  1. Sorry for a FAQ, albeit one with an answer that could change throughout the year! So NVC have said "case complete" on 22nd November but I haven't received any notification by email or paper for the interview date. Any idea when I could hope for an interview at the London embassy? January sometime?

    Thanks.

Eek, I just found something that said 10-12 weeks after the package arrives in London. I thought I'd read elsewhere that it was 4-6 weeks from case complete. It supposedly takes a few weeks from case complete to arrive in London, so those sets of numbers are months apart!

We did our medicals last week but need some information from our GPs sent to the doctors before they will approve our medicals and send to the embassy. I'm hoping this will be done by December 16th - but will the interview scheduling not happen until after they receive the medical reports, thus adding more delay?

  2. Hi,

I already submitted the payments at NVC now im concerned about the DS 230, the petititon is for my 2 little kids that are 12 and 8 years old...They should sign the form or my husband who is the petitioner must sign it??...or just leave it in blank??

    PLEASE, HELP ME!!!

    Thank you in advance.

    VM

My attorney told me to sign for my kids (though they are 3 years and 2 months respectively, so somewhat younger). However, at the medical I was told to sign and suffix "(father)" to indicate it wasn't them signing! Case complete so I guess they accepted it.

  3. We have an approved I-140 petition and are currently going through the DS-230 form filling process. We have a baby due at the end of September and originally the plan was to try to get the interview in London before the baby was born, which meant that the baby could initially enter the US visa-free (and saves us $794). However, due to delays in getting paperwork from another country, it's now likely that we'll submit our DS230 forms and evidence, then the baby will be born, then we'll have the interview with the visas issued (hopefully!).

As I understand it, NVC in New Hampshire will, at some point, transfer the paperwork from their base to the London embassy. So when we have the baby, birth certificate, and passport in hand, what do we do - and where do we do it? Send a DS-230 to New Hampshire with the evidence? Or to London? And what about the $794 (immigrant visa fee)?

We're both British citizens (though the wife is also Filipino) and living in the UK.

    Thanks.

  4. I've since found out that the true original birth certificate was never received by the NSO when she was born. I'm really at a loss of what to do now. My attorney is unhelpful. Can NVC pre-approve documents by email before they are sent properly? Just to say "informally, that looks okay" rather than "we approve this", just to give us piece of mind?

  5. Ok, she went to the ecencus site and applied for another birth certificate - but got a (virtually) identical one to the one I posted earlier! However, we don't have the physical copy yet as she had it sent to her parents to save money.

I don't know what to do now! Just today I received our LND number for NVC so maybe there is a way for them to pre-verify the document before sending it in formally?

  6. By they way, I am not sure if NVC are accepting certified thru copy. But here in the Philippines, in legal transactions " Certified thru copy authenticated by NSO" is being honored.

I was just replying to your previous question as I was confused - basically, you're saying that the image I showed is NOT acceptable to the US NVC and that she needs to go to www.nso.gov.ph to get a new one?

Reminds me of what the attorney said - burned by fire is not acceptable, she needs the original. But it was burned by fire. Yes, but she needs the one [burned by fire]. Should I send ashes?!?!?!

    Thanks.

  7. Please can somebody look at the attached image and tell me whether this will be accepted by NVC as my wife's birth certificate? Her original was lost in a fire and my attorney (who may not be familiar with Filipino documents) says a certified copy is not acceptable. I'm unsure as to whether this is a birth certificate or a certified copy.

Might not make any difference but for completeness, I'm a UK citizen by birth, she's dual UK/Filipino (the latter by birth), and I have an approved I-140 (EB1A). Just about to start the NVC process.

    Many thanks.
