We want to give my wife's family a copy of our wedding DVD and I'm fairly sure we are going to need to convert it from NTSC to PAL formatting.
Anybody have any experience with this? Do they need conversion at all?

Does my Thai wife still require a Travel Visa to enter Canada with her AP in hand? I read on Canada's visa information site that US Permanent Resident Aliens do not need a visa, I don't see any mention for AP holders. Can I assume the answer is "Must have a visa?"
We live 35 miles from the Canadian border and would like to make some trips.
TIA

Wait until you get an ID with her married name....save yourself a trip. We made the mistake of getting the SSN the day after she arrived.
We arrived in the US on May 2. We have started to settle in. I went by the record of deeds office in my county to check on getting a marriage license. They need a SSN for each person, among other things.....or they gave us an affidavit to use for a person who is not eligible for a SSN. They asked if we had applied for a SSN yet (and we haven't) so they gave us the affidavit form for people who are ineligible for a SSN. They said we could use that to get the marriage license but only because we haven't applied for an SSN yet. I'm curious if anyone here has been through a similar experience. It doesn't seem right since we will be eligible for a SSN when we apply.
I read if we apply for a SSN it will probably take 2 weeks to get. It seems like we need to wait 2 weeks after entry to make sure Took is in the SAVE computer system, then apply for the SSN, then wait 2 more weeks to get it. Is that what most people do?
If we marry after getting a SSN we have to go back and change her name. I was hoping to marry first then get the SSN with the married name....saving a return trip to change it. Anyone know if that is possible?

Hello Folks,
My wife is AOSing/EADing/APing from a K-1 visa..... medical done on 11/24/2011, K-1 interviewed/approved on 12/1/2011 ... entered US 12/8/2011, married 12/22/2011
Application received in Chicago lockbox 2/24/2012, checks cashed... biometrics done.... We've received notice that CSC is reviewing our petition.
I looked through our copy of the application and I as the US citizen failed to include any type of ID copy, no Birth Certificate, Driver's License, or Passport.
What's our potential for getting an RFE for this. I looked through the guide checklist on VJ and it doesn't mention this. I know I should trust the checklist, but I have this gut feeling.
Thanks in advance for any info.

This is America. There is NO FREE HEALTHCARE.
Correction sir, it isn't free anywhere. Someone is paying one way or another.

Hello everyone.
My wife entered the US on 12/8/2011 and we were married in the eyes of the State of Montana on 12/22/2011. We simply went to the Clerk of Court and signed out marriage certificate in the presence of a CoC employee and received several certified copies of the certificate. We asked the lady to take our picture...... That is our only wedding photo at this point
We will conduct a full Wedding ceremony in the Summer.....that way we'll have favorable weather and time.
We'd like to file our AOS in the next couple of weeks, so my question is...... Should we include in our cover letter a paragraph explaining our Summer plans? OR Is the certified marriage certificate along with our other evidence enough?
TIA

My fiancée just arrived in the US. We went to the courthouse and applied for our marriage license where the clerk indicated we could declare ourselves married. I chose to defer doing this until I could do some research.
Living in Montana, winters are a tough time to have a wedding ceremony. We would like to have our ceremony in the Summer(July/August), when the weather is ideal. Also, we have a few teachers in our family and this is the time they will be free and without vacation restrictions.
We want to get started on the Adjustment ASAP....will simply declaring we're married be enough to file our AOS? I suppose we could have a photographer come take our photos as we sign the documents and have those as wedding photos
TIA

The pace of processing (I believe) is a component of their vetting process. Sincere couples can usually wait it out successfully.

the G-325 and I-129 contain very basic items that a couple should know about one another. Mother and Father's names, addresses, places of birth for everyone. Shouldn't be that difficult to complete.
There will be other items of information that they will be seeking that will test the genuine nature of your relationship.

