  1. Hello everyone,

I requested a name change on my N-400 (filed based on 3 year marriage to USC) and I am scheduled for an interview in July. I would like to change my last name to my husband's last name.

However, I just read online that San Francisco Office does not offer any "judicial oath ceremonies," instead only offer administrative oath ceremonies where name change cannot be done unless you have a "court order."

Would a marriage certificate be sufficient if I am adopting my USC husband's last name? I appreciate any information or tips.

  2. Did any of you get an I-551 stamp in your passports at the end of the interview?

I had my AOS interview last week in STL and I was approved there and then. I, too had to sign the conditional residency letter. Both my EAD and I-94 were taken away. I have since gotten a "Welcome Letter" saying that I got approved for the GC. Now I'm just waiting for the plastic card to stop by.

I forgot to ask for one at the end of the interview. We also signed the conditional residency letter and she said we'll probably get approved. So I am not sure why I haven't received mine yet. Its good that your application is moving fast.

  3. When did you have your interview?? Not everyone's case lands on the supervisors desk. I have not yet heard anything. I am giving them time since there is nothing else I can do at this time plus I have exhausted all the help with no results. My husband and I decided to wait it out till our 2 year wedding anniversary and if by then I won't have the greencard we'll go ahead and file a writ of mandamus. In that way I will instead get a 10 green card. Wish you all the best. Keep me updated.

Well My interview was three months ago in April of 2011. I know you had your interview back in 2010. It seems like St. Louis is really slow at processing applications. I noticed that most people on this site seem to get their GC pretty soon after the interview. I wonder why it takes so long for STL. Did the immigration officer who interviewed you take your EAD and I-94 during your interview?

  4. Thanks everyone for the replies. I now realize i have made this immigration stuff stress me so much instead of just letting it take its course. At least i have EAD and AP. I have a very loving husband who really tries to understand. I feel so bad i have stressed him with this stuff. From now on i will just keep saying my prayers and not let this stuff come between us:)

    Thanks all again!

Hi, I had my interview in STL too. I haven't heard since my interview either. Do you have any updates on your case?

  5. Although my case was sent to NBC (Missouri), I had the AOS (I-485) interview in St. Louis. I filed I-485 and I-130 on April 1, 2011 and got approved at the interview. Got the passport stamped with I-551 and was told the GC will come in the next few weeks. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. I guess I need to make an infopass appointment to see why I haven't received mine yet or ask for passport stamp. When did you have your interview?

  6. I was wondering if anyone in the forum had their interview in St. Louis MO for AOS? I haven't heard back since my interview in April and am starting to worry. Although the USCIS website indicates that they are processing applications filed on or before December 5, 2010 as of May 30, 2011. My application was filed in early January. Any St. Louis applicants out there?

    Thanks!

  7. Hi I have been following the forum for while and I appreciate your input. Yesterday my husband and I had our aos interview. Interview went well (i think) Io officer however took my ead and i94 during the interview. Is that normal? Do you know how long after the interview I should expect email notification? She didnt stamp my passport either. I am just worried since she took away my ead. I applied for aos in early january.
