  1. If you "don't know how it works," why are you confusing the issue? Engagement parties are obviously engagement parties - the lack of a white wedding gown in pictures being the most obvious tell-all.

OP, to answer your question, you should be fine.

    W alf mabrook!

I wonder why you attack Sarah and Adnan, coz they have no any issues against any one, but, as a VJ member, he or she is trying to help.

Please let's respect the opinion of all VJ members.

  2. Believe it or not, I finally made it...

After waiting close to two years for my NOA2, my wife was interviewed on Friday, Feb 8, 2013 for her IR-1 visa and thanks to God and to all my VJ friends, who supported me technically and emotionally, she finally made it and got her visa.

She showed up at 7:30 am on Friday and they let her in around 8AM. An hour later, her name was called and a Moroccan guy checked all her docuemnts and gave her back the originals, which I submitted to NVC and asked her to stay at the waiting area for her interview. Her name was called again around 10:45am and asked if she wants to be interviewed in Arabic, French or English. My wife preferred to be interviewed in English.

A blonde lady is the one who started interviewing her by looking into a big file, which I sent to NVC prior to her interview day( I sent bunch of pics, hotel reciepts, copy of my and her passport showing entry and exit stamps, western union reciepts, call logs and other documents) and asked her few questions :

Where and when you met each other

What is your husband's full name

Have you travelled to any country outside Morocco

What does your husband do for leaving

What does she do for leaving

Does any of her family members immigrated to the US.

Finally, at the end of the interview, since her Med exam was missing from her file, she was given a white paper in which she was asked to bring her Med exam and took her passport. At the time, before she leave the consulate, she was asked for her Cell phone number and she was told that someone will call her in few days. The next day ( after they got her Med exam from her doc) someone from the embassy called her and asked her to drop off her passport and she did it the next day. Five days later, she got another call from the consualate asking her to pick up her passoport.

I think sending more docs together with IV DS-230 forms and affidavit support to NVC did help us a lot, coz, it seems to me that they (CO)went thru all the documents prior to her interview and apporved it even before her interview took place.

It was tooooooooooooooo good to be true. I still cant imagine that my wife will make it and thanks to God no AP and no more headache.

You can not imagine how frustrating is to keep waiting and suffering from loneliness.

I wish every body all the best :wow:

  3. My wife recently interviewed for IR-1 visa at Casablanca CO and at the time of the interview, her doc did not send her medical her medical report prior to the interview day, as a result, she was interviewed and at the end of the interview, she was given a white paper and asked to bring her medical report. Next day, she got a call from the consulate telling her that they got the Medical report from their Doc and asked her to drop her passport. She dropped her passport and a guy working there told her that they gonna call her back.........

After interview, calling her to drop her passport and telling her to expect a call from the consulate is a good sign or another routine and a negative sign of denial?

  4. Hello!

This time next week will be my interview day in London :)

I'm already getting really nervous about it all!

Any advice from anyone would be great.....

. Do not volunteer information. For most questions, the shorter and more direct the answers are, the shorter the interview and the higher the chance of success. If the question is a yes or no question, give yes or no answers only. If the question is a simple question like "What is your name?" answer simply with your name.

    2. If you do not know the answer to a question, do not lie. Say, "I don't know the answer to that at this time." or "I don't remember."

    3. The answer to many questions will be in the papers that were sent in the petitions. Questions like, "what are your husband's parent's names". They will expect you to know the information given in your petitions. Review everything in your paperwork with your wife before her interview, and do a mock interview to see how the information may be applied.

    4. Avoid saying "I think . . .". Women do this a lot. The examiner will expect you to know not be unsure, of your answers. Also, avoid adding "umm", "you know" and "ahh" type fillers to your speech.

    5. When applicable, don't just state, demonstrate. If the examiner asks a question that can be answered with a document or photograph(s), provide it along with your answer.

For example, if the examiner asks, "What does your family think of your husband?", give them a picture or two with your answer; "They like him very much. Here is a picture of him with my mother and father at my parent's home."

Or, "How many attended your wedding?" Answer, "(give a number, then say) We have some lovely wedding photos of our guests having fun. Here are a few that I can show you."

