  1. packet 3 is usually just one page with instructions on what forms are required. they do not send you the forms, they just list them and give you a website to go to in order to download and complete the forms yourself.

you can get these forms ahead of time and fill them out. that way when you receive packet 3 you are all set to send them the requested documents and avoid all the delays of looking out the forms/printing/gathering documents. :)

  2. I know that we are dealing with different embassies here but the London branch did not ask for ANY of the supporting evidence. No taxes, no W2 no pay stub, no bank details... which I had panicked and had my fiance express mail it to me. The only thing they wanted was the letter from employer.

Obviously I realise that the conditions may vary from embassy to embassy and from officer to officer, but that's my experience!

  3. Hi,

I travelled down on the night coach from Co. Durham and arrived in Victoria at 6.30am for my 9am interview appointment. By the time I got a coffee and found my way to the embassy, left my electronics into Goulds and called my fiance it was about 8am. I took my time. The queue wasn't long at that time and I was issued my ticket number at the front desk at 08.19! There were others in the queue with appointments at 8.30 right up to 11. But that didnt seem to matter. I was out of the embassy by 11.30am and able to squeeze in some shopping, lunch and a walk before getting the 4pm bus back up north.

However, every case and every officer is different so that might just be my experience!

    Good luck!

  4. If he had all his vaccinations through childhood from school etc then he should be fine! they are pricey at knightsbridge so if at all possible have him get them somewhere else.

At least go to the medical and refuse the vaccinations, then after schedule an appointment with his GP to get them done. That way you will have them done for AOS but not be charged. As others have said, they are not a requirement for K1 visas initially but they are needed for AOS!

    Good luck!

  5. AgLovesAeron, I didn't mean to cause you concern, rather just to clarify things for my own case. I'm sorry if i have got you worried!

That particular question is a bit strange, of course our fiances will support us. I am going to have Kedron check the 'i intend' box and write a little bit of detail because that is what my CO said! I hope it works!

I am so frustrated with the waiting! Kedron has mailed me two copies of the i134 with both the VJ answer and the CO answer while we do our research and decide what one to send. Hopefully by this time next week i should have it and be organising a courier to come pick it up with my passport! I just hope it hasnt put us back too much!

Good luck and thank you to everyone who has responded!

    LOVE!

  6. Ya, it makes sense!

I mean you have everything else in order.

I have a friend who did the CR-1 Visa (the already married one) here in Ireland. His wife didn't have enough money on the I-134 to be approved. The Embassy told him; get a co-sponsor, send us back the new I-134 and we will send you the visa asap.

    And thats exactly what happened!

His wifes aunt sponsored him, sent back the new I-134 within a week... had his passport w/visa inside within another week.

    Wouldn't worry!

Cheers Widsy! Are you going through your visa with Embassy in Dublin? I applied there and they sent mine to London because I'm a UK resident (live in Northern Ireland) even though I am an Irish Citizen! :-s

Thanks for that message...hoping for the best!

  7. Congratulations kat. You are sooo close.. Soo happy for u.

Yay, good luck to all with interviews coming up! I had mine yesterday in London and we sort of got approved. Bit of an issue with the i134 form as Kedron didnt check the right box on question 11. So we have to do another form, send it in with my passport and wait for the visa to be sent back to us! More waiting! Its such a stressful time and seems it will continue for a while until AOS but we're all in the same boat! Stay positive! Don't get stressed if you can see a solution! Keep involved in the forums and use your virtual VJ friends for support! They are the only people who truly understand what each and everyone of us is going through!

We will all get there eventually!

Much love and happiness to all!!!

  8. I feel like according to VJ you don't tick any and according to CO you tick 'intend'. The problem has arisen from ticking the 'do not intend' box (the right) so either tick the left box or leave them both empty.

I'm devastated that we didn't get full approval yesterday at the embassy but the CO was very nice & made it seem like its an easy mistake to fix.

Just more waiting. He said once when I get the new form, call for their courier service to come collect the form & my passport & then they will send me the visa right back.

    Does that make sense?

  9. Hi There!! Soooo sorry to hear this happened I don't know what I would have done!

I also had my interview at london yesterday. For question 11 my Fiance didn't tick either and put "N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence )" in the space provided. I am assuming this was fine because they didn't mention anything was wrong.

Good luck and I hope this helps! :)

Thanks for your reply! I think we're going to send it like that! Just threw me off because what the CO said! But I think my fiance just checked the box by mistake because he did write the 'n/a k1 visa process for permanent residence'. What a blow!

Congratulations to you two! Wish ours had all gone well. :(

  10. Hi everyone,

I had my interview in London yesterday and everything went well until the CO said there was just one problem. He asked how I would support myself until I have AOS and get a job... I thought that was why I had the i-134. So the CO then said, your fiance has checked the box on question 11, ''DO NOT intend to make specific contributions...'' when he should have check '' I INTEND''

So I got the blue form saying that I need to resubmit the i134 and i went on the example forms and saw that neither box was checked and they say to state ''n/a k1 visa process for permanent residence'' at question 11.

