  1. why is "dam do" a 7-8 month process? it's just to mourn the day your grandfather died. would be a major downer if you have to plan it for a few months :)

oh it's not a 7-8 month process, i'll be planning to vacation there for 6-8 months and the dam yo just happens to be on the 7th month of my stay there.

  2. Why don't you get a 5 year visa exemption? I had one done 2 years back. It was $40.

Wow 5 years? To be honest with you I'm staying there for about 7-8 months with my parents as my mom wants to do the I don't know how to spell it but I think it's "dam yo" for my grandpa. But if it's only 40$ for the exemption I think I'll have a look into it.

  3. Not likely they will grant a 6 month as that is uncommon for some time now.. Get the 3 month and then just go to get it renewed when you are there for an additional 3 months at a time. alot cheaper than a 6 month would have been back when they were still issuing them...

Oh I see, so I can just renew the visa every three months, if I wish to stay longer?

or is there a limit to how many times I can renew the visa as a tourist?

  4. Hi, I am new to this forum and I was wondering if any of you could tell me what is the maximum amount of time I could extend my stay in Vietnam?

I am planning to stay there a little over 6 months but there are somethings that don't quite add up for me. My travel agent said that I had two options for the time stay in Vietnam either 3 months or 6 months. While calling a customer service at a vietnamese travel service the representative said that the visa application stay time was reduced once again only allowing me to stay 3 months, but I could extend it another 3 months .. any more he was not sure of as there are other factors involved.

I'm not completely ignorant to the process of visa applications but I do class myself as a total noob. So any help from you guys is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
