Hi VJ's,
I just had my interview today. It was quick and easy. It only lasted like 15 minutes. The IO gave me a letter that I passed the interview and said wait for the letter for schedule of oath taking.
My timeline
7/29/2015 N400 packet sent
7/30/2015 Eligibility date
8/05/2015 Cash checked
8/26/2015 Biometrics interview
10/20/2015 Interview date
I'm nervous on how long before the oath taking. I read some here waited only days or weeks but some are months.
Are there any reasons why some takes a while before they are scheduled for oath taking? Thanks
-
Still waitin for decision after three month after interview
Still waitin for decision after three month after interview
Babsaa,
Did they ever give you a letter at the interview that you passed the interview?
-
Just wondering what is the hotel in front of USCIS pls? I will be having my citizenship interview next month. Thanks
-
What I understand from the email you received is that you were placed in line for interview.
Go to this link: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do and type in your case no. NBC*---------. I believe you should get this "Case Is In Line For An Interview"
Hi,
Just wondering why did you have your oath on a court? Thanks
-
Hi VJ's,
As I've been reading this thread,I've been assuming that ATL will take months before I receive my interview date. So I've been planning a trip to go to my home country. But luckily, I received my interview date today. Here's my timeline.
N400
7/31/15 priority date
8/26/15 Biometrics
9/15/15 sent the interview letter
10/20/15 schedule for interview.
I'm nervous because I haven't read anything yet

Thank you Lord for everything. since yesterday, all went well!

Thanks and good luck to everyone.

An approval notice can be faked more easily than a GC. Why didn't you check the state requirements before all of these wasted trips with improper IDs? You need the GC.
Hi Harpa,
yes, i did checked.it says, additional documents for non- US citizens:
- EAD with valid SSN
- valid visa ( with supporting docs) authorizing presence in the US for a period exceeding 160 days
_valid I-94
-original form I-797, notice of action, issued by the DHS showing approval of change of status
- original form I-797, notice of action, issued by DHS evidencing timely filing of an extension of stay
what i had before when i first went there was the I-94, EAD and SSN. then on the 2nd time, the corporal just based it on my I-94.
now the 3rd time, i showed the I-797 approval notice, EAD and SSN.
so i guess, i really have to wait for my GC. lucky for other states who was allowed just showing the EAD and SSN.
thanks
-
Your DL will have the same expiration of your GC when you get it. Means that your license expires when your green card does.
Hi Inky,
so what about those other states that they will allow you to have your DL even after showing the EAD and SSN? what are the basis of their expiration for their DL? thanks
-
You have to go by what your state's DMV says. Just because immigration says one thing doesn't mean that is how it's done. Two completely different offices. I'm telling you this from experience. Florida is a pain in the royal rear with documents, yet I know they do it that way because so many illegals have DLs.
Hi amesa,
really? Florida has a strict immigration thing also? do you have to show your GC before you were able to take the DL test? thanks

Hi fellow VJ's,
for the 3rd time, DMV refused me to take the learners permit for DL even i showed the I-130 approval notice and the I-485 welcome to the USA letter. she told us to just wait until the greencard arrived since they are going to based that for the expiration of my DL. ( what???)
1st time refusal: we went there and showed the EAD and SSN. she was looking for aprroval notice.we didn't have yet at that time. i even brought all the documents received from USCIS and even the interview letter.still didn't work.
2nd time: talked already to the Corporal. he refused us.he said i was already out of status. he based it through my I-94 and when the USCIS received it. it has been 6 days that i was out of status when the USCIS received our AOS packet.
During our interview on July 27, Atlanta, Georgia, even the IO was surprised that they didn't let me take the drivers license test compared to other state that as long as u showed your EAD and SSN, would be fine and they will let you.our lawyer even said, DMV people here are idiot. they were not fully aware of the immigration thing.
I'm getting irritated with them already. what else they would like me to show. well, when the time comes and received the GC, i hope they won't make ANY EXCUSES anymore to deny or refused me!