    6. Give American answers for dates and times. 12/24/07, not 24/12/07.

    7. Dress well, but not overdressed.

    8. Try to appear calm, well organized, and friendly. Nervousness raises suspicions.

    9. Remain focused. If the examiner makes jokes, smile and enjoy, but do not make jokes too.

    10. Make proper eye contact when conversing with the examiner, and try to control your own facial expressions so that your face remains pleasant and cordial.

    11. Be audible so that your examiner doesn't have to ask you to repeat your answers.

    12. Organize your papers in a way that will allow you to retrieve them easily and quickly. Examiners appreciate order and someone who doesn't waste their time.

    13. When the interview is over, always ask for the results. "What should I now tell my husband about my visa status after our interview?" Before you leave, have them explain any papers they give to you and/or any procedures they will be taking to complete your case. Try to get the examiner's name for future reference, if needed. Write it down.

    14. If the interview is in another city than the one you live in, arrive a day or two early to complete biometrics and get the results of your medical exam.

    15. Arrive early to the consulate, but also be prepared to wait for a time past your scheduled interview appointment time. Be careful of thieves around the consulate if you have to carry cash. Bring ID; you cannot enter without it.

    16. It is rare for the consulate to give you a visa on the spot. Be prepared to return for it, if approved.

  5. Thank you but I'm familiar with that cable leak. Though I understand that it is your desire is to rain on my parade because you didn't like what I had to say about your case. Despite what I said I think you have plenty of cause to be optimistic FYI. Have faith in your wife. You've known each other many years and this is a good thing.

My situation is very different from most of the Yemen IV/NIV cases. I am not Yemeni-American and I am not a Muslim. My fiance and I met when he was studying in the US. We didn't pursue a relationship until later on. You could say we were friends like you were with your wife. If you read that whole cable you'd see the reason why K-1's get denied sometimes in Sanaa is because the Embassy investigates and uncovers that the couple is already married, religiously or otherwise. We are not. Yes our relationship is haram for his religion but hey we can't all be angels all the time. It's not uncommon for Yemeni men who travel abroad to date, drink, carry on and what have you. They love the freedom. We didn't get married yet because he can't get back to the US with a tourist visa (he tried and was denied) and marrying a foreigner (especially kitabiyya) in Yemen is extremely difficult and complicated even for normal civilians. I can't take 2 months off work to petition a Yemeni court. A 3rd country didn't work either because we want at least one of our families present at the wedding. People do the best they can under the circumstances.

Wishing your wife the best of luck at her interview.

Hi Sara....I am so sorry for misunderstanding.. U can not imagine how I took all your comments and suggestions serioulsy. That is why I am counting on all my VJ friends.

Once again, thank you and wish you all the best from bottom of my heart.

  6. 55.35%. Or maybe 71.89%. If the Embassy keeps such "statistics" on visa denials and approvals by category, it is not something they would make publicly available.

I am curious though - you visited her for a week in Morocco in between your marriages. Was it a platonic visit? Don't actually answer that. I don't know what the culture is in Maghrib countries regarding friendship between the sexes but in Gulf countries it is totally unheard of. For them there is no such thing as friends between men and women. When I spent a summer in Egypt it wasn't common there in my observation either. It's possible it could come up at her interview because your "friendship" may raise a few eyebrows. She should just be prepared for that and be honest.

And no, I don't believe your story is unique. I have many relatives who were divorced or widowed and ended up remarrying colleagues or old friends. It's normal. By the way working in a government job in most MENA countries means you can't marry a foreigner. At least in Morocco you can obtain a permit! In Yemen there is no permission granted and if they catch you they jail you. It's why my fiance didn't go for it even though he was offered a great position.

    Hi Sarah and Adnan

    Thank you for your response.

my wife is well prepared to answer all the questions related to my previous marriages, further more, she is going to take my both final divorce decrees with her to the conusulate on her interview day. In Morocco and Tunis, unlike other MENA countries it is very normal for two (male and famale) to have a friendship.

Any way, I dont want to be too optimistic, but expect the worst...( Inshaaallah I hope she is gonna make it)

By the way, regading your K-1 visa, I heard a lot of negative about applying K-1 visa in Yemen. Most of those whom I know and applied K-1 got denied and switched to K-3.

