  1. To My Fellow VJ's,

I really need your help with this.. we are planning to get my SSN this friday, and when i checked what do i need for SSn i found out i need my valid I-94 .. But i guess its expired since Feb.11.2012 .. i didnt realized about SSN.. i thought i should the EAD first before the SSN.. now i dont have valid I-94 to present them.. :( what should i do to get SSN

    Thank you in advance

When I applied for my SSN my I-194 was already exprired too. It does not matter, just bring your I-194 with you even if it is expired and bring the following documents that you have; Marriage Contract,EAD card, passport,Driver's License if you have one,Greencard if you already have one and the letters or notification sent to you by USCIS or department of homeland security - that will not be necessary but it would be good to have for evidence or documentation. Hope that helps. Good luck!

  2. I have travel many times back and forth to Philippines and seem on each flight either go or come from there. Child/Minors traveling by themselves. You will need to inform the Airlines that they will be traveling alone. From what I saw they all where taken care of well. from boarding, transfer to connecting flight to final destination. There will be someone escorting them from each gate to arrival area in the airport at final destination.

    Hi Wally Greene,

I feel relief from hearing that. Could you imagine how worried I am.

    Thank you!

  3. Is Detroit the end of their flight or are they continuing beyond Detroit and Detroit is just the Point of Entry?

    What are their ages?

The biggest issue is when they stop in Japan. They have to get off of the plane, go through security and then wait to re-board the plane for the next leg to Detroit

Detroit airport is easy to get through, especially if you have a domestic flight to catch out of Detroit. The problem sometimes is getting through customs quick enough to catch your domestic flight.

As far as flight attendants, they should be very helpful on giving them any advice. They will even help them fill out their declaration forms.

    Hi BestofBoston,

Yes Detroit will be their port of entry. I am however anticipating one stop over to Tokyo Japan then from Japan to Detroit. I am still trying my best to get them non-stop flight though.

    Thank you!

  4. My kids will be travelling alone from the Philippines to Detroit Michigan. Can anybody share their experiences. I will not be able to be with them for several reasons, for one is my work. I am just worried on how the attendants will take care of my kids.It will be a very long flight and I feel really bad that I cannot be able to travel with them. Any advice anybody. Thank you!

  5. My kids are still in the Philippines and I am working on their documents so I can bring them here in the U.S before 1 year of my visa issuance. They will be under K2 to follow. I am annulled and my kids are living with me since my ex husband and I separated 5 years ago. I have not hear from the father of my kids for 5 years now. On my annulment decree it does not state there anything about my kids legal custody.

    My questions are:

    1. Can I bring my kids here in the U.S without their father's consent since he is nowhere to be found and cannot be contacted.

    2. Will I have any problem at the airport immigration on the day of my kids flight to the U.S

    Hoping for your advices Vjers.

    Thank you

  6. Just need some help here.. My fiancee did day 1 of his medical today and was given a receipt with a date to return next week and to pay an additional 1000 pesos... has anyone every experienced this before? Also, I need more on info on the CFO and what to do.. please help! Thanks!

No did not pay another 1000 pesos upon returning after my medical exam. Did you ask your fiancee what is the 1000 for? Does he need to take additional medical procedure upon his return? If yes maybe that is what the 1000 pesos is for. About CFO, make sure you bring all the documents they require to bring. Visit their website and find out what are the necessary documents you need to bring with you. Good luck!

  7. Hello VJyers, I am here in the US under K1 visa and have already applied for AOS. Got here July 28th, 2011 and I want to get my kids ages 5 and 7 who are still in the Philippines early next month. I decided not to bring them with me because I wanted to get a job first and help my fiance' and now husband with all the expenses and also to make sure that when my kids get here I would be able to take care of them financially and not just depend on my husband. Can anybody here who have kids that followed them in the US under k2 visa share their experience and share how the process is please. I would be very grateful and very much appreciate it.