I was watching some videos from April 2010 (I was there) The military should have shot them all. First bullet for Jatuporn. I'm glad Seh Daeng took one in the head. He deserved it.
Thaksin should be brought to justice for war crimes. It's pretty sad this shell of a man can hide out in Dubai.
ETA: Before a mod jumps on me over this, the guy is a fugitive on the run just like Qadaffi was. He got what he deserved and so should Thaksin.
I think Thaksin is a slime as well. But apparently he has lots of folks in Thailand hoodwinked... Even today!
Sounds like Hopey Changey!

thats fine go ahead and break my heart LOL
I realy thought that it would be fast after the nvc completed there part. The timelines that i looked at I guess gave me False hope
The notion that "Things happen fast" after NOA2 arrives is a fallacy.
The Embassy is currently scheduling interviews for applications that arrived at their door on August 3rd. And that is a rough estimate.
We received our NOA2 on August 4th and I'm beginning to get skeptical that ours will come before New Year's

My cousin's house is completely flooded in Pathum Thani. Destroyed. The electricty has been cut off and they've been told to move up to the 2d floor.
He bought a crotch rocket motorcycle a few months ago and was worried about it. He bought a zodiac inflatable boat, went back to the house and loaded up on his boat.
As he puts it.."to hell with everything else, my bike will survive".
The rest of the family in PT have escaped out to my village where it remains dry.
Anybody know if Future Park in Rangsit is still dry?
Last I saw, Future Park was OK, but closed until further notice.

My fiancee lives in Pathum Thani, in the Rangsit district
Ground Zero
She left BKK to stay with her parents for a couple of weeks.
Living in Louisiana during Katrina, I saw what that did to New Orleans, I can only imagine what BKK will have to deal with.

Seen worse.
Vote out any incumbent.

FYI hashtag #thaifloodeng on Twitter is a great way to follow developments....amazing photos as well. Just be wary that there are ###### stirrers in the lot.
I suppose this will delay our Packet 4. Anybody know what's going down at the Embassy?

HEY EVERYONE!!! Im SOOOOO excited I had to post it! lol Got my NOA2 today! WOO HOOOOO 91 days later

Thanks for everyone's input on this, thank you Ning, you always bring the "Thai" perspective to these discussions.
She is married, owns a home, has 2 sons, and has a farm in the Isaan region. Hopefully these things are enough to show her anchors to Thailand... not to mention my fiancée and I have no interest in jeopardizing her compliance with our immigration laws and path to citizenship.
I guess in the end you have to take your swing at bat. If you don't try the answer is most certainly "No"!

nope..i had my mom came to my wedding from indonesia..she came with me on her visa tourist (b2) and me on fiance visa..my fiance at that time he wrote an invitation letter explaining the plan she will have in US, such as wedding (explain the wedding date) and camping and visit parents inlaw..just make sure she has something to proof that she will come back to her country for example letter of employment, house paperwork, mortgage, or any infestation she has...
and my mom cannot speak english..only broken english..and thats not a big problem because people who work in embassy usually has to master local language..I made a conversation guideline for my mom, and we practice on interview too.. so she is not so nervous
I believe she will have house paperwork, and she has 2 sons.
How will she be addressed at the US POE?

We are probably at least 3 months from the wedding as we are awaiting my fiancées interview.
We plan on going back to Thailand to have her Thai ceremony when my fiancée is able to reenter the US, but want her mother to be involved in both ceremonies. This is my fiancées special day and I want to attend to her wishes.
I would expect that I will finance the trip, and maybe even get find someone to work with her on some English, or maybe hire someone to escort her through the airports.
So maybe this isn't an impossible goal.
-
In final stages of K-1 process.
We would like my Thai fiancées mother to attend our US wedding ceremony. Is this just a pipe dream?
We are talking about a tourist visa or whatever appropriate non-immigrant visa would apply. Her family has limited means, and she doesn't speak English.
Is it unlikely that she can ever visit the US? Wedding ceremony aside?
What's the low down on this?
TIA

You have to understand how Bureaucrats work. They cherry pick the simplest files first. If they see someone who has a slightly convoluted case, it stays on the pile longer.

American Express PrePaid is by far the best.

So is it a reliable assumption that the Bangkok embassy comes to a grinding halt from the last week of November to mid January. Should I expect that if we don't get an interview date before this period it'll probably be after the 1st of the year?