Hi,
Here is what's been going on with my AOS(I-485) so far.
7/27/2011- Interview in Atlanta that was neither approved or denied.
7/27/2011- Checked online status after interview and it was on "card/document production"
7/30/2011- Received a welcome notice in the mail. Online status still on "card/document production"
8/1/2011 - online status changed...... Previously it was on July 27, 2011 we ordered production of your card/document......... to On August 1, 2011 we ordered production of your new card.
8/2/2011 - Online status changed from card/document production to "Post Decision Activity" with this message,
Post Decision Activity
On August 2, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.
For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.
Dont know what to expect next........ Anybody had this happen to their case please let me know..... The wait is killing me.
Thanks
Hi jbbig321,
same thing that happened to me. i guess because we have the same interview date (July 27) and the same field office ( ATL).
after our interview on July 27, we checked it online also and the I-485 was card/document production. on the interview, she indirectly told us that we were approved. she told us to check it online and wait on the mail.she discussed also regarding the ROC.
i received the I-130 that it has been approved yesterday (Aug 1) and the I-485 welcome to the USA .
i checked the USCIS website and changed to on Aug 1, we ordered production of your new card.
and today, Aug. 2, it changed to Post/ Decision activity. we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS.
I'm not worried to much now since i know they have approved it.we will be waiting our GC in the mail pretty soon.
so my next step is to go to DMV this week since they refused me 2x even i showed my EAD and SSN and all the documents i received from USCIS. they wanted to see the approval notice. lets see whats gonna happen this time =)
-
Congrats, karah!Still nothing here..sigh! Havea good one!
Thanks prep.mac,
hang on there. there might just delay for you but i'm pretty sure, u will receive something in the mail. thank you so much for all of your help and advices.

today we received the I-130 noting that our application has been approved and received also the "welcome to the United States of America." Our interview was on July 27, 2011 and there was no decision on the spot but she told us we can check it in the website and wait it on the mail. she also discussed to me regarding the ROC. the interview went well and its more of conversational. she asked mostly about our relationship and when did we decided to get married since i came here on B2 visa. these has been my 3rd time coming to the US before we got married. i think it lasted like 15-20mins and she went out 2x to photocopied our ID's and our evidences.
Thank you fellow VJ's for all the insights and advices. this forum helps me a lot and gave me good informations. all us here are like families and we have same goals to be with our loved one. thank you so much and God bless to all.

Hi karah0215,
I dont if you remember my other post..... I was worried coz my IO (July 27, 2011) in Atlanta told me that I needed a waviver for working without a work permit before preoceeding with my AOS but she neither denied or approved my case. And like yours I checked my online status and it was on Card/Document production. I didnt know what to make of it or what to expect. Needless to say Im really surprised to find a welcome letter in the mail today....... 3 days after the interview which I thought didnt go as well as it could have. The letter does say that the Permanent Resident Card will arrive within the next 3 weeks.
Hi jbbig321,
i already received today the "welcome to the united states of america" letter and also that I-130 has been approved! so happy. Thank you God! since were from Dothan and your from Birmingham, maybe thats the reason why yours came earlier than mine. pls let me know whenever you receive your GC. thank you so much
-
Yes.... my I-130 is was approved back in March, 2011. I went a different direction in that I filled I-130 first and I got a approval on it in about 4 months, then filled I-485. And yes my I-485 online status is still on card/document production. Thanks and hope you get yours soon too.
Hi jbbig321,
oh i got you. so you filed first the I-130 before the I-485.. i hope to receive also a welcome letter in the mail next week since were from Dothan. thank you so much for that information.i'm crossing my finger.

Hi jbbig321,
wow, thats really fast. i haven't check our mail today so i dont know if we have a welcome letter too.. does your I-130 USCIS account change from initial review to approved? ours are still the same to "intial review" and the I-485 still card/document production. i hope we will hear something in few more days. congratulations to you!
-
No worries. My husband's interview was in Atlanta (28 June 2011). You were approved. My husband received the actual green card in ten days. The IO gave us an approval letter, but I have heard of others that have not. I guess it depends on what type of mood the IO is in.
Hi Black Velvet,
our IO was young. i think she's on her 30's only. she indirectly told us that we were approved.i asked her if she's going to stamp my passport and she said they dont do that anymore since the card comes into mail fast already.but she told us that we can wait it in the mail and can check it in their website.she also discussed to me the ROC. i hope that meant that we were approved.she also took my I-94
i hope we can receive it also the GC within 10 days as yours.waiting time is killing me lol =) thank you so much
-
Hi Karah,
I just checked my case status on USCIS website and it says they ordered my card production again TODAY. I googlged and many people had the same situation. It's kinda weird. My I-130 still initial review... Can't wait to actually have the GC in hand!
Keep me posted with yours
Hi Mr. Thai,
our are still the same. card/document production. i hope we will be receiving our GC in mail soon also. anyway, Congratulations! =)

Hi thebighash,
I would like to ask what took it 3 months to schedule you the oath taking? I just had my interview today so your response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
