  1. My lawyer told me yesterday that I do NOT need an affidavit of support since it is NOT listed in the required documentations that have to be submitted along the I-485! I told him that some websites say you need it, etc...and he said he's never asked his clients to submit them and they've never been rejected. You should mostly trust what lawyers tell you, especially when it comes to serious stuff like that :)

  2. Yeah I know, it sucks. But here's the thing. Once KCC gets your stuff, they're going to forward it to the embassy you listed on your form and you will have an interview. By having sent them your picture and the forms, it means "I plan on immigrating to the US". When you go as a tourist, you have to technically assure that you have no intentions of staying in the country and that you have no plans of immigrating. I am really not sure. I don't want to tell you yes you can go and have your visa cancelled or whatever or the other way around :) So the best thing to do is to google "US immigration lawyer free question" or something like that and ask them the question right away. Don't rely too much on what people say on here, since it's not always accurate :) Lots of people say things they heard. I am just telling you what I know after having had long appointments with immigration lawyers (which is why I knew, among other things, about the medical), but since I am not sure about your specific case, you should ask a lawyer :)

  3. Ah OK. I'd just been doing a lot of reading of the UK forum about the medical, and they seemed to think that the Embassy needed to have started dealing with your case before the medical or they wouldn't have an associated file to put your medical results in.

No, it doesn't matter, the medical does not ask for an application number whatsoever. The medical is valid for a year on the date it is signed by the physician.

  4. Sorry, typo on my part Penguin - I meant to say that my interview won't be before October 2011 :)

I'm not too worried about visiting sooner, it's more that I might get called away overseas for work over the next couple of months, so it's great news that my interview won't happen before October and I won't need to worry about missing it as I'll be back in the UK by then.

As a fellow Irish poster, am I right in thinking my university degree will supercede my 'high school' qualifications? I have all my GCSE/A-level certificates as well as my degree, but we don't really do high-school transcripts the same way - just making sure what I've already got will suffice for any visa interview.

Yes, if you have a university degree it automatically entails that you got your high school diploma. The highest degree assumes that you got the lower level degree.

  5. Little correction here. TECHNICALLY, once you have been selected for further processing for permanent residence, you are technically not allowed to go to the US as a tourist, since you have an intention to immigrate (even if it's not during that very visit). The Visa Waiver Program doesn't grant you double intent (such as the H1-B visa, for example). All those people who are in the US on a visa (and hence apply for adjustment of status) have to fill out a form to be authorized to leave the country and reenter. So I suggest you stay abroad until you get approved.

  6. Yup I'm Northern Irish, and was born here. Sadly the forum makers didn't give me an option to put that as my country...

Out of interest, how did you do your medical without a case number? I thought we had to wait until we had a case number for the Embassy that'll process our application (which for me is London)?

Oh ok, that's awesome. I just wanted to make sure :)

Well as for the medical examination, it doesn't ask for your case number. It only asks for your name, DOB, address, etc... :) Our case number is the one that was given to you when you received your notification that you were selected for further processing, hence 2012EU.....But even if that wasn't the actual case number, it is not required for the medical. I hope this answers your question :) !

  7. Guys and Girls

As stated in a previous post, I made a mistake and some how only wrote down 14 of the numbers and letters, which is two short of the required 16 as we know.

I have sent a email off to KCC, and they said that they cannot retreive conformation numbers.

Is there a common thread of numbers after the 2012, just in case that is where I missed the numbers .

    Gregg

Just resend all documents since they won't be able to retrieve your file otherwise. You have plenty of time before October, so it's ok if you resubmit everything :) !

  8. My AOS interview is nearby and me and my spouse are scheduled for interview on different dates/time. Is this a common practice? Can we go together on my interview date and request the IO for interviewing us together? Thanks for any information. I have heard since we have different application hence file, interview times are always different, but in my case it is on different date.

If you had completely separate applications, then yes, it is normal that you got 2 different interviews, so don't worry about it. I don't think they'll be able to change it since they have generally pretty fully-booked out days :-S So just go to these different interviews :) !

  9. I am the winner of the DV Lottery and I went to my final interview on Feb 24 2011.

Unfortunately the doctor who performed my medical exam did not fill our the I-693 correctly

and they gave me statement saying I need to turn in a new I-693 by March 27th 2011.

The immigration office said after that I should receive an approval notice and green card in the mail.

I sent the new I-693 on Feb 28th 2011 and they received it on Feb 28th.

It has been 4 weeks since then and I have still not received any confirmation or approval

    letter from them.

What are my options? How long should I wait before setting up an infopass appointment?

Should I send the I-692 again?

    Please help.

    Thank you!

Give it some time, it's only been 4 weeks. They have many applications to process, it's not like they take care of your application the minute it gets there :)

  10. I figured it might still be a while after the whole 'You will only be contacted by the Kentucky Consular Center when a visa appointment is scheduled' line. Great if we do hear earlier, it'd be good to have a general idea of the timeline with regards to the medical/interview etc.

Uhm, just a quick question? Were you born in the UK and do you have a UK passport? If so then you are not eligible to actually end up getting the green card, given that the UK (except Northern Ireland) is barred from being issued diversity visas. If you were born in Northern Ireland, then you're fine. Also, if you were born abroad and have a passport from that country, then you're fine too. You might want to verify if you are eligible :)

Well technically you could already go get your medicals done, since they are valid for a year after the physician signs it. I got mine done today and since I will still be filing in less than 12 months, it's all good. :)

Would be nice to have more people share their experience on this forum :) !