In Morocco, most of the benificeries are K-1 visa applicatnt, and due to culture difference between Yemen and Morocco, it is very normal for some one to travel with his or her fiance.

I think the follwoing link about K-1 visa will give you more info about applying K-1 in Yemen,

    https://dazzlepod.com/cable/09SANAA1729/

    Wish you all the best

  7. A local background check is up to the CO. You were divorced twice, no red flags there except you say you have known and had a relationship with your wife since 2003, while married to your ex? Don't use that time as proof of relationship unless you are prepared to have your wife explain why she was with you while you were married. Do you mean to say that you had a friendship with her since 2003 and started a relationship in 2006. No Co will believe you have been together for 10 years while you had 2 other marriages. If anything they do show concern for the applicant thus she may be questions about your previous marriages.

It is true females do have more success with getting visas out of Morocco but there are denials as well. I was preview to this while acting for my husband at the embassy. No one gets visa on the same day they call you back to pick it up a few days later. It is normal to worry, good luck...

    90 days then they expire

    Hi MIBEN

    Thank u for you feedback

My wife first e-mailed our company in the US back in 2003 looking for a job as a flight attendat. she sent her resume together with her picture. When I knew from her E-mail that she is from Morocco and can speak Arabic, I tried to contact some airlines if they can hire her as a flight attendant. I called her around end of 2003. she invited me to visit Morocoo and I was there for a week and spent my vacation ( we were just friends at the time). FYI, my second marriage was a family arranged marriage and did last for one year. I got married to my second wife in June 2005 and divorced her in December 2005( second marriage lasted for 6 months only). I petitioned my second wife at the time and after divorce, I contacted USCIS and withdrew her petition.

In other words, at the time when my frienship started with my current wife, I was divorced from my first wife and was not married to my second wife. I travelled to Egypt to visit my family in mid -june 2005 and I had a family arranged wedding there. Since I had no relation with my second wife prior to my marriage, there was no chemistry between us and as a result, I decided to put an end to our relation back in December 2005. I visited my current wife again after divorce and our relation started to become romantic. My wife has a big government position related to the National Police of Morroco and as a result, she can not marry a non-moroccan with out a permit from the Moroccan governmnet. since I am a non-moroccan, they refusued to grant her a permit twice and finally got approved end of 2007. while i was preparing for the wedding my mom passed away and the permit expired.

After a long process, she finally got another permit around the end of 2009, we got married at the beginning of year 2010.

This is my exact story that my wife is aware of and what she is going to tell the consulate..

I know a guy here in the US. His co-worker was his friend. He divorced his wife and got married to his co-worker after a long term relation...

In other words, is my story a unique of its kind or happened to someone whom u know ?????

in lieu of the above, what is the percentage of my wife getting approved by CO? ( FYI, I visited her over 7 times).

In case, if my wife got denied, I am planning to sell my business and move to Morocco. ( in case of denial, can the case reaffirmed again by USCIS and sent back to the embassy for another interview ?)

I am looking for your feedback.

  8. I had my husband take all the same paperwork we file such as marriage license and what not. I also had him take cell phone records, Skype calls and ultrasound pictures. I had just had our son six days before his interview so I had him take pictures of our son also. He said they did not ask for any of this in his interview but he had it if there was any problem. Plus he was in Tunisia and they issue his visa the next day and he was in America by Saturday. I know you are different country but this was our experience.

My wife just got back from the embassy's doctor and he didnt gave her the medical report, but he said he will send it to the consulate by himslef? is that true?? coz what i heard it once u are done with all tests and vaccination, benificery will be given a sealed envelope with the medial result and report...

  9. I'm sorry that I can't help you answer the question of which documents to bring, but this did raise a flag for me:

    3. I got divorced twice first in 2003 and last in 2006 ( non of them got a green card thru me).

    4. I met my wife back in 2003 and our relation is 10 years old.

Is your wife prepared to answer questions about having a relationship with you throughout your second marriage?

Yes, at the beggining it was just a friendship and finally after my divorce of my second wife, back in 2006, our friendship started getting romantic till I proposed to her back in 2009 and got married in 2010. Off course she is aware of my previous marriages.

