I am a tad confused about whether I did something wrong or not in this case. In January 2008 was a F-1 student at the end of my OPT after my undergrad when I decided to propose to my girlfriend at the time. At this point I had already applied for grad school and returned to my country for a few months while waiting for the admission letters (note that my primary intent of return was indeed going to grad school). I was granted a F-1 visa and returned to the States in August, subsequently married in October. I finished my Masters quite successfully and then started the adjustment of status process when I started my Masters' OPT recently(as a grad student stipend is not quite enough to pay for the fees). Did I do something wrong by not filing for a K-1 first? Does this mean I entered with intent to marry under another visa? I really did intend and wanted to go to grad school and I did not marry immediately because we wanted to know if we could actually live together and deal with graduate school at the same time.
