Hello,
My fiance was unable to obtain a letter from his employer, thus I emailed Sydney and the reply was that they needed the most recent Tax returns.
So we submitted his recent Tax returns, W2s and Statements of earnings and leave, I also included a letter explaining why there was no letter of employment.
I had my interview last Tuesday,I mentioned that my fiances employer would not provide a letter of employment, the interviewing officer said that the most recent Tax returns and W2s ect was what they are interested in.
Hope this helps ease the worry, I know how you feel, it did my head in at the time.
Oh and yes we were approved!
-
My interview was last Tuesday, and we have our approval
Let him know that it is not as nerve wracking as you imagine, just try to stay calm, keep your answers concise and smile.
Make sure he has any additional evidence ect that you think you may need, I was not asked for further evidence but, it is better to be prepared.
All the interviews before me were approved, each person was given time to answer and my impression was that the interviewing officers were there to help not hinder.
Good luck!

Hello everyone!
My K1 visa was approved on Tuesday May 1st, and I still feel like I am walking on air, it all feels so surreal, I keep thinking did that really happen, did I really hear the words "visa approved"....
After all the long months of waiting, 322 days to be exact, we have our approval, I can go home to the man I love, finally!
Congratulations to all those who have had recent approvals, we all made it!
To everyone enduring the wait, hold onto your hope, your day will come, you will get to the day of your approval, you will win out.
Keep your hope alive
I wish to thank all those who offered words of wisdom and advice here on VJ, what a wealth of information to be found, a light somewhere along the seemingly endless journey.
I am going home!!!! Yes, yes, yes

Hello to everyone!
I am packed, I have checked and triple checked everything, ready to catch the 6am train to Melbourne, then a midday flight to Sydney.
It is all so surreal after all this time to be finally nearing my interview day.
I decided to stay in Sydney the night before, it made more sense to me to do it that way.
Eliminates worrying about early morning flights and delays ect.
I have come too far for anything to mess up now!
There are a few fellow Australians here on VJ who are interviewing on Tuesday also, I want to wish you all the best and I hope each one of us leaves the consulate with beaming smiles, finally having heard the magical words "you are approved".
Keeping hope alive!

Hello all!
Counting down the days now until my interview, 10 whole days to go, what a wait it has been!
A wait of 322 days, almost one year, since petition filing until the interview date, it has been a marathon and a half.
Certainly not for the faint hearted.
Waiting for the seemingly elusive NOA2 is a long hard road to travel, the roller coaster ride, the separation, longing to be with the one you love, feeling stuck in limbo, waiting and waiting, it all see
Then finally you recieve the NOA2 approval, relief along with anticipation, surely things will move faster now!
NVC and then the consulate in your country has your petition, more relief and feeling that the end is ever nearer.
Gathering your Packet 3 information and filling out more forms is a job and a half indeed, you are slowly but surely closing the gap nearer to that long awaited interview date.
The day, the actual moment you mail off the Packet 3 is a cause for celebration, the sheer relief, at last, you have done all you possibly can to reach this stage.
More waiting, the days pass by, you check your emails, holding your breath each time, Packet 4, interview date, please be in the in-box for real.
Packet 4 arrives, you read your interview date, you can hardly believe, its surreal, you have the interview date, after all the waiting and frustration, at last!
Still waiting but, its of a different kind, feelings of apprehension, nervousness and excitement, hoping to hear the words " your petition is approved".
Reading as many reviews as possible to gain insight, smiling each time I notice a K1 approval knowing how long the journey has been to reach the prize.
Counting down the days, keeping busy at work, spending time with friends and family, missing my love each minute of each day, knowing that each day is another less apart.
Thinking of all who are waiting, keep your heads up and keep your hope alive.

Hello all
My K1 interview is on May 1st.
I paid my visa fee at Australia Post with the deposit slip that I downloaded from the UStraveldocs.com site, no problems, all went well.
Now I have receipt and the instructions on the deposit slip inform you to return to the US travel site and enter the 13 digit number that is displayed on the receipt.
I logged in, I had previously created a profile as advised by Sydney in my appointment letter, and attempted to find where I am to enter the 13 digit number.
Thats where the fun and confusion begins!
All I can find is a section for scheluding an appointment, which asks to check non-immigrant, then it lists the types, there is no K1 Fiance visa listed.
Why would you want to schedule an appointment anyway, when you already have one given to you by Sydney?
This option must be for other visa types is what I am thinking.
So my head is spinning, what now?
I cannot find where to enter the 13 digits, do I even need to do this at all?
My understanding was that once I paid the visa fee and had the receipt in hand, all that was required was to ensure I took it to my interview.
Any other Australian K1 Vjers who have recently completed this stage who can shed some light on this?
Much appreiated

Hello everyone
As my interview date is drawing nearer I decided to do some research regarding fares to the US.
While searching for one way flights and fares, I wanted to determine the price difference between one way and return fares,
and found that the return fares are cheaper.
So I got to thinking why would you pay more for a one way ticket, when a return is less expensive?
The return flight would not be used, so is this an okay thing to do or, would it create a problem with immigration?
What do you all think?