  10. Hi there

My wife is going to be interviewed next Friday in Casablanca for IR-1 visa. I am sooooo scared about Casablanca coz I read and heard a lot of negative stuff about Casa consulate.

Here is a brief of my case and petition.

    1. I filed a petition for my Moroccan wife back in 2010 and after a long background check and RFE, I got NOA2 in October 2012.

    2. I am not a moroccan but originally from the Middle east (share the same language and relegion with my wife).

    3. I got divorced twice first in 2003 and last in 2006 ( non of them got a green card thru me).

    4. I met my wife back in 2003 and our relation is 10 years old.

    5. I married my wife back in 2010 ( after 7 years of relation)

    6. I travelled to my wife 7 times ( my last vist was back in Januray 2013)(we used to see each other in Morocco and outside morocco.

    7. I am 15 years older than my wife ( it is common in MENA coutries that men marry younger women ).

    8. We did not a have party for our wedding coz my wife's older brother died 2 months before our marriage ( we have moroccan death certificate)

    9. When USCIS sent me a RFE, I sent them 7 pounds of pics and documents.

In lieu of the above, what documents should my wife take with her on her interview date and what is the percentage of getting an immigrant visa the same day without AP though I heard that it is easier for women to get visa than men ( i dont know if it is true or not).

  11. Congrats........................

My wife is going to be interviwed next week and I was told that the security guards at the entrance do not allow to take big file full of papers of documents with you for the interview and they only allow very small thin folder together with your appointment letter and passport, is that true?

===>Yes it is True ! Bags r not allowed ! had to tk my 2 photos albums , Big file and 2 Small ones in my hand so had to let my bag with my uncle who were waiting for me at the coffee on the other side of the Street :)

    [/size]

Regarding tax extension, are you talking about year 2011 or 2012. If they are talking about year 2012, it is too early to file for year 2012..

    ===> 2011 Ones .... like u said It's Early to file For 2012 ones :)

The final question is did they ask your fiance all those question, like her hobbies and all these stuff before and matched it with yours ? cause in my case they never asked me about my hobbies and what I like and how I spend my day..

===> No . They Didn't ... Just double check all the documents befor interview and Ur fiancé will be able to answer to all Questions If You both talk evryday :) ... Hope all the Best For you ....

you mean my wife can take photo album, post cards, phone logs, letters etc with her ? does it has to be a very thin folder?

  12. no, condescending is harping on and on about visits you think should have happened prior to interviewing when the OP has gone into detail in the past about her life circumstances that prohibited her from having more time to spend with her husband in morocco. actually, it's more than condescending, it's really pretty shitty. there's nothing she can do to change that now. there's not even any way to assert that that is what is even responsible for their denial in the first place. and it's irresponsible as all get out, throwing out stuff like "You really should have had at least 2 extended visits before even attempting to file, especially through Casa." oh, really? you don't know that, i don't know that, no one knows that. member experiences in casablanca, and successful beneficiaries receiving visas in casablanca run the whole gamut. i would certainly hope no one would tell people that meeting once and getting married that same time is going to be a sure approval, but no one is in any position here to tell anyone that those circumstances of course mean a denial is inevitable either. stop pigeon-holing. there are all kinds of issues that can come up in interviews that need resolution before visas can be issued that have nothing to do with time actually spent together. the OP's case may, or may not be one of them. maybe a visit soon will help. maybe it won't. the consulate might be overly hung up on the OP's husband's friend's visa issues and how it relates to the OP and her husband. heading to morocco may or may not resolve that.

    Hi there

My wife is going to be interviewed next week, I heard that they ask some questions about my hobbies and what i like and hate, what is my favourite movie and etc... my question is since they never asked me those questions when i petitioned my wife, how they gonaa match her answer to mine? the other question is, i heard that it is much easier for Moroccan female to get visa than male? Further more, in most of MENA countries, it is obvious that older men marry younger women, and my case I am older than my Moroccan wife, is it going to be considered a red flag. (FYI, my relation with my wife started 8 years ago) and saw each other seven times...