Thank you guys and God bless everyone

  8. hi guys,

Just wanna ask how long does i take for Civil Surgeon to transfer infos from the DS- 2053 to I-693? And / or ho long time does it take to get things done from Civil Surgeon for us to get the I-693? I know I only have 1 vaccination to get as instructed by St. Lukes. And uhm, had anyone been given flu shots? And also, my last medical was just October '11 - wanna ask you guys, do we have to get that tb test ( which i thik is kindda wierd coz with our medical before the embassy interview that is one reason why we have the chest xray's, right? Did anyone also redo their physical exam?

Before you go to a civil surgeon you might want to get the form I-693 online and fill it up and bring it to the civil surgeon or they will/can provide the form for you and you fill it up when you get to their clinic. I never took any vaccination ever, even in St. Lukes my fiancee and I waived it but I still needed to have the tuberculin test because it is a must. After your done with your medical exam the civil sugeon will give back the forms you filled up and you will be the one who will submit it to USCIS upon filling for AOS.

  9. Hello everyone, ask ko lang if anybody knows how long will it take for me to get my kids who are still in the Philippines. I am under K1 visa and I am planning to work on getting them early next year. I waited months because I wanted to get my EAD and get a job to help paying for the fees needed and all the expenses.

Do no worry about it Preciousone mine had a tiny cut too and I did not have any problem(thank God) when I get to my POE.

Your visa is printed inside your passport. You can open the plastic and get your passport.

    God bless and Good luck

  12. We wanted to see if anyone has any ideas how soon the interview date will be after we get our NOA2. We sent our I129F at the end of April, and got our NOA1 on May 5. We estimate we should get our NOA2 at the beginning of October and I am very anxious to buy my plane ticket to see my love to be there for her interview. Does anyone have any good estimates? Thanks for the help.

    Paul and Haidee

    Hi,

I agree with souleymon. I got my NOA2 mid of May it still had to go to NVC for 1 week. After case is complete in NVC we called USem Manila to confirm if they already received my case forwarded by NVC. I also emailed USem Manila to ask if we can schedule an appointment for interview without the eligibility letter coming from USem. After USem replied saying I should no longer wait for the eligibility letter I went to BPI bank and pay visa fee then schedule my appointment online June 2nd and got an interview appointment July 15. Received visa on hand July 23rd.

So yea, if I were you I would book a ticket yet until you know when is her interview date. Good luck and God bless!!!

  13. Not sure where your layovers are, but Delta includes all fees and taxes in their tickets. I know you have to pay the terminal fees when you leave the Phils. Don't know what international airports you're flying through, so could be terminal fees there. I know there are no fees in Japan and definitly no fees or taxes after you enter the US.

Thank you very much for the info! I am flying with Delta does this mean I dont have to pay travel tax that costs 1,700 pesos? I have e-ticket and my fiance' bought it for me.

  14. Of course it all depends on what you want to do during your layovers...but, no matter, I would definitely bring dollars unless you have a major credit card. If flying via Japan, they will not take pesos and you cannot exchange pesos there but they will take US$ at the airports. Also, if going via HK or Seoul, I believe they also will not exchange pesos but will take or exchange US$. This has been my experience during my travels when I've had pesos left over from a visit to the Phils.

Once you enter the US at your POE, you will need US$ for just about anything you buy. If you have connecting flights in the US and want to purchase food on delta, they also only take US$ or CC.

Again, depends on what you want to do, but I know your gonna see some little something in the airport gift shops that you're gonna want to buy. I would bring at least 100 US$ for a flight like this...I mean you could have an emergency...you never know. IMHO

Thanks for your replies guys. I was just wondering if I will be paying any fee like terminal fee on my lay overs :)

  15. Hi guys, just want to ask if anybody here who will go and attend CFO counseling on Monday? I will be going to St. Mary's Euphrasia for the guidance and counseling coz I already have my passport w/ visa with me and according to what I have read online it is more convinient for people who already have their visa to go there because you dont need to go to diffrent place to get the sticker. Once youre done with the counseling you can get the sticker at the same place and time.

Hope may makasabay ako on Monday! :)