Hello everyone!
There are a few of us Australians waiting on Sydney for our interview dates,"Go slow" appears to be there motto at present, either that or they are super busy with loads to do.
Either way, this waiting when the interview date is so close at hand is stressful to say the least.
I keep telling myself that we are nearing the end, not too long now, evenso there is a sense of so close and yet so far.
Not complaining, just saying!
Hang in there all you fellow Aussies, imagine the joy and relief when we get our interview dates. How happy we all will be.

Hello fellow Australians
Anyone else waiting on interview date for K1?
Sent our Packet 3 twelve days ago.
-
Hoping everyone is having a good day
To fellow Australian K1ers,
Its been an awfully long road for us and I am wanting to get the Packet 3 sent off without any hiccups, hence I would appreciate any advice on how to assemble all the forms and relevant documents correctly.
Is the Statement of readiness to be interviewed the first document, then the document checklist?
Is there a particular order in assembling everything?
Thanks for any advice, I am determined that we do not come across any further obstacles that will cause us to have to wait an even longer time, as we waited 204 days for NOA2, and 6 weeks for return of my medical, we need this to go smoothly from here on out.

Hello everyone
I have the receipt for my engagement ring and valuation/appraisal certificate also the receipt for my wedding dress. Is this sufficent for evidence of engagement?
Should I include anything else like Letter of intent to marry, or include photographs of us together?
We did not have an engagement party hence no photographs of such an event.
The photographs I do have are the same ones that were included with the original K1 petition, should I include these again?
Thank you

Thank you for the replies

Hello everyone
Xrays from the medical.
My question is, what is the best way to pack them when flying to the US?
I have been told that xrays will be blank on arrival due the radiation while travelling by air.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thank you.

You both kept your hope alive!
Look at you now!!

Hello all,
We are currently gathering all the necessary documents for Packet 3.
My fiance requested a letter from his employer to be included in our Affidavit of support, and was told that a letter could not be supplied as it was not for work related purposes.
Is there any alternative for this?
Can we provide other evidence in leiu of?
My fiance has the W2s and tax transcripts for the last few years.
He has permanent employment, and has been employed for most of his working years by the same employer.
Thank you in advance for any advice and suggestions

Country Victoria to Atlanta!
Nearly there now!
I really like the humidity over the warmer months, I am yet to experience the winters there.
Flying into Atlanta, I see all those trees and know that I am nearly home. The best feeling ever.
-
Congratulations!
-
congratz! i dont think theres a lot of us unlucky ones left
Today I noticed that you are over your 7 months and 2 weeks mark, I feel for you!
204 days or 6 months 2 weeks and 6 days for ours, that was tough, so I can totally understand how you are feeling.
All this and more...
It will happen, each day is one more closer, hold onto your hope and stay strong.
Thinking of you and wishing you good news if not today then tomorrow.

Hello fellow Australians
As we now have our NOA2, I would like to hear any suggestions regarding accomodation in Sydney.
Thanks everyone

We finally have our NOA2 after 204 days.
What a wait it has been!
To all the April, May, June and July filers still waiting, each day is that one more closer, it will happen, just keep holding on to your hope, stay brave and strong.
This long wait, longer for some of us, will only serve to make your love stronger and surer.
Getting through this seemingly endless wait between NOA1 and NOA2, if you can do this, you will get through most anything else that may come your way.
-
204 days and we finally have our NOA2
The long haul wait is over!
To the few remaining June filers who are still bravely waiting,it has got to
be any day now!
Thinking of you all and hoping to hear of your NOA2 approvals real soon.
Keep your hope alive.
-
I am hearing you both!
Almost 7 months for us, we are with Vermont.
All we can do is wait, exercise yet more patience, dig deep and hold out hope of receiving the NOA2 one day real soon.
We are all one day closer

Seems slow, but put in a service request. Like Jim said, depends on lots of variables, some get lucky. Keep checking, have some Christmas cheer.
Thank you everyone for your replies
Great to know that there is such a wealth of information here on VJ, eases the mind and makes you realise, once again, how we all are in the same boat at some stage in this process.
Thanks again!

Is it possible for a service centre to misplace your K1 Visa application?
We filed in June and are with Vermont, so it is now almost 6 months and 2 weeks since our NOA1.
Seeing many being approved for their NOA2 that have filed in August, I find myself wondering as to why we are still waiting for our NOA2?
Is it lost or forgotten someplace?
I realise that others are waiting also, others that have filed even earlier than June evenso, the frustration and disappointment is still ever present.
I have read that the USCIS processes in order of receiving,
I am beginning to really think ours may have lost its way somehow!
Shouting it from the rooftops, I have my visa!

Hello everyone
Finally, after 335days, the day has come, the long awaited visa is in my hand.
I can fly home and be right by his side
I feel like doing the "Oh what a feeling! Toyota!" jump thing....