The CO made me believe that my fiance should have checked the 'i intend' box and then state how he would support me.

    So i'm confused!

What did anyone else write for question 11?!

    Really appreciate your responses!

  11. Hi everyone,

Just had my medical yesterday and thought I'd share my process with those of you who are nervous/want more information...

My appointment was at 09.50 at Bentinck Mansions, I arrived at 09.20. From the tube at Bond Street Station the little map with the medical info was exactly right and easy to follow!

I went to reception where they asked me for the following:

    -Passport (which they copy)

-1 passport sized photograph (UK or American standard size are both accepted)

-Police certificate (which they also copy)

    -Medical questionnaire

-Vaccine record ( I had asked my GP for a print out of my vaccines which I had had on time when required from birth so if you haven't missed a regular vaccine you should be fine, I also took my copy of hep B status from my job and my copy of my recent flu shot from work)

They then gave me another medical questionnaire, the same as the one I had already completed but on official paper which I filled out in the waiting room and returned to the receptionist. I waited for about 5mins in the waiting room before being called for x-ray.

The radiographer asked me to remove my clothes from the waist up and put on the robe provided. Then I stood for my X-ray and once finished I was sent to a second waiting room and told the doctor would call me shortly. (waited another 5mins).

When the doctor called me, I was taken to a consulting room where she went through my medical questionnaire. I had to sign a the questionnaire and then she did the examination which consisted of the following:

-Measuring of my height and weight

-A sight test (cover one eye, read the board, cover the other eye etc)

Then I was taken to the examination bed...

-examined my ears, eyes and throat (not very thoroughly, I can only describe it as a quick look)

and then asked to lie down...

    -blood pressure was taken

-listening to my heart and lungs

    -abdomenal examination

-and then again what i can only describe as a quick look, down my underwear! (bizarre!!!)

The doctor then took a blood sample, I asked what this was testing for and was told it only tested for one thing, syphillis!

I put all my clothes back on and was asked to go back to the first waiting room.

A girl from reception then called me through again and I made the payment. She returned ALL my documents and presented me with a receipt and a "vaccination worksheet" which she told me to keep safe although I would NOT need it for anything else to do with the visa but I would need it when applying for jobs in America when the time comes.

I was advised that if anything was wrong or needed further information, I would be contacted within 2 working days by telephone and if I do not hear anything I can assume everything is ok. And the results will be sent to the Embassy within 4 working days.

The reception staff were very pleasant and the X-ray staff where alright. The doctor was a little off... I felt it was a bit unprofessional and like she couldn't be bothered with the examination but apart from a bit of a bruised arm from the blood test, it was painless!

I left the medical at 10.00am. 40 mins from start to finish!

Any questions, let me know! Think I've remembered everything!

    Good luck!

    Jess

  12. Do you have a receipt number? (eac/wac) if so, try calling the NVC & asking them if they have received it. They should be able to tell you if they have forwarded it to the embassy. Also, go to the embassy website & start gathering the next set of documents/police certificate etc. These take time and if you have them started at least when you do get your letter you will be ready to mail the info. Keep calling. It's frustrating but you need to figure out your case status. I think the nvc is who will be able to tell you & I have had no trouble getting info from them & I am the beneficiary!

Let us know the result of phonecall!

  13. hello!

I apologize in advance is this seems like a stupid question or if it has been answered before, but i honestly couldn't figure out how to navigate these forums and do a keyword search :P

I'm probably worrying about nothing here...but here goes:

We filled for our petition a couple months ago and have already received NOA2, stating our petition was approved and will be forwarded to the embassy where I live. Also it said I would be contacted by the embassy and that I would receive a packet with instructions on how to proceed. It has been quite a while and i still haven't received anything.

My question is, what should i be expecting? A phone call? Or a package sent by mail? And how long should that take? How long is too long?

I'm really stressed out with all the wait and worried something isn't right :(

After you receive your NOA2 in the form of a letter, USCIS send it to the National Visa Center (NVC) who then forward it to the Embassy in your country. The next thing to happen is that you will receive a letter in the mail from the Embassy detailing the next steps to take. Between receiving your NOA2 and your letter from the Embassy (often known as packet 3) the wait time is about 3 weeks. You can call the NVC to see if they have received your application and get a case number. Having a case number makes phone calls with the embassy much easier.

    Hope this helps!

  14. Hello VJers

I have just received the letter from the London Embassy detailing that they have received the approved petition for K1 visa...

It has a list of forms, etc to fill in...

I want to know if I should go ahead and pay the $350 now before sending the forms?

Also, there are a couple of forms which are online, do I need to print those as well? and do I pay the fee before submitting online forms?

And also, the police check...do you have to go through the website listed on the embassy website?

Please give me some advice, i'm feeling very overwhelmed.
