  1. The reason I'm asking is because it didn't say anything on the reminder that I received from USCIS.

    So far I have:

    Mortgage documents

    Checking and saving statements

    Investment statements

    Home insurance papers

Retirement that shows us as being beneficiaries

Flight tickets to our upcoming trip to Scotland

Tax statements showing we filed jointly the last two years (Been married since August '13)

  2. The opposite is happening with me lol. I have my I-130 approved and I-485 still in decision even though I technically have the green card stamped on my passport. Im not sure if they ordered it or not! or maybe the system online is just not updated. Congrats to you. The big part of it is done and one or two weeks wait for the actual GC is not a big deal as long as you got approved there even verbally. Its still counts as approval.

I didn't get approved at the interview, I checked my status this morning and it said card production.

  3. Did you make a copy of everything you sent in the packet? If so then take it & any other evidence you may have got since you sent it, also any photos you have.

    Brian

I've updated all the forms we sent and will print them and take them. Do I need to take passport photos if I already submitted them? I have a bunch of photos of us with each others family and the trips we've had. Also have flight tickets from when me and my wife went to Scotland for Christmas.

  4. If you're approved on the day then you should ask for an I-551 passport stamp, which will serve as temporary proof of a green card and would allow you to keep working. Sometimes they will do this, sometimes they won't, but if you spread it on thick and tell them how your OPT is expiring in two days then there's a chance they'll do it for you then. If not, you'll have to take a temporary leave once your OPT expires until your green card arrives in the mail, which, if you're approved at the interview, should be around 7 - 10 days.

    Thanks, i'll do it.

  5. No. You could have applied for an EAD based on your pending I-485, would have received it within 90 days of application and then could have worked for whomever you wished instead of needing to use your OPT (and only be able to work for certain employers) but if your interview is around the corner then it's pointless now.

Once you have your green card then you won't need an EAD, a green card accords you employment authorisation by itself.

Right, but my OPT expires two days after my interview.
