  1. Hello, my husband was approved. They asked for new I864. I sent only mine with my CD acct. They asked for another sponsor. Now my father will sponsor. He does not live with me, what will he check on #1.

    e. I am the only sponsor or

    d. I am the ___1st ___2nd of two jopint sponsors. They have all my information already. Any help thanks, everytime I read I understand differnetly. Thanks

  2. Let me say I filled ou the I864 for my husband and I am short $1300. I sent copies of my bank CD acct $29,000 but they sent an email saying they needed a cosponsor as I did not quailfy. I am not sure if because I did not send the letter from my bank stating how much and when this CD acct was opened. So my father will be cosponsor. He does not live with me and we do not need my moms income. But they file taxes joint. My questions do we put both incomes on line#23 from his social security(SSA-1099 14,694.) and his pension (1099-R 14,889.) because it is taxable and non taxable. How would I explain because his taxes only show 14,889.(taxable) and on the left side out of the column #20a. is the non taxable(14,694.) Hope you understand or maybe you can help guide where I can get help. Thanks

  3. Hello, I need help to fill out the I864. My father will petion my husband. He receives social security and his pension. He does joint married taxes and my mother gets social security as well. How would they fill out this form? On the line(#23current individual annual income) where it asks for gross income do I put taxable(pension) and non taxable income(ss) combined? And if only my father is petitioning how do I go about that? Thanks inadvance and if you can guide me where I can see these samples or where I can get more help great...

  4. You put how many people you are sponsoring. Pretty simple. 1 person if its just your husband/wife. If they have kids then the number would be larger.

Check out the example form. http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-I-864.pdf

We put 1 because thats the number that came up on the boxes and he was only filing for me. We filled out the form just like the example form. No RFE, no issue, approved without interview.

  5. Not an option. If you receive alimony, that's a different story (it's considered income and you would have to report it on your taxes).

Skiptex is 100% correct, child support is strictly for your kids, nothing else.

I understand it is for my kids, I DO provide for them. Not that I go and party or spend it all on me. But it is income it was a simple question. Thank you for all your responses. :)

  6. Sounds like the CO wants more total income plus assets, so the bank letter might not be enough unless his real issue was whether or not the $$ were really yours. I'd ask your parents if they will sponsor him, and if so, you can start down that path. Read about I-864 and I-864A to see which applies to your situation, and fill out a sample copy with your parent's information to see if everything works.

Thank you, my parents do not live with me. So I think they need to fill out the I864. Is this correct? Also if they do joint taxes, would I need both there information(signature) or just my fathers(as in copy of there citizenship certificate and ID, they do not have a passport. Thanks

  7. Now if my father makes enough with his pension and SS (28000.00)can he sponsor him? My dad does his taxes joint with my mom, but she only gets abot $7500.00 a yr in SS. My father actually makes about 28000.00 in both a yr alone. Would he be filling the form out and will my mom need to fill it out as well? not sure how that would work. Thanks and sorry to be such a bother.

Also I am only short $1300.00 for the yr and how he is my spouse I believe it must be X3 only.

  8. They didn't accept the copies, or they didn't accept because you didn't have enough $$ in the CD account--very different situations. Remember that assets have to be 3X the minimum income level. So for example, let's say your income was $5000 short, you would need $15,000 in your CD to make up the difference, and if it just barely covers the difference, it is common for the CO to want more income or assets or a joint sponsor, so take a hard look at your financials to see if you make the cut, and by how much.

Oh sorry, I did not clarify. THere is $29,000.00 in the CD acct. I believe they just did not acept the copies. So they asked for a new sponsor. Can I just send them this bank letter showing how much is in each acct? Or do you suggest I find a new sponsor? Thank you

  9. Hello, my husband was approved in Sept. I have to send proof of a CD Investmant acct. What is the best proof I can send? He turned in the new I864 as I am sponsoring him. All I had where copies of my online banking and a copy from the bank and they did not accept. They are asking for another sponsor. I do not know anyone that can help. My parents are on SS and they do not qualify plus they did not do 2010 income taxes. What else can I send as they are asking for another sponsor because I do not meet the income. Any help greatly appriciated. Thanks, Cecy

  10. ***** Removed several duplicate threads *****

You only need to make enough for the immigrants currently approved; so 4 for your husband, and when your stepson gets approved in a few months, 5.

How much of his house does your father still own? If with the reverse mortgage, an institution now owns the house and hbe "rents", then he cannot use it as an asset.

I believe he still owns it .... once he dies the house is the banks unless one of his children want to buy it. Hey still pays his taxes on it every year. He has no monthly payment any more.

  11. I am under the amount for a family of 4, I have money in my savings for my husband once we have to send a new affidavit of support. My husband is currently waiting on waiver in Honduras. Now I will send the I130 for my stepson will I have to make more for a family of 5 now for both? Hope I am clear enough. And my next question, my father has a house but he did a reverse mortgage can this house be included as his assets as a co sponsor with his Social security and his pension? Thanks, Cecy
