One thing that I am still not sure about is, Should I "email" or / "post a letter" to NVC telling them that we would produce PCC during in person interview at Bombay, INDIA or I can just ignore sending any updates to NVC knowing my NVC Stage has been complete already.

Also, does anyone of you know what is required to obtain PCC from Passport Office from Ahmedabad Office. I do not have Interview letter in hand yet, but I recieved an email from NVC asking for PCC from Passport Office - is this good enough to get PCC from Ahmedabad Passport Office.

Unfortunately I did not see your reply until now and sent original PCC from Local Police along with DS-230 packet to NVC already and luckily my case got completed at NVC as well (AVR too is updated to: Case BMB*** is completed ... etc. ).

However, on a weird note, I received an email today from NVC asking to submit PCC from the Passport Office in order for NVC to further process my case.

My wife's interview would be held in Mumbai Consulte ( - because the NVC case number starts with: BMB). As it is mentioned in here, for people scheduled for Mumbai have an option to even submit required PCC documents during their in-person interview. I already submitted Original PCC from Local Police and I have asked my wife to obtain PCC from the Passport Office ASAP. But my confusion is, whether I should also ask her to obtain another PCC from Local police also??

And, also what is recommended - to send an E-mail / or / Mail a letter to NVC to tell them that PCC from passport office would be produced at later stage - during the beneficiary's in-person interview.

Just called NVC and got the news "My Case is now Completed !!!!"

Though the operator told me that, there might not be enough slots open for October interview for Mumbai, hence I was asked to call back in a week. I really hope we get an interview date in October .

Like some other people here, I did not get a false SIF either on payment portal site (I had got one earlier though, before even my bills were generated) !!

Also, one weird thing, My AVR message still goes something like - "NVC has assigned *** case number. Packet containing documents and information has been sent on 25th Aug. If this letter is not received by an agent within 6 weeks please press some key". - I have received no letters/packets from NVC so far. All I have received is EMAILS only.

I am not sure whether I should have received letter/packets for DS-2030, I-864 and DS-230 !!! Does any one know??? The last letter I got was from USCIS - i.e. NOA2 - Please let me know if you know anything about this.

What name did you use in I-130! If it is with her maiden name (old name), then use her name (new name) as per the new passport in DS-230 and file bio-pages from both passports - also include an explanation letter). Visa is issued as per the name in DS-230 (DS-230 is the visa application). Please remember that the name on the Visa must match the name on the new Passport else you will have issues at POE.

In I-130 and all other forms her new name (name after marriage) is used. Only wherever Maiden name was asked, we had specified her maiden name. DS-230 too has her new name, but DS-230 has entry for maiden name as well, so her old name is also specified in DS-230, like any other forms filled so far.

Since she got new passport, her old passport in invalid now and I read somewhere biographic page of Valid passport of Beneficiary. Don't know how authentic that is though.

Hey April Filers..

So I know that I am suppose to send Photocopy of my wife's Passport Biographic Data Page (First page and Last page) .. but my wife got her last name and middle name changed after marriage .. hence she obtained new passport. And on last page of New passport, it has Old Passport's Number written .. So, I am confused to whether send only New Passport's photocopy or / both - New and Old.

Does anyone know..?

Can anyone please help... whether Police clearance certificate and Passport clearance certificate both are required or any one of them will work out?

In case if we are only having police clearance certificate so will it create any problem at NVC .i.e will we get any RFE for not having passport clearance certificate?

My wife's passport is not even 6 months older, so passport clearance certificate is compulsory or only police clearance certificate will do?

On a side note, I heard that there is some sort of delay or redirection of visa petitions to other embassies for petitions that were originally destined for Bombay embassy. Have come across anything of that sort?

NVC will use the email from G-1145 to email you the NVC Case number... However if you are calling the AVR message or the Live operator and get to know that you have a NVC Case number ready, then you need to call/ give the operator the email address of you and your foreign spouse. Then they will be able to send email communication of the DS-3-32 to the foreign spouse and AOS fee bill to US spouse.....

Else, you will get those in regular mail (meaning if no G-1145 was sent with I-130 petition).

got email from NVC today!!! - wanting me to send in the Choice of Agent -i was thinkin on doing an email on that, but will the further processing also HAVE to be done by email correspondance? Any ideas ?

None of the previous submitted forms ask for email address (Except g-1145 - which is specifically for USCIS I130 NOA1), then I am wondering how does NVC get to know about your email address and should you really wait until NVC asks for Choice of Agent, or it should be emailed (to NVC) as soon as NVC case number is generated?

Also, Can you let me know NVC's email address for sending out Choice of Agent form?

Does the Job Title on Employment Verification Letter (to be sent with I-864) has to match EXACT with what is specified on G-325A.

Would it cause an RFE?

One of the Visa guide help wiki states that Job title must be consistent on all forms etc. (But, G-325A's column say.. "Occupation (Specify)" - and it seems Occupation and Current Job title can be different). Still I am not sure. Can someone please help.

Whoever wrote what you are citing here is completely off base.

OP: Send photographs and don't worry about "sending too much stuff." The file I sent has been described (accurately) as a phone book.

I decided to just check the website and saw we were approved abt a week ago !!!! (I did not get a text or an e mail either) .... anyway.. finally APPROVED .. yayyy.... NOA2!

You can have a family friend (with his/her complete details and address) file an affidavit that they have knowledge of your wedding with details (marriage date, place, your spouses name and birth date, time since they know you etc.).. and have this affidavit send to USCIS. This is one of the forms USCIS accepts as proff of relationship

Note: I remember reading somewhere one should not provide photographs etc. Providing extra stuff to USCIS may confuse them. I am not too sure about photographs however. I'd suggest you to research more on this.

I started working at our company from June, 1996 to Jan, 2000, I resigned, then rehired again on Oct 2000 to Present... Should our HR include this on my employment letter or just only from Oct 2000 to Present? Thanks again!

I-864 instructions clearly states 6 months period.

Copied from I-864 Instruction (Part6, #23) - "you may include a recent letter from your employer, showing your employer's address and telephone number, and indicating your annual salary. You may also provide pay stub(s) showing your income for the previous six months."

However I am not sure whether one should send these as the same instructions also states.. "You are not required to submit this evidence, however, unless specifically instructed to do so by a Government official.". But, since it is a good practice to send in some proof for your current salary, I would send it in advance, before anyone requests for it.

in short.. 6 months is legit as per I864 instructions.

I am sending in Original birth certificate and the attested translation as well.

I can not recally exactly on what the translation says, but I know there is a sample of what they want on the travel.state.gov webpage.

One minor confusion I have now ... Are we suppose to send in all the Original Copies (and not photocopies) to NVC.. e.g. Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificates, PCC etc.

I remember USCIS had explicitly asked to send only photocopies and not original copies.. However I don't see it with NVC.

Mainly needed it for her birth certificate as everything else was in English.

I also had her get our wedding invitations (both sides) translated so she can use it as proof during the interview if needed.

For English translation of Birth Certificate.., do we also need a letter(or affidavit etc.) to prove that the translator was able to translate in English and English copy is correct translation of regional copy.

Also, once translated into English, is it required to send original Birth Certificate as well.., or no need for that?
