  1. Hello,

I would like to bring my in-laws and brother-in-law to visit from India for a few months. Most important are the in-laws, as we will be having a baby soon. Does anyone know if it will hurt my in-laws' chances of getting a tourist visa if my brother-in-law (their son) files along with them, since he is currently un-married? He does have a job in India.

    Thanks.

  2. Hi all,

I thought there was a web site where we could track when the passport with visa is ready for pickup (New Delhi), but I can't find it now (my wife just got approved today, thank God!). Does someone know? I tried the courier service site where we had registered for pickup but I can't find anything there. Also tried the New Delhi embassy web site. Thanks!

  3. Hello,

Somehow, both my lawyer and I missed doing the DS-260. I happened to find out about it just yesterday, and aim to complete it tomorrow. I see that it mentions sending some documents to the NVC. My wife's interview is in 2 weeks. Has anyone else completed the DS-260 that close to the interview date and still been approved for their visa at the interview??

    Thanks.

  4. Hi,

My wife recently got her medical done. She did not have a vaccination record with her as she said most people in India don't have them. She has gotten a Polio vaccine before but no Hepatitis vaccines. Anyhow, when the physician asked her for her vaccination record and she said she didn't have one, he said an expression in Hindi which basically translates to, "Oh then nothing can be done for you." But he had her get 2 shots: Adacel 0.5 ml, and Tresivac - (measles+mumps+rubella) 0.5 ml. I looked up Adacel and according to Wikipedia, that is for Tdap.

When she picked up her medical report, besides the 2 sealed envelopes she was also given a copy of her Vaccination Documentation Worksheet. At the bottom, 2 checkboxes are checked:

    - vaccine history incomplete
    - applicant may be eligible for blanket waiver(s) because vaccination(s) not medically appropriate (as indicated above)

Has anyone seen something like this before? I'm worried now that at the interview, they may say she needs to get more vaccinations (?).

    Thanks!

  5. Hi guys,

To those of you who have successfully obtained a CR-1 Spouse Visa from the the New Delhi consulate, could you please tell me how long after the interview you got your passport with visa stamp inside? Was it right away, at the interview, or did you have to come pick it up later? I am trying to figure out when to buy plane tickets for my wife and I to the U.S. I know of course that they always caution that you shouldn't buy anything until after you actually have the visa, but I'd like to in advance anyway.

    Thanks!

  6. That is beyond ridiculous! I have paid my lawyer something like $1600 total and she takes care of everything necessary in that price. You need to get a different lawyer.

Hello, i am waiting my CR2 process which is delayed so I asked my lawyer to send an email to NVC

for more information about my visa then she sent the email...

and now she is charging $600 for this email crying.gif

i would like to know if this is normal in America

my father's wife said that she charges $250 for a 30 minutes conversation ranting33va.gif

and we have already paid $9000 for her to fill out our process

  7. When you all are talking about adding the "spouse name" to the passport before getting the PCC, are you just saying that the wife's last name should be updated to the married surname, or are you saying that on her passport, they will actually write my (the husband's) name as well??

    Thanks!

  8. Is it because USCIS customer service reps are soooo nice and polite to us all? So God forbid being rude with them

Actually both times I have called, they have been very polite with me.

Anyway, here is my update, if it helps anyone...

I did call again yesterday and asked to talk to a Tier 2 representative to find out if my file is still at NBC or elsewhere, and the lady told me that I would have gotten a letter if it had been transferred. A couple of hours later, I got the text and email that my application had been approved on Mar. 29! Obviously my calling yesterday had nothing to do with that. I did call once last week as previously mentioned, but I personally don't think that had anything to do with it either. The last time my file was touched was Mar. 20, when they updated my address since I moved.

I hope everyone else's gets approved soon too! There is definitely hope!

  9. I think where your file is plays a bigger role then what month you are. There are many people from Aug still waiting. Some local offices are holding I130's and have not even started working on them. I think the lucky few that stay at the NBC get approved faster. As mine never left the NBC and was approved fast. But it also ended up getting lost before getting to the NVC. So there is no telling what will happen to your file. Your best bet it to find out where it is and go from there.

OK. I did call last week but it was a tier 1 rep who just read out loud the info I get from the web site. Should I call again and just right away ask to speak to a tier 2 person? Do I need to provide a reason? I just don't want to sound rude, like I'm going above the tier 1 person or something.

    Thanks!

  10. Have you called to see where its at? Sometimes its best to call and speak to 2-3 immigration workers to know what's going on. I do not believe just one person.

If you haven't called USCIS, I strongly suggest you do. This will sort of ease the tension. Good luck.

Mine is Dec. 24... but is there really any point in calling them, when it is still less than 5 months? I don't know what I would say to them...

  11. Employers in USA issue a W9 stating how much one earned during the year, and with the info on the W9, the tax form 1040 is filled out. It is just backup info to support what is on the 1040 form. 1099s are forms giving the taxable interest on money in bank accounts, etc. So again, they are back-ups to the info filled on the 1040.

Anyone who filled out a 1040 should have the backup W9s and 1099s also. Of course, if there is a private business or no taxable income from a company, then there would be no W9s and if one doesn't have money in savings accounts or CDs where there is interest, there would be no 1099s, either.

    I think you mean W-2.

  12. Hey everybody,

I have written a couple of posts on the whole PCC issue and read a lot of other people's posts and threads. People here have been very helpful, which I really appreciate. However, different people have, with the best of intentions, advised different things, and in reading other threads I also see that there are various suggestions as to what exactly is needed when it comes to PCC's.

I am thinking of directly emailing the Mumbai Consulate with our situation and asking what exactly they will need. My question to everyone here is-- has anyone in the past asked the consulate what PCC's they will need, then followed that, but then still were told at the interview (or at the VFS office) that they were missing something? I would think that since the PCC's will be reviewed by the consulate (or the VFS office?--another point of confusion), that what the consulate tells me should be what they actually need. What do you think? Or, should I ask the people at the VFS office?

    Thanks so much.

  13. DONT WAIT, I never received my packet 3, If you are applying in New Delhi then just download the forms then US embassy's New Delhi's website (DS 230 and Applicants statement form) fill them and email them along with the photo....please dont wait its a complete waste of time.... do this ASAP.

    Thanks

One should still wait until the consulate has at least received the file, right? We just got our NOA2 approved 8/2/11, and I was thinking we should wait to send in Packet 3 stuff until we have notification that the file has been received at the Mumbai Consulate. Otherwise they would probably lose the stuff we send or something...

    Thanks.

  14. Yes, the consulate decides on the interview date. I'm emailing the consulate all the packet three forms today....And I think her interview will be in late September.

Thanks. One more thing-- I am downloading the forms needed with Packet 3 from the Mumbai Consulate web site. The Packet 3 instructions say to fill out form DS-156 (Nonimmigrant Visa Application), but on the Mumbai Consulate web site I see that they have a DS-156 and also a DS-156-K (Nonimmigrant Fiance(e) Visa Application). Do you or anyone else happen to know which one my fiancee should fill?

    Thanks!
