  1. They want to see joint accounts or other evidence of intermingled finances. Best approach would have been to open up two or three joint accounts upon arrival, set up modest direct deposits to both ($50 to $100 per account would do), use debit cards on both to cover minor expenses (restaurant, drugstore, grocery, etc). and save each and every monthly statement in a file labeled "Immigration Paperwork". It's a hassle, but at least you're only being hassled.

People whose families resemble the TV show "Sister Wives" (polyamorous families) and people who have been sex workers within the past five years or so will be categorically denied permission to immigrate. Just in the past year or two it became possible for same-sex couples to get spouse visas - before then, they were also categorically denied. We all know that there are very serious lifestyle discrimination problems at USCIS, and that it will take at least several decades worth of federal lawsuits to get it corrected.

Not sure what I said to make you think I am a sex worker or sister wife... Thanks for your support. Wow.

  2. Just got an RFE letter in the post dated 12/28/13. Not sure why it took them almost 6 months to even look at our application. I will send them some more documents. Honestly I think they are ridiculous. Not every couple has joint bank accounts, owns a home, has a car and has kids. My husband doesn't even have a driver's license! They are welcome to come to our home and have tea with us any time though.

  4. My husband got his visa and passport back by courier this morning, but he was looking at the passport number on his visa and it is off by one number. He just booked his flight so now he may have to change it. He is calling the Embassy now and trying to find out what to do but I am a little pissed that they make us jump through all these hoops and pay hundreds of dollars and they can't type the numbers correctly. :bonk:

Hopefully this will be fixed sometime this week...next week...

Lesson Learned- So when you get your visa check it over carefully before running gleefully to the computer to book your ticket.

  7. Interview complete! My husband was approved this morning, he said the US Embassy in London was packed and they made an error and scheduled everyone that day at 9am. He was there a total of 4 hours as he got there at 8am. He got asked three simple questions by a nice lady filled out the courier form and he was done. Should get the package from the embassy in 7-10 days.

I am so excited I was trying to hug sparrows on my way to work this morning!!! :star:

    Good luck ShanSHAN!!!

  9. Hi everyone!

I decided to compile the list below-sort of 'At A Glance' for interviews (saw it on another thread and thought it was nice idea). If I missed anyone let me know :D

    SEPTEMBER 2011 INTERVIEWS:

    apeks September 2 (Canada)

    SandMax September 7 (Serbia)

    ivantulier September 7 (Philippines)

    ShanSHAN September 9 (Jamaica)

    Aya820 September 12 (Nigeria)

    the journey September 12 (Philipines)

    waiting066 September 15 (India)

Rosy & Philip September 23 (England)

    ZahidAntara September 26 (Bangladesh)

    raj1975 September 28 (Armenia)

    S&S88 September 28 (Pakistan)

My husband's interview is 9/9/11 in London :)

    So excited for everyone :star:

  10. I submitted my 1040 and W-2s and just made the I-864ez lines the same as the W-2s. I don't think it's crucial that an employment letter state salary. Mine went through fine anyway.

I did the same thing as you Virginian, and my I-864EZ was approved with no RFEs. I just entered my 2010 income to match my tax return and I also submitted an employment letter- my current salary is slightly higher than the 2010 figure, still I had no problems.

  11. Wow! That is awesome you have your interview date already. I'm well jealous.

Do you have to go for the medical? I'm a little confused when you're allowed to make the appointment in London? I thought you first had to do the medical before they make the interview date...

Still waiting for my approval for noa2, priority date is 25 April. Really really hope it is soon!!!

I am sure you will get your NOA2 soon! :)

My husband does have to go for his medical in London before his interview, he is going to schedule it asap to get it out of the way while he waits. They give you an interview date whether or not you have had the medical, at least in London- I don't know about other embassies. I think he could have gone during the NVC process but he did not.

  12. Check the "Immigration Timelines" section "IR1" subsection "full" and sort by NVC receive date to see who is getting what & when.

One of the most informed USCIS April filers (we'll call him "Dave") had to wait 40 days from NOA2 to NVC case#. He has spent the past 4 months helping everyone on VJ, and yet he had to wait SO long. No logic to the trends.

Once you have the case# it is possible to be done with billing and paperwork filing in 1 week, if you are exceedingly lucky.

Spend your time prepping so you will be ready to send your 3032, 840 and 230. After that it's about 2 weeks of scanning and checking to case closed & forwarding to embassy. Expect to get an interview date at least 1 month after the case closed.

So you can see there is hardly any wiggle room for an NVC expedite.

Until then, please understand that there are many here who have been waiting a VERY long time. Some still don't have their NOA2, and some are stuck in the USCIS mailroom --> NVC mailroom contractor holding pen.

For advice, read the "April 2011 USCIS filers" thread - about 650 entries there.

And the "CSC - NOA2 to NVC Delay" with 563 entries will give some tips and perspective too.

And to answer your question more direcly: calling every day just helps us all feel like we have some modicum of control and influence, but the effect is questionable at best.

    :)M.

What you said pretty much sums up what I was thinking!!! :star:
