Today was the day! I finally had my Oath ceremony and I'm officially a US citizen. My journey on VJ is now over, but I will follow your progress guys and truly wish everyone who are still waiting a faster process! You will get there!
-
Received a letter with my Oath date today, it will be on Nov 19.
Will someone please update it for me? Thank you!
-
Got an email and a text that I was scheduled for the oath ceremony. Can't wait to receive a letter with the date.
-
Good that you got it sorted out.
What was everyone's time between interview approval and updated status online for oath ceremony? Not the ceremony date itself, but how long after the interview did you hear from USCIS?
My interview was on Oct 1st which i passed, but nothing changed online till Oct 13, thats when I got an email saying they put me in line for Oath. So the status changed to Oath Ceremony. Still waiting on the good news when they will actually schedule it

Finally I got interview letter today, 12/2 . Pls update me
I have a question abt checklist they ask " proof of marital union as well as proof of residence" , so What proof document do i have to bring ??
Thanks .
I had my interview on Oct 1. I brought with me every possible thing that i could imagine, original and photocopies. The supporting marriage documents were: marriage license, joint apartment lease, joint bank statements, joint health insurance and car insurance, a few photos, various joint utility bills. I brought all of that plus mine and hubbies passports, my GC, his divorce certificate from previous marriage, some documents required translations, so i brought those too. That was probably more then necessary, but I wanted to have absolutely everything on me, in case if they need anything. At the interview, I was only asked for GC and my passport, they did not check my hubbies passport or any of the supporting documents. I feel like it is always better to be prepared, because God forbid they will ask for something and then it only delays the process :/ Good Luck!!

I called on the 14th just to check and I received an email (no text though) on the 15th that they sent the interview letter out.
Expect an update/text/email soon.
Does anyone know if the interview is normally about a month from when the interview letters are scheduled?
I'm due to give birth towards the end of January 2015 and I'm hoping that the interview/oath process will take place before then.
I know NYC is backlogged but what are the chances of me being done with all of the process before the year is up?
Yes, from my own experience and other people timelines, I noticed it's about a month. When I received my notice, it was about 4.5 weeks till interview. Regarding Oath, it's all so random, try to find other people who had theirs in the same city, that will give you an idea.

On October 13, 2014, we placed your application in the oath scheduling que. Woohoo. Getting closer..

This might be a stupid question..but what if you were pulled over for speeding, but it was only a verbal warning. Nothing else? Is that to be disclosed too?
No, you dont. I actually had 3 tickets that I didn't pay from few years back, so as a punishment my license was suspended for a year last year. I did not disclose that, not because I wanted to hide, but I didn't think its an arrest or detention. I just had my interview, and the officer asked me again if I had anything, on what I said no. She was very nice so I decided to ask her if I had to desclose in the aplication my situation, on what she answered that technically "yes" but she didn't correct anything in my form, and only thanked me for being honest. Good luck with your process!

Hey guys, Is there any rule of thumb on how long do we wait for the Oath ceremony after the interview date or is it totally random depending on the local center? was just wondering.. Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I've been so busy with the family and doing volunteer work that I haven't been here much! I'd like to say Congratulations to all of you who have passed your interview and/or had your oath! And hopefully those who are waiting will get good news soon!
My interview is tomorrow and I'm getting a little nervous! I was looking at the Interview Document Check List they sent with the interview letter and I was just wondering if anyone can clarify something for me. I'm applying based on marriage and they are asking for proof of marital union. What do they mean by that? Is it the bank statements, lease, etc??? I just want to make sure I bring everything they ask. Thanks!
Yes, I applied based on 3year rule as well. I brought with me marriage license and all joint things that we have: car and health insurance, bank acct, utility bills, lease, threw in a few new pix, and whatever else was on the check list. The officer who interviewed me, didn't ask for any of them. Only looked at my Greencard and passport. That's it. Good luck tomorrow!

Hi everyone, my interview was today and I passed! The whole process too around 15 minutes. The IO was a very nice lady, She went through all the yes or no questions in the form and then she asked me the civic questions:
1) what is freedom of religion?
2) name one state that borders Canada
3) what ocean is on the East Coast of the United States?
4) when was the Constitution written?
5) when must all men register for selective service?
6) how many U.S senators are there?
After I answered the questions she asked me to read : "what do we pay to the government? And to write down : we pay taxes! Then she congratulated me and said I was approved and I will be receiving the date and place of my oath ceremony in the mail. It was a nice experience and I'm glad it is over.
I had the exact same questions.
-
No, she didn't make me correct anything.

