We applied for our passport renewals exactly 3 months ago in DC and according to the embassy website, the passports are not ready for pickup. The website states "check back in a few weeks". So, it seems like 3 months is not accurate.

02/01/13 AOS packet received in Chicago per USPS tracking (express mail)

02/12/13 NOA1 text/email received at 12:02am this morning

Now waiting for letters in the mail with official NOA1/EAD/Biometrics etc.

Forgot to mention the check has NOT been cashed yet, despite receiving the email/text NOA last night.

We sent our AOS packet to the express mail address (Chicago) on 1/31/13, it was received (according to USPS) Friday 2/01/13. Still waiting for NOA1 text/email...and still waiting for check to be cashed...
