Amen...where there are two or more who come together for a cause, there HE will be also. May you and me both find favor in these final steps of the journey. Be Blessed Mor and Digo.

I would suggest you use the address where you are getting your mail. When I applied I was in the process of moving from one state to another. I filed my 1-130 or I129 in your case in one state. Then I filed change of address to another state when case got to NVC. If you are living and working in New York, you should use that address. Then when you move back to Florida, update your records with the USCIS or NVC depending on where your case is at the time. Best of luck.

Thanks, I called this morning. They told me case is complete and awaiting an August interview date happy and sad all at the same time. I was praying for July.

Anyone ever get a SIF (sign-in Failed) and later get an RFE? Or does SIF mean that all docs are in good order?
Thanks for ur response.

Ok I get it that everyone wants to be helpful and honest. What I did not yet read in response to your question was a little bit of empathy. We are ALL going thru the misery in some sense. Either being without our spouses, children, or both in my case, and YES you are right, it is HORRIBLE.
Just be prepared to find alot of PATIENCE in this process because your family will need it. Good luck and be strong, it will take a toll on you and your husband while you wait apart. We are going on six months and no interview yet.
By the way, we have almost spent every penny we've earned flying back and forth for our son's birth, our wedding, our son's first birthday, and every holiday including Christmas. If I give any advice at all, save the money you would pay a lawyer or congress (as if) and put it into your savings account/travel fund. You are going to need it.

I am so thankful for this thread. I am on day 7 of waiting for "docs to be loaded".
The misery of waiting is the worst part, but not knowing whether you will wait and then get RFE'd is even worse than that.
Like u said, I have been here all sad all week long and calling the NVC everyday only to get the "20 day" script. I call in the AM and then again in the PM.
Anyhow, by page 2 of the thread, I started feeling better. Yes I have to be patient, yes I have to give them time to scan both packets (we sent together in one Fed-Ex package), and yes......God willing it should be any day now that we get our interview date.
Thanks everybody for cheering me up also!

Follow this link and read. Basically it states:
Important Note: A US Citizen living overseas that wishes to complete the I-864, Affidavit of Support, for their spouse (as part of the DCF process to get an Immigrant Visa) will be required to have U.S. domicile/intent to reestablish domicile to qualify as a Sponsor for the I-864. In addition to having a US domicile/reestablishing domicile the US Citizen must either have employment that will continue (from the same source) when they move/return to the US, or, per the instructions on the I-864, the US Citizen and their spouse may use assets to qualify if the income requirement is not met. In many cases however a couple may need to get a joint sponsor to successfully fulfill the requirements on the I-864.

Yes, I would suggest that you apply ASAP because the first stage of the process (I-130) will take on average 5-6 months anyway. In the meantime, you can be looking for work/places to live, etc., for establishing yourself back in the US....and soliciting a secure co-sponsor.
-
you will need proof of employment at 125% above 2011 poverty limits or a co-sponsor.Instructions are laid out in the affidavit of support form I864..good luck!

Hi there, I would still suggest that you get a job letter and take it with you just in case. It shows good faith that the two of you as a couple are less likely to become a public charge. I recently started working again after a long stretch of unemployment and I only have check stubs going back 2 months. I will take my job offer letter, a letter I had my boss write after I started working (March), my check stubs, my unemployment check stubs, and my tax records. God willing this will be enough to show at the embassy interview. My opinion......something is better than nothing be blessed and good luck!

Okay, thanks so much for the advice. I have been really worried about that but we will be ready in case it comes up.

My husband and I have applied now for a visitor visa which was denied for lack of financial ties to home country, then for a student visa, which was denied for the same reason. Now we are at the NVC awaiting processing for IR-1/CR-1. Does anyone know if this will have a negative effect on our interview for an immigrant visa or will mentioning this help us build our case that we have been in a bonafide relationship?

Congrats to you. We just got approved last week. Staying positive is always good when you are going down this road. Good luck!

We are up now as well. So far, no interview has been requested. Just a biometric appointment. Then we recieved a 1 year extension on the temp GC. So far so good. Like Brandon said, I sent almost 15 pages of "evidence" of a bonafide relationship. The one thing that I can share is that the processing time was reported to be about 10 months right now so your chances should be good that you won't have an interview. Good luck.