Hi everybody! I just had my interview as well and I passed!! The whole process was very pleasant. The officer was a very nice lady and did the exam first place. She asked me 6 questions, and I answered them all correct. She then asked me to read a sentence and to write one. She then went over the form, just to make sure everything is correct. She would throw a personal question here and there, like what my hubby does, how much is our rent, but that's about it. I thought she would wanna see proof of marriage, since when I applied for naturalization, I only submitted official IRS transcripts, but she didn't ask anything. The only documents she looked at were: DL, passport, and GC. That's it. I was also worried about my driving ticket situation. I had a couple tix that I didnt pay and my dl was revoked because of that for a year. I'm in a good standing now, but I never mentioned it in the form. When she asked me have I ever been arrested question, I said no, but brought up my ticket story. She said technically I had to mention it in the form. And thanked me for being honest. That's it. She said I will get my oath notice in the mail.

My husband and I don't really have any bills that are in both our names. All our household bills are on one name or the other. Our mortgage is through his Dad (but I do have a written and notarized contract for that loan with both our names). I also have our joint bank account info. Other than that, nothing has both our names on it. Not sure what to do.
In your case, it sounds like you have more than enough evidence
(Except marriage license and birth certificates of your kids, if any)
Thank you! I will include our marriage license. When I applied for citizenship, I submitted only IRS transcripts for 3 years, so was gonna bring more things to the interview. I don't think they are as strict as when we are applying for the initial GR or ROC, but who knows..

Hi guys,
To those of you who have already have their interviews: What supporting documents did you guys bring with you? I'm applying based on 3 year rule. My yellow letter said to bring only ID and passport. The appointment letter looks pretty general, i put together everything from the document check list, but was wondering what kind of proof of marital union did you guys have. I'm taking our joint: lease, bank statement, taxes, health insurance, electric/gas bill, e-net/tv bill, car insurance, plus a few photos. Is that good enough or am i forgetting something? Thanks!!

Hi everyone. How long it takes to get the interview letter from the time that you received the interview has been scheduled update?
Hi! I got my notification on a tue, and letter in the mail on sat. So on a 4th day
-
Happy Labor weekend to you all!!
I got my interview letter. It is scheduled for October 1st.
-
Woohoo!! Just got an email and a text that I was scheduled for an interview. Will update you guys with the date when I receive my letter.
-
Me too. Received email/text that I was placed in line for interview. Exactly 1 month before 3 year GC anniversary.
-
Just got the yellow letter (Dated 08.07.14) asking to bring state ID and all passports. I have no problem with that except I dont have my old passport, it was taken away by the embassy here in USA when I was renewing it to my current one. Hopefully that wont be an issue.
Will somebody pls update my timeline? thanks
-
Thank you very much for the response.
In your case your timeline is what it is suppose to be. Since you applied by 90 days rule, they would never put you in line earlier then 1 month before your 3 year GC anniversary, which is sept 11, if im correct. If you look at other cases, you will see it. Since your date is sept 11, then your 1 month before the anniversary is aug 11, so you might get in line this or may be next week. Im hoping for the same in my case, but my date is the 15th. So lets wait and see.

I got way more than 3.
I don't believe your fines would affect the process, especially since you said none were DUIs. Some people wait more or less to get in line for an interview, and the fact that you have received a yellow letter, I believe shows that your case is slowly moving forward. We jut have to be patient. So many of us are still waiting to get in line, no need to stress out about it quite yet
-
Hmmmm i never had suspension dui or anything of that nature. am ge worried now its more than a month since my bio but my status is still initial review.
Mine was suspended because stupid me didn't pay those fines on time, and paid them a couple of years later. There was a discussion in the thread somewhere that of your fines weren't DUI ralated and none of them were over 500$ you don't have to mention them, so that sort of made me not to worry as much. I don't know. I didn't put mines down just because I didn't know you are suppose to. I thought those questions are about more serious crimes, if you know what I mean.

Hi guyzz say something about traffic tickets.....how many u got. How you planning to handle them?
I had 3 tickets a few years ago. I didn't mention them in my application, because I didn't if I have to. I never mentioned them in my application for green card either. I didn't know that I have to do it. I will bring a letter from dmv that says that my suspension was lifted, and I can drive. Non of the tickets were DUI related.
Should I apply for Citizenship? Worth the risk?

I have just became a citizens I applied for it in June. I also as many others made a mistake of not disclosing tickets. I haven't reserached that topic, and had no idea tagt I have to disclose them. I had 3 driving tickets from years back that I didn't pay. Two years ago, when I had to change my drivers license to a different state, I was banned to do it due to those old unpaid tickets. I went ahead and paid them, and that led to my license being revoked for a year. So long story short, I did not disclose it. When I had my interview, and it was time for that question, I answered no, that I have never been arrested, but brought up the whole dl story, I didn't want to hide anything. The officer only thanked me for being honest, she didn't correct anything in my form, but mentioned that I should have disclosed it in the form. So I definetly suggest it to everyone, it would never hurt, but might save you! Hope this helps
Good luck!
