  1. I suspect the answer to my question is largely dependent on what location my spouse will be interviewed.

She is to be interviewed in Montreal next month.

I understand I cannot be with her at the actual interview session...correct?

Is it important for me to travel to Montreal and go with her to the consulate?

This is quite an expensive proposition for us. Is it really a deal breaker if I don't go?

    Thanks

it shouldnt be a deal-breaker, but you are allowed to be there. I was there at mine. I figured it would help with the bona-fide relationship querstion (if any) if I were there in person. Took about 5 minutes.

  2. Do they send you an email telling you that your AOS or IV packages were approved? How do you know when that part is completed? I have sent in both packages (e-filing) and both fees are paid. after I emailed the scanned documentation, I got a checklist RFE for the stuff (IV) I just sent in. I think that is a false RFE, but that is the only thing I have received, except for an RFE on my AOS (because I forgot to write in a number on line 18), which has been responded to. Thoughts?

  3. My wife sent by emaiul a DS 3032 form to the NVC. In addition to the automated response I received the following:

    Dear Sir/Madam:

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

We are unable to add agent contact information to the case record at this time. Please continue to notify the NVC of any change in the petitioner's or principal applicant's address.

    <other stuff>

    Sincerely,

    Annie

Does this mean that I will need to resubmit the email at a later point? What do I next?

    thanks,

  4. Common guys I have been repeatedly stating thus and still there are a few doubters out there:

If you have received your NVC Case Number, don't wait for any email to be received from NVC by your foreign spouse - just send out the email DS-3032 form. NVC is accepting those and are acting accordingly.

Does it have to be sent from their email address, or does it matter?

  5. I called again today to make sure that they were resending it out to me and she assured me that they were. I did explain to them that the first notice was sent out on the 24th of June but it must have gotten lost in the mail. I am so afraid that the respond to date is going to pass before I can get what ever they need back to them. I am also afraid of a denial due to that reason as well. But hearing someone went through the same thing does make me feel better. How long did you have to get your response back to them?

    September - plenty of time...

  6. Still haven't received my RFE that USCIS says they sent out on 6/24. I called today since they couldn't do anything about it until the 15 day mark. The gentleman said that he would send a service request out and I should hear from them by 7/26.(is there anyway to follow this request?) I asked how long I had to respond to the RFE and he said 30 days. I asked him how that was going to be possible since it had already been 17 (sat was the 15 day mark) and I still have to wait to receive the new one in the mail. Plus have time to get together what ever they are requesting.

USCIS said that if I don't send in what they need with in the 30 days my application would be denied.

Has anyone else ever ran into this problem? Is there anything I can do about the time frame?

    Thanks everyone!!

I would call and ask for the tier 2 immigration officer. when they ask what the problem is, make it sound complex, otherwise they will hesitate to transfer you. if they don't transfer, let the call quickly (and politely) run its course, then call right back. when you get the IO on the phone explain that you havent received your notice yet and see if they can check on the hold up. sound a little insistent that you don't want to artificially delay your case waiting for a notice. you could ask them to resend it. when I did that, the original was generated (I had called on 23rd, was informed that a notice was sent on 13th, and I hadnt received an email or text indicating so) the next day (24th). about 10 days later, the reprint showed up. on the 24th though (the day after my call) I got text and email notifications. i wonder if sometimes they forget to click the little "update" box. Keep calling until you get notification.

  7. Hello,

I just received notice that our I-130 was approved. I'm starting to research the steps at the NVC and I have a question!!

I've been living in Costa Rica for the past 16 months. I will start a job in the US at the end of July, but when I send in my I-864, employer letter etc. I won't be able to send in '6 months of pay stubs,' which seems to be the accepted norm.

We don't even have a case number at the NVC yet, but I'm worried that once it comes time, I won't have nearly enough pay stubs to show stable employement?

Anyone have any experience with this? Do they care if I can only give, for example, 2 weeks of pay stubs?

Are the paystubs in addition to, or instead of tax returns?

  8. I am waiting for an RFE that was supposedly sent out on the 13th. I called USCIS and asked them to resend, since (at the time) it was about 11 days and no notice. The USCIS site was still showing Initial Review with no change in date reflecting the RFE. However, after the call to the immigration officer, I received the notification emails and texts about the RFE. My question is, when I call, why doesnt the tier two person know what is in the notice? If they could tell me, then I could get it together before the notice comes and get it back to them sooner. Does anyone know what the deal is?

  9. I just don't understand how it worked. I called the automated line and customer agent. I assume she was tier 1. She told me that my case is pending. How did you manage to speak with tier 2?

    Please advice!!

I just did it. as soon as they ask you how they can help, ask to speak to a tier 2 immigration officer. They will still try to help you, but at least they told me that would transfer. Once they did and I spoke to an officer, I found out that there was an RFE supposedly sent to me on 6/13 (I havent received it). It pays to call...