  13. Ty evrything went well The Co asked me More than 20 question and I did answer them all ... but she said that she need me to get my fiance's Recent Federal Tax Extension so going back there tomorow lol

  15. Hi there

My wife is going to be interviewed at Casablanca consulate on Feb 6,2013 and it is for IR1 visa ( I-130). Prior to the interview date, I mailed I-864 to NVC and was accepted by them. FYI, I am a self-employed and sponsoring my wife and was told by some friends to send form I-864 for affidavit of support. I read so many CO reviews and most of them were denied coz they used the wrong form. To my understading, NVC accepts any form and leaves the final dicision to the interviewing consulate.

My question is, since I am not an employee but a self employed ( I own a small business) petitioner, should i send I-864A or keep the one I sent to the NVC ( form I-864)...I am worried and do not want my wife's visa to be denied due to submitting the wrong form.

I look forward to hear from you.

    Thank you

  16. Hi All,

Today I called NVC and came to know that my case has been closed.

Can anybody please help me to know what can be the estimated interview date?

I am from India and Mumbai is the embassy.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi there, in my case I called the NVC and was told that my case was completed on the 10th of December and they told me to expect an email from them. In fact a week later, on the 18th of Dec, I got an email from them stating that my case was closed and telling me to wait till they schedule an appointment for my wife. I called yesterday and talked to one of the agents at NVC and she told me NVC schedules an appointmnet the first friday of the month and since 3 days already passed, they told to expect an e-mail from them around the first week of january expecting my wife to be interview around the first week of febury 2013.

In liue of the above, you will get an e-mail from them sometimes nextweek stating that your case is closed and expect an interview date.

    good luck

  17. My case was approved November 19,2012, and still hasn't been sent to NVC. I emailed them about it and this is what they replied to me

"Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) contacted U.S.

Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) in regards to your approved

petition. USCIS (National Benefits Center - NBC) has informed us that

your petition is located at the (NATIONAL RECORDS CENTER - NRC). USCIS

(NBC) will have this file ordered for Officer review. Please contact

USCIS at 800-375-5283 or visit their web site at www.uscis.gov for

    additional information."

What does this mean exactly? And what should I do??

Any case related to Yemen goes thru background check, authentication of any docuemnts issued by Yemeni authority and etc... in my case, my divorce decree was issued in yemen and as a result, it took close to two years to approve my petition. regarding NVC, I know many folks who petitioned their spouses (who are from Yemen) took them over 4 to 5 months before NVC recieve it though uscis sent their approval to NVC. In other words, it is normal for someone who petition his spouse from Yemen since the whole process takes from 1 to 2 years. Even if the NVC get it, you have to wait at least for 4 to 5 months till US consulate in Sanaa schedule your intervview and notify NVC. by the way, when u get to NVC stage do not mail DS230 like others, but u have to fill DS260 and submit it electronically.....

    Good luck

  18. Hi all

Since we are almost at the last stage of our journey, I was wondering how much time do we have to wait between sending the DS-230 and the interview? Any idea please? Any estimation, because I'm confused about it, thank you :)

In my case, they got my DS230 by mail on NOv 27, 2012 and kept calling them till they completed case on Dec 10,2012. Now I am waiting for the interview date.

FYI, Amman is different scenario because you guys subitted ds260 instead of ds230 electronically. In my case, i have to print the DS230 form and submit it by mail.

    Good luck...

  19. I went for interview CR/IR and was denied and my papers was send back to the department of homeland security/uscis but it was reaffirmed and they send it back I want to know if anybody have any idea how long it will take them to give me another interview date?

I am so sorry to hear that and I am just wondering if u provide more detalis under what circumstances was visa denied ? were there any redflags ? I.e. very short term relation, very limted number of visits, age difference and other reasons.....what was the interview about ? did your spouse took all the required documnts with her on the interview date ?

  20. Hi there

I just called NVC and was told that my case is already completed on Dec 10,2012 and waiting for an interview date.

I am just wondering has any one whose case completed on December managed to get an interview in January. As per the NVC agent, she told me that interview may take place in February.....do you think that a there a slim chance of getting an interview in Casablanca CO around end Jan ,2012.

Look 4ward to hear from u
