  1. Hi everyone,

I am a US citizen by naturalization, I have my brother "married and have 3 years old kid" and my sister "married and no kids" living in Egypt.

I want to sponsor then to come to the US "Green Card", is it true that it takes from 9-12 years to get their green card?

What if i apply for visiting Visa for them, can i sponsor them while them r living here in the US? How long it takes to get their green card if we apply from the US while they r here "California"

    Please Advice, thx

  2. I got notified via text and email that I have been scheduled for the oath ceremony. I will update with the dates once I receive the letter. Almost there!!!

    Question please

was your case decision "A Decision can not be made in your case" after the interview then the notified you the oth cermoney by text and e-mail, or you were approved in the interview day already?

    Thnaks.

  3. Thanks for your replay,

Actually i did not write my entire full name which was on the passport in the second section ""another name used", and the IO had wrote it himself and maybe that is the reason why? he might need to run my entire name to be checked before approval? if yes, how long it takes them to clear my name?

    ty

In addition to Darnell's reasons, I've read about cases where a decision couldn't be made because it was not clear at the time of the interview whether or not the applicant met the eligibility criteria. In some cases the applicant sent in the application a day early or didn't meet the 90 residency requirement or was suspected of having abandoned their permanent residency by staying out of the country for too long.

Regarding your name, I think if there was nothing else "strange" about your interview, you may have found the reason for the delay in your approval. The IO may not have been sure whether or not you needed a name change application. If you read the guidelines given to IOs, it's clear that whenever there is a conflict between the name on different documents, they have to go back to your birth certificate unless you have a legal name change document. If you didn't have a copy of your birth certificate, you may get an RFE requesting one. Or the IO's supervisor may simply decide that the name on your passport is your legal name and that that name should be the one on your certificate unless you fill out a name change request. If it's just a matter of confusion about the name, then this will probably be resolved quickly.

One possible complication could be the background check. Did you write your full name (the one on the passport) in the "other names used" section of the n400? If not, then they will have to run the background check again before they can approve you.

Please note that I'm just trying to offer you hopeful guesses based on what I've read... I have not been interviewed yet.

  4. variables that I've read about:

    1. IO not have your A-File during the interview

    2. IO not senior enough , a newbie, so must have supervisor oversight

    3. Backlog at that local office

    4. Final Final Namechecks not requested in a timely manner, and folk forgot about it

So, if I were in yer shoes, I'd engage the Constituent Liason at your Congressman's office (you have 3 congressmen, 2 REPS and 1 Senator) that serves as the Immigration Liason Staffer (ask who does this, via telephone); giving over a privacy release form, then

have that ILS human pound a bit with an inquiry.

    Report back here, when able.

so the IO was little not sure how is my name works because my forigen passort has full name consists of 6 names, while my green card only 3 names

is that why he put me on "a decision can not be made" ? if yes, how long it takes them to clear my name?

yes if they will not respond to me i will contact my senator

  5. Abo, was your interview in San Fernando Valley or San Francisco? That is sad to hear, hopefully you hear something back soon. That happened to me during my Adjustment of Status interview three years ago, the decision was not made and I was told that I would hear back within 30 days. My lawyer at that time did an infopass 30 days later from my interview three years ago, a day or so later I got an email notification saying that my AOS application has been approved. The next day I got another notice that my card was under production. Good luck and I hope you hear from USCIS very soon.

was in SF city in CA.

Ya i will wait 30 days :crying: if i did not hear back within 30 days i will request a infopass

  6. Tiferny yes my interview was at the San Fernando Valley Office. The interview went well the officer that interviewed me was really friendly but very detailed. He tested me on reading and writing, and also civics/history questions. After the test we went into detail with my applications. Overall it was good experience and the officer made it even easier. BTW how did you know it was the SFV office?

I had mine in SF TOO :crying: the IO was nice, i passed my civic/writing/reading test. BUT he gave a paper says "A decision can not be made on your application" and he told me to wait for our decision by the mail :crying:

    what a disappointment!

  7. Hi you guys,

I hope everyone is reading this will help me out understanding what is going on here?

I had my naturalization interview (3 years based on marriage to US citizen) in San francisco office, everything was ok, i passed my civic and english test. after the interview is done, the Officer handed me a paper says " a decision can not be made on your case now" and he said u will wait and hear from us in the mail?

why i see people gets "recommanded for approval" and yet he say i can not take a decision on ur case?

what is going on? what is gonna happened? is anyone in the same situation or had same experience?

    please advise

  8. question please

after my naturalization interview, the officer handed me a paper checked on (a decision can not be made about ur application), what does that mean? i was not approved? :(

i feel sad and lost, cuz some people post online that they were approved in same day. i passed my english and civic test though!

  9. question please

after my naturalization interview, the officer handed me a paper checked on (a decision can not be made about ur application), what does that mean? i was not approved?

  10. You don't have to write all that on the copy of the green card. I would advice you to send more evidence if you are applying under 3 year rule, because if you take them the day you have tour interview it might take longer for them to approve your application. If you are applying under the 5 year rule, ignor what I said. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for ur help, yes i am applying under 3 years,

another question, in the application, there r some question like that

is ur wife american yes () no () if yes go to question number 10 "for example" if no, answer the flowing

a- green card of ur wife---------------

    b--time shes permanent resident ----------

my question is lets say i answer yes, do i still need to put N/A on the blank spots that does not apply to me, or just leave it and go to the question i have to answer?
