  1. Hello VJ members:

I currently in the process of filing a W-7 Form to get my spouse an ITIN. I need to get my spouse's passport notarized in Jamaica. Has anyone gone through this situation? I read that a regular public notary will not suffice. Does the passport office in Montego Bay or Kingston provide this service? Also, does anyone know if the Embassy in Jamaica provide this service?

For members in other countries, if you have gone through a similar experience your help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks guys,

    Sam

    Hey Sam,

I actually used the same form to file joint taxes this year with hubby. I was given two options:

    1. Go to the embassy in Kingston and have the Bio page notarized or;

    2. Send the original passport to the IRS.

I choose to send the passport with the W7 form and prepared taxes to IRS. Kingston was way to far from us and I took my chances. It actually went smooth. I was sent back my husband's passport within days of sending it in and the ITIN number came two days after that.

    Hope this helps.

  2. WOW, this is just sad to me!! Honey, not to be straight to the point but WAKE UP!! Bringing him here will not change a ting at all, trust me. It is ok to vent for advice, however you are taking back your words. I hope for your sake and your child's sake you see the light. Your story is a typical Jamaican man. Not all of them will do this, but I would guess about 90% of them cheat or have multiple woman. If you think he will change once he is here cuz your all he has, think again. Married or not, long term relationship or not, when your there in Jamaica it is a vacation and everything for the most part is irie and cris. So I will pray for you and your child.

    Agreed!!!

    Dear Sis Johnson,

First of all I am sorry that you are in this position. I am here as a VJ fam and friend. I really never respond to these types of post but I felt compelled. There is somethings I want you to ponder when making a decision. I have been going to Jamaican for years. There are things I have learned about the culture. Cheating is the norm. Many times some of these Jamaican men prey on the foriegn women as vehicle and maintenance of their lifestyles. You may have even meet the women he has cheated on you with but you think it is a family member or friend. Many of the Jamaican women understand that you are their meal ticket and opportunity and will not cause drama. THAT IS THE NORM. Another thing is that appearance is a big thing in Jamaica. He wants to seem like he got all the latest and the best things. It appears to me from my experience that he is maybe using you to boast. I understand that you are married and willing to spend money for your man but are many of things your buying for survival or showing off??? How many times have you sacrificed your well being for this man??? He has shown you that he is would not make the same sacrifice for you. I can tell you that I am also married to a Jamacian man and have a house in Jamaica. When I am there we live as a married couple. We make budgets, goals, and future plans. We have credit cards in both names in Jamaica and the USA. He is interested to know where the many is coming from and what sacrifices I am making for him. Many times when I send my husband money it is for survival and not wants. My husband has sent me money from Jamaica to pay our household bills in the US. I have recieved hand-made birthday cards and gifts when our funds are low. We fuss and fight and I have even threatened divorce but we work hard at it to make it work. I am not trying to show off... The example I am trying to show is that both parties are invested in this relationship. We are not really talking about the money you spent but the pattern of him being absent and unavailable in your relationship. All relationships are a process. It is not one side or for the glamour....yeah your right he cares for you but that does not equate to a husband. We as women need to be realistic with ourselves to end the cycle of bad relationships. Do not allow yourself to continue to be used by this young man. If he really wanted your marriage to work it would start in Jamaica. Marriage is a state of mind and not based on geographics. It seems that the writing is on the wall. Dust yourself off and keep it moving. You are also a young but do not allow a man to set your standard. You set the standard and how you would like to be treated. I am here to support you in any decision you make and if you decide you want to continue this relationship I will support that as well. When we are connected to a man it is like a drug whether good or bad. For a spiritual answer remain still and in prayer. The decision will come to you. Do not make threats or fight. REMAIN CALM. Although you are in the immigration process, you are not in any race. When you get your NOA2 you can take up to a year at NVC. You will remain in my prayers for mental clarity and strenghth.

    Spiritual Rx:

Psalm 59:9-10a New Living Translation (NLT)

9 You are my strength; I wait for you to rescue me,

for you, O God, are my fortress.

