  1. I had my medical on Tuesday morning and it was so fast and easy that it was rather unremarkable. I took a cab there but overestimated how long it would take and was there by 5:30am, and was first in line  There's a Starbucks across the street and a McDonalds next to it. It's easy to find because the building has an awning with 145 FRONT ST. EAST printed on it.

So I sat outside the building until a lady came at 6:10 and opened the doors. She let me sit inside the foyer while she got the office ready. A few minutes later a guy showed up for a medical as well. At 6:25 she started processing me and the other guy. She asked for 3 photos, my letter from the consulate/packet 4, passport, and vaccination record. She asked for the payment which I received a receipt for.

After that I was instructed to wait outside the x ray room. The lady for the x ray got there at 7am. After she took my x ray I had my height and weight recorded by a nurse, then I had blood drawn. Another nurse came and took my blood pressure and pulse. Then I was instructed to take off all my clothing and put on a paper gown and wait for the doctor to arrive.

The doctor (I got Dr. Malcolm) was very nice. He looked at my vaccination record and saw everything was up to date. He asked me some questions (are you taking any medication, do you have any conditions, do you have HIV etc. etc.) none of which applied to me so it went smoothly. He then listened to my lungs and did some sort of abdominal exam. Then he left and a nurse came back to do a breast exam and take a quick peek between my legs (literally), I think just to confirm that you're the gender you say you are

I was out of there by 7:20. I didn't notice how full or empty the waiting area was when I got out because I was so relieved that the medical was over :) All in all I found everyone I worked with to be very professional and efficient. I know it's obvious but you can tell these guys do the exact same thing every single day and they were very kind and helpful. It was a relief to have my medical done by such people.

By the way, if you're like me and you have no remarkable medical history to speak of at all, it's okay to just bring the minimum (that is, your vaccination record.) I've never used medication for a long period of time or had any conditions or surgeries to speak and was fine with just the minimum documents. My vaccination record was completely up to date, however.

Thanks for the great review! My medical is on Monday and getting nervous, but your post really put my mind at ease.

You mentioned you had to show the packet 4 letter from the Consulate... i never received any letter in the mail. Packet 3 and 4 was emailed to me, would that be sufficient for the medical exam?

    thanks!

  2. Ralyse, I am so thankful for your helpful responses in the other threads! THANK YOU!

Do you know if the sponsor (my fiance) is required to be at the interview as well?

It's nice that your fiance is coming with you :)

We're really lucky, it's only 5-6 hours depending on the wait at the bridge. So he's going to go back after the interview and come get me once I have my passport :)

  3. Thanks Ralyse.

Did you send originals or did you make photocopies of all the forms and just sent that in your packet 3?

Now that I have to re-send the package... just wondering if i should just make copies and send?

    I sent mine to:

    ATTN: Immigrant Visa Unit

    315 Place d'Youville Suite 500

    Montreal Quebec

    H2Y 0A4

It took about a week from when I sent it until DoS said it had been processed. Hope that helps!

  4. Thanks carolineden11!

Another week wasted... we already wasted several weeks waiting for packet 3 to be sent to us but it never arrived!!

sigh... when is this process ever going to end??

When I sent it through DHL to the physical address (the address DHL told me to use) it was delivered and signed for but never logged. I would resend it!

  5. I used DHL and they also used the physical address of Montreal Consulate...it's been a week (the package was delivered and signed according to tracking#) and DOS said Montreal still has not logged packet 3....

I'm suspecting mail is no longer forwarded to the proper address anymore...

    great.... I guess I should re-send to the 315 place d'Youville, Suite 500

  6. Hi Ralyse,

I think we sent our Packet 3 around the same time and noticed that you have an interview date already!

I used DHL and sent out from Toronto to Montreal Consulate... DHL used the physical Montreal Consulate address... is that where you sent yours?

It has been a week and DOS said packet 3 still hasn't been logged yet...

Just wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything.

    thanks!!

I didn't include any in my P3 to Montreal, I believe it's fine as long as you have them at the interview :)

  7. I can totally relate... we waited 3 months for packet 3 and never received it in the mail, until we called DOS. *SIGH*

DOS told us that it was mailed out to us " a while ago" so we wasted many weeks of waiting :(

Sent in packet 3 last Friday and arrived yesterday (Monday). Planning to call DOS again in a few days to see if I can book the medical and interview.

Anyone know the process for security checks for Toronto? Can I start on that without receiving packet 4?

    Thanks!

  8. My apologies in advance if this is in the wrong forum...it's my first post :)

Getting frustrated and annoyed with Montreal Consulate.

We received the NOA from UCIS on February 4, 2011, the file was sent to Montreal on February 14, 2011 and I am STILL waiting for the packet 3. Is this normal?

It's been almost 3 months and still nothing! We emailed requesting for a status update and received a response a month later to just say that the case is still being processed. Is the packet 3 mailed to me? or do I just complete forms that are available online?

Anyone else experiencing delays from the US consulate in Montreal? Our original application was submitted beginning of August 2010.

    What a frustrating process...

    Any help/answers would be appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.
