interview pending name check, i receive a letter asking me to come in for further biometrics on september the 5th. This is in order to further my case apparently. Of course the fact that i just got biometrics for my workcard just a few months ago dosent seem to mean anything. Apparently i should stop getting these hand transplants...

Anyway, the confusion part is that today i got a email saying that on august the 17th they ordered production on my card... Is this a woo hoo jump around on the ground type moment? I think ive become numb to the whole process.

Why would they need biometrics if they are already making my card? Unless of course its an early xmas card, or a very very late birthday card....

    Who knows anymore

  2. Yep i got touched on march the 17th, but it was only someone looking for just the right sized file to prop up their wobbly desk. And my visa runs out at the end of june, yes i know im a idiot, i meant to renew in early march but i got caught up in that thing called real life that immigration people believe we dont have.

Anyway why do we file in chicago when it says file at your local office? Or does chicago send it too your local office? If not which processing times do we check?? Aghhh i forgot about this hopeless feeling......

  3. sorry to be horribly off topic in a on-topic kinda way, but since im waiting for a namecheck, i would pick option C9 for my EAD renewal right??? Since my status adjustment application is still technically pending... And then it would be mailed to my local office, detroit???

Jeez, so long without forms i forget how it all works.......

..or fails to work i should say,

And on the day i noticed my case got touched for the first time since xmas, ill prepare my next 180 dollar cheque.

  4. Sorry maybe i should change my profile, my fiance/now wife set it up ages ago, but me the male beneficiary uses it. So yeah, im the potential green card holder. So would it be ok to go by myself, will be so much easier to arrange without either of us trying to scrounge time off work.

What really gets me is that fed-ex managed to get name and driving record checks from 3 different countries within the space of 5 days when they hired me. Ahhh the power of money.....

  5. Merry Xmas all

My three months are up since my interview, is it best to call or book an infopass?

And do both people have to goto the infopass appointment???? We both work different shifts, and im slightly more enthusiastic about dealing with more immigration officials than she is at xmas time <_<

Plus they might see me as a potential good standing american citizan if i turn up before or afterwork in my Fed-Ex uniform!!!

  6. I was just wondering (in a desperate bid to explain this process) if anyone has a more common name than mine?

    Andrew Smith

Cause surely thats keeping every backwoods fbi station in every single state busy...

Oh and on a side note, i just got a job at fed-ex, where they had to send my lovely name for (what i was told) was a fbi namecheck for america, and checks in the both canada and england where i have lived in the past.

    It took a week.

    .....Ahhh the power of money

  7. I think my NOA1 was 13th april, i cant remember the exact finger printing date because they took the letter.

Im pretty sure it was around julyish though.

Do they update your online case status with "approved subject to name check" or anything? Because mine hasnt changed from their responce to my RFE way back in june...

It would be nice to have something in black and white to check now and then.

  8. Well i think the problem was that she thought she had checked my case but she didnt. "Monday morning" was her exact excuse. But she said that she was shocked that my check hadnt gone through and was gonna resubmit my case to double check. Like i said, she said i would have been called back once she realised she screwed up, so i dont think there was any big conspiracy just cause i said out of relief that i was glad the namecheck had gone through, because i had heard it could take months. I cant deal with conspiracies right now, its depressing enough to wait for simple paperwork.

  9. i know i know im a idiot, im just naturally inquisitive and was wondering how a stupid name check could hold everything up. I just hope i didnt make her too suspicious, i couldnt tell if her smile was friendlyness or professional acting. Anyhow i offered her another copy of my UK police certificate but she said thats not relevant since its only a usa check.

I just hope its sorted by xmas so i can go home for once..... :crying:

  10. Oh dear my big mouth.......

We had our AOS today in detroit.

    Passed with flying colours!

The lady was really nice and friendly, stamped my passport........

.....and stupid stupid me said, well im glad i passed my FBI name check after the horror stories ive been reading.

Oh (she said looking at me suspiciously), ill just check for you again...

Bummer she says. I guess it didnt go through yet afterall. Stamp gets crossed out, work card given back.

    :(:(

Then stupid me asks if the check is just for america or england as well, and she says maybe i should review your case if your acting so suspicious. She had a smile on her face, but now im paranoid i screwed myself even more. But i guess if its an outside agency they dont have any control over it. I spose when you are blessed with a common name like andrew smith your name gets around a bit. I told her that this website just made me paranoid. I hope she dosent black mark my name even more! Anyhow she said ill get a letter when its done, so at least we passed the interview.

Anyhow she also said that we would have been recalled back to immigration when they had realised their error so my big mouth served a purpose at least. Still it sucks.

    Permit me to shout AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

  11. Thanks for the advice....

And moving on from the fact we somehow blatently missed the instruction to mail in the NOA2, does anyone know what the I-171 (notice of approval from the consulor office) form is?

I only remember getting the actual visa, not a letter of approval with it. I do have the letters from the embassy giving my interview date and telling me they are starting to process my visa, but is this enough do you think?

At the moment my RFE that ive prepared to send back includes copies of my NOA2, these embassy letters, my k1 visa and my i-94.

Is this enough does anyone think?

Oh and does anyone have the american visa type people hotline number? I might check with them...

    Thanks again.

  12. So im patiently waiting for my detroit office to issue my work authorization and AOS which we filed back in early april....

Now the bad news. We got a Request for additional evidence on the I-485.

A- (1 & 2) Submit evidence that an immigrant visa petition has been filed on your behalf. Such evidence includes a copy of the I-797 Notice of Action on Form I-129F (Petition for alien fiance), Form I-130 (petition for alien relative), or form I-360 (petition for amerasian, widow(er) or special immigrant), and/or a copy of form I-171 (notice of approval from the consular office).

Aagghhhh what anger and frustration at the pointlessness of this request, i mean surely they realise i have a visa? There was a photocopy of it from my passport in the evidence i submitted. Also they were the ones that sent me the letters in the first place! Dont they have records? Dont they talk to other departments? Is the whole system insane?

Anyway my question is, Has anyone had this before? What did they send back exactly?

I have found my I-797 from the initial form I-129F form, but im not sure what the I-171 form is?

I have the letter from the london embassey when they gave me an interview date, i have the letter from the london embassy when they said they are beginning to process my fiance visa case and to get my medical and i have the letter from the london embassy informing they have recieved a approved visa petition on my behalf.

Yet none of these are labeled I-171 or have the official looking american stamp thing on the top, they are just letters straight from the london embassy.

Does anyone know what this letter is? Do you think i should just photocopy all of those letters from the london embassy and hope they believe that?

Oh and happy memorial day..... :(