10 In his unfailing love, my God will stand with me.

I know it say end of June, but maybe, just maybe!!! ill get it end of May :)))) what do you guys think?? just starting conversation here btw! lol

    Butterfli,

This is cute. It seems that I always get stuck at the "slowdown" center. My husband and I are patient. Although I want him here tommorrow, I have enjoyed going back and forth to Jamaica. I live in Miami so I can get there easily. Five months or more seems like a long time but in the bigger picture just adds to the excitement. Hopefully, things pick up but your are blessed to have love so enjoy. Keep starting conversations about other things so we all can get to vent during this long process. We all in it togehter...(F)

  5. VJ,

All of us are in different stages of this journey. Some are waiting for their NOA2, some interviews, some for to the end of AP, and others for visas... In the end we are thankful and blessed for something. Ultimately, we all found love.

To encourage others...I ask: What are you thankful for now and in upcoming year?

Me: Life, health, the love of my life, family and friends....

  6. oh... so the website isnt right? becuz it says while its pending (I-130) you can file for the K-3... if thats not right, then what can he come over on while its pending?

In the past the I130 took a longer time to recieve and the spouse could apply for K3 while waiting. Recently, the average time for the IR1/CR1 spousal visa is about 5-6 months for approval. You can file a K-3 but it may be approved at the same time as the I130 and then it would be adminstratively closed. That's why the previous post said that the K-3 is dead. Many petitioners are not using this form any more. Read all the online guides for help. Good Luck with your decision and journey.(F)

  7. And closed mouths don't get feed!!!!

    Hi There

So when they (USCIS) changed the timeline from March 15, 2011 we phoned that day to put in a service request, as well as contacting congresswoman. The congresswoman's office got nothing more than what is online. (that was useless). The email generated from the service request stated they will basically get to ours when then can although ours is most definitely outside of their processing time (their words not ours). They told us to call back on the Nov 29, tomorrow so we will see. Our petition is at 218 days. I did find out that ours is taking longer due to the RFE and the fact we both aren't new to marriage. So extra checking on names etc.

I say most definitely call and put in a service request.

    that's my opinion.

My Mom always told us that "the squeaky wheel gets the oil"...

  8. Raine,

Many times when the petition is sent back to the USCIS it is allowed to expire. Some petitioners have sent emails to the embassy before the file is transferred to have their case reviewed by a supervisor and a small number have been granted a second interview. What was the joke about the money sent to your fiancee? (Seems very bias and unfair) I would right down all the questions that was asked at your fiancees interview while its still fresh. Try to figure out some of the red flags if any. You can marry and file the IR1/CR1 and build a stronger case. DOS will give you the reason that the file was sent back once it is logged in the system. You have several options but do not give up. I know the initial shock is a big blow. Praise God you both are still able to wake up and see another day.

  9. I filed the I-130 and the I-129F for my husband in Jamaica in September. I live in California and I wanted to know how long it will take for any one of these to process. From the topics I've read it seems as if it may take 106 days from the first NOA letter.

Please help I'm missing my husband.

Sorry to tell u this but the average time for NOA2 is 4-5month. Only a lucky few have gotten it in less than a month. This process is about patience which hard when your apart from your loved one. Have faith.

@Terri...I129f are used for K3 as well

    RNM

  10. hello there my wife sent my i130 on 29 of august

and we recieved the noa1 on september 6 and for now i didnt recieve anything...is that normal?

and how long it takes for my noa2 plzz helpp thx...

Generally your application will take five months to process. If you were to hear something so soon it would be a RFE (request for evidence) which in many cases you don't want that. Like the old saying goes...no news is good news. Read the forums and guidelines to help get knowledge on the process...Many blessings on your journey.

  11. Thanks everyone. I found the list on the CDC website for required vaccines for immigration purposes by age. They provide the physician guidelines and specifies the requirements for those acquiring the vaccines abroad for entry into the US. I'll have to post it for future reference. Thanks all.

    Nikki,

Please post any information regarding the vaccines. I have been searching high and low for the info. Thanks a mil. RNM
