On March 1st we received an I-797, approval notice for my husbands ROC; it says he will be receiving his green card within 60 days. It very clearly says he has been approved. The notice was issued by the Houston Field Office. Today we received an RFE, I-797e, from CSC, requesting duplicate copies of evidence we already sent with the original application. This notice was dated March 14. What the heck happened?

Did he enter with family on a visitors visa and then did the father make an asylum claim ?
Hello Lady, longest time! I pray you are well. He entered illegally, and we are not sure how his father filed, just that he had a 10 year card that expired in 2014.

He was brought from Mexico illegally at 12 years of age, he has not been back since. His father filed for him 12 years later, but neither were ever citizens. His father was deported due to committing a crime and has since disappeared in Mexico. He has no paperwork from his previous filing, no idea what attorney his father used, just his expired green card. He was here legally for 11 years, and when he went in to have his name fixed on his card they told him he was out of status because of his father being deported. He hasn't received any notice of deportation or adverse action, just what they verbally told him at the local USCIS office in 2014; which would coincide with his 10 year card was expiring.
Because of the current situation in the area of Mexico where he is from he can not return to wait this out, his father and several of his family members have already disappeared from that area.
I know we need I-130, but am I reading correctly that you can file an I-485 if your current visa has expired, but you're the spouse and parent of citizens?

My friend has a bit of a complicated situation. She married her husband in the US in 2012. He was brought here as a child in 1991 illegally, his father filed for him in 2003 and he was had been a perm resident since that time. In 2014 his father was deported. Husband went to USCIS to have something on his work card corrected and was told he no longer had status as his father was deported.
I want to make sure we're filing the correct forms; I-130 and G-325a. Can he also do the I-485? The instructions can be construed both ways as he is not here legally through a technicality or no fault of his own. Also, do we need an I-864?
As always, THANK YOU, you guys are awesome!

It is as easy at they say to get your pin there, just go into the local office. That is what my Husband used to do there so I am sure about that. However, I have not heard of being able to print the logs off their site. That must be something new.

Ours was received on September 12th and is still showing pending!

While checking our status I see that the USCIS has released a portion of their manual. Does anyone know when they plan to open the rest? http://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual.html

CONGRATS! We have been waiting since Aug 14th, but we got an RFE...I am hoping to hear the same good news soon:)

We found that we couldn't just book online for Nigeria, without him having the credit card to show at the airport. I have heard a few that were able to, but I think they had to go in advance to the airport here and show the card there. We used AMR Travel out of Houston, their number is 713-952-4600. I know another lady on here used Adams Travel, they deal with Nigeria a lot too.

For Lagos we were asked for specific details, as were others interviewed around our same time. Even if he has nothing to show he should know details such as a venue and such. Good luck!

The tax transcripts should also break down the income from the 1099's or w-9's. We also sent in a letter from the employer as well, stating salary, just to cover all bases.

Yes, we have a friend that was just called in for Dallas with the same situation. Good to know there are others out there.

My understanding is that they are not eligible to receive help. That being said I have heard of a few cases where they did and the sponsor was left with the bill.I was told that a woman was in a wreck and had no insurance, the hospital put her on some kind of state emergency program, and the sponsor got the bill for $120,000.I have heard of a few other instances, but just stories. It would also like to know if the sponsorship include future children, if the immigrant has a child after they arrive would that child be included in this? I would guess no?

Thank you all for your responses. Not what she no I wanted to hear, but it is better to know exactly where you are.

And if they process due after the divorce is final, she is still liable for him financially for the next 40 work quarters, due to the original I-864 she signed?
-
One more quick question, would you recommend she still writes USCIS a letter to inform them of what is going on? Could that trigger an interview?
-
Thank you so much, that may just be her saving grace. I appreciate your knowledge & quick response.

And that applies even if ROC has not yet been approved?

Posting for a friend: My friend brought her Husband here and they celebrated their two year anniversary on October 1st. He had her sign the papers for ROC the next week, and then promptly left her. She is not trying to get him deported, but she doesn't want to be financially responsible for him. She called USCIS but they will not talk to her since it is his filing. I told her to withdraw her I-864. However, I am finding a lot of conflicting information here as to whether that is even possible once you have gone through AOS. Any advice?

Mine has been at NBC since September 12th & they still haven't reviewed it.

No you can pay at the local office. BUT the price is different from online so call first to see how bad they are going to get you. That was the problem with us & qatar. It took me like 2 weeks to figure out how to get the stupid ticket at a decent price. I was so stressed out over it. We ended up booking through the guy in Hosuton, AMD travel. We booked on December 30 and he flew out December 31st, 1500 non stop to Houston. Not to bad for the Holidays. I know the lady in Lagos has gotten some of our friends really good deals as well. I will try to find her number for you to have on hand just in case.

Femi, I will PM you on FB:)

We found the problem with quatar and other airlines here is they want you to go in or she will need to present your credit card when boarding. We booked directly through an agent in Houston and got a good deal. There is also a lady in Lagos that several of us have used with no problems. I rarely come on here, so if you want that info, tell Dwheels to let me know or PM me.
