  1. Just wanted to share that my wife successfully passed her interview in Tokyo! It was such a painless and pleasant experience. To all of my fellow members who's going to have their interview in Tokyo, I have posted a review of the interview process under the Japan Embassy Info. Hope it helps! Good luck to everybody and thanks for the much helpful info!

Congrats! Thanks for the embassy/interview review. I'll have to pass the details along to my wife.

  2. We were with VSC for the first step and I'm not personally certain that we have our files processed any quicker. The first time I spoke with an operator she said our file was received at NVC on 8/1 and will be worked on soon. On Monday I tried a operator and she just said it was received recently and was being worked on now, still no case number today though. We are up to 18 business days if the claim that our file was received on 8/1 was actually true.

Hopefully you get your case # soon.

I've read that they received cases in batches from the service centers. I tracked CSC cases to see how that was progressing. I was trying to get more info and insight for the people @ VSC since I didn't really track it as much. If it really means that they send in big boxes and such that maybe someone that received their case number, that mine would come soon as well. Those were the lines of thinking on that.

  3. I apologize that i mingled with the CSC filers. The thread had no specifications as to who is allowed to post other than August 1st NVc. My understanding is that at NVC it does not matter which USCIS office you were approved from...just my understanding

There is no need to be so territorial ...some people are luckier than others but that does not mean that they get far with a crappy attitude

I had no intention to sound condescending or to be territorial. I was just trying to point out the differences of the timelines I've read between the two service centers. I was trying to get input from others who have had their petitions filed to the VSC. Congrats on receiving your NVC case #.

  4. I am getting frustrated. I keep calling and no case number yet. I have read that some members here get more info that " we have your case but no case number. call back in 2-4 weeks" when they speak to customer service rep. What do you ask them? How do you get them to tell you more than the standard answer?

I just noticed yotu petition was filed at VSC. I would say most of the others on this thread were filed at CSC.

From what I've read it seems like the VSC has had their files processed faster than the CSC.

Could anyone else comment on that?

On another note, is anyone that has their file from the CSC received August 1st still awaiting their case number from NVC?

I received my case # and IIN late last night.

  5. Did your wife type out the official statement that I posted, word for word? I'm just confused whether to have (conversant) in the statement as in the example.

I believe the translation said something like:

I hereby declare the translation of this document accurate and true or something like that

my documents are at home so i can't check them at the moment.

but from the I-130 instructions itself:

Translations. Any foreign language document must be accompanied by a full English translations that the translator has certified as complete and correct, and by the translator's certification that he or she is competent to translate the foreign language into English.

I would say as long as the statement says that the translation is correct and the translator is competent, you could just say she is fluent (if she really is fluent), but if not I would say conversant. But that's just my opinion.

Maybe it does depend on the country that the translations need to be certified, but I know my wife wrote a similar statement on the documents and signed them.

I'm not quite sure if they took into consideration that my wife did go to school here, but it seemed to be ok for them.

  6. i calle again today and no case number yet

I sent an e-mail on thursday and no reply to that e-mail either.

    Any upates from you guys

I haven't called or checked today, but I don't have high expectations of them getting my case number in on a Monday. I was thinking of waiting until wednesday. I did receive a generic email response from nvcinquiry, so again... not expecting too much right now.

  7. Thank you :) Anybody else know the answer to my question #2?

My wife did the translations for our documents and it was approved.

As long as that person is fluent is should be ok (conversant just really means that they can hold a coherent conversation in that language).

Just make sure that the translated document has the disclaimer attached or even on the translated document itself.

  8. My I-130 was received at NVC August 1st....Just called and no case # yet...the lady said 10-20 business days...its been 15 business days...so they better give me a case # by next Friday August 26th....lol good luck to all, this waiting is blahhhh

I have a feeling most of us will receive our case numbers next week considering that case numbers have been filtering through.

Of course we're all hoping our file isn't the one at the bottom of the pile, we just need to be patient.

I know it sounds cliche, but a watched pot never boils.

  9. I was advised not to get the Police records just yet because there is an expiration date attached based on the NVC's stardards. It is only good for a time period as the person can do it now and committ crime next day and that crime not show up because the document was already submitted. Just wait for the NVC..IMO, then you can proceed.

I was thinking the same thing, just hoping that NVC gets their butts in gear and get my case in for next week (which should be 15 business days). Just trying to will it to happen.

  10. Just a casual question for my fellow June filers - how much do you tell your friends and family about the details of the visa process, or are they interested at all? Quite a few of my friends seem quite interested and I tell them that most of it is just waiting and they seem a bit disappointed!

My coworkers ask me all the time about my filing status, considering I do see and talk to them more than I do my immediate family. I don't know about everyone else (June Filers), but I already got my NOA2 not very long after I received my NOA1. I think my coworkers are more excited than I am... I don't want to get too excited and have everything blow up in my face.
