I went to the SS office today to get a name change for my old Social Security Card. The lady at the window said that they can't issue a new card yet because my GC needs to be verified. I have to wait about 4 weeks for a new card if my GC checks out.

Can I work and look for a job while I don't have an updated SS Card?

I recieved the email of my CSC transfer on a Saturday too. Some people might be working Tuesday to Saturday.

weeeee!!!! I got this e-mail at 5pm EST yesterday but I did'nt know till about 11pm. Good thing my hubby checked my e-mails! weee!!

I am on a K1 visa, applied for a SSN today exactly 16 days after my arrival. I just brought my Passport and I-94. I did'nt have problems.

They just told me that SSN for K1 can be done in the airports now. And i could have done it there.

Applied at the office in New Britain, CT.
