  1. I used a lawyer and the only time I showed any proof besides my marriage certificate was at the interview. We only knew each other 4 months before marriage and were married one year 2mths on the day of our interview. We had enough evidence to pass our interview. My husband has been home 12 days now feel free to ask me any questions the info is fresh in my mind and should still be relevant for a while.

  2. Hi all,

I just found out that San Francisco City Hall is closed from Dec 9 to the New Year.

In short, they will not be issuing any marriage licenses, or conducting any ceremonies there.

My POE is Dec 12 (the date cannot be changed) and I was hoping to get married ASAP so that I can apply for my work visa ASAP.

Can anyone advice what my other options are? For example:

    1. Can my fiance collect our marriage license beforehand, and we find a celebrant to marry us? (but..i think we need both parties to be around to get married)

    2. Can we travel to somewhere nearby? Maybe Napa and get it done there? Vegas is an option...but...trying to see if there is anything nearby.

Why would a government office be closed for so long?! it's unheard of where i come from!!

    14.

Beneficiary travels to and enters the U.S.

Beneficiary travels from their country to be with the U.S. Petitioner (Fiance(e)) in the US.

*Must enter the US within (typically) 6 months of the K-1 being issued.

    5-20 minutes 15.

Point of Entry (POE) in U.S.

Beneficiary arrives at Point of Entry (POE) in U.S. and shows K-1 to the immigration officer.

    1 hour 17.

    Apply for marriage certificate

Apply for marriage certificate. Must marry within 90 days of entering the U.S. on a K-1 visa.

So as long as entry is before 6 months its fine and marriage should be within 90 days your time line shows 2011-12-12 as the intended entry date so as long as you marry within 90 days of that date its fine.

If you really want to have the specific wedding date in mind or for work you can marry anywhere in the US. Road trip Vegas Baby!!

Good luck and congrats on your approval

  3. OK now here is the big question .. how do i deal with an upset fience

She loves you this is an emotional process a small bump in the long road ahead. I doubt she will bail, if she does it saved you on divorce number 4. This is a small rain shower to get through compared to the storms of life you will face together in marriage. <-(the proceeding was just my 2cent)

But as to your question what to do..

Post some flowers with a sweet poem get on your job with the papers and enjoy life

  4. I am worried now. My case moved so fast my NOA2 has been expedite 23 days after NOA1 so fast.. I am worry the NVC will slow it down.. How long the NVC center holds the cases ... Thank you

Like everyone else replied don't be worried be prepared. If your embassy has interviews when you case is complete you will get an interview. I don't think the NVC wants to hold any case some people get a date really fast like in days some get like us after 74days. Good luck and I know its hard but soon you will look back on this and remember when as you walk holding hands with your love :blush:

  5. tell me about it (long calls) best ever...you can talk all day, just after 22 min. hang up call back lol..., but I just called the company and they said I should have a call log in a few hours in my inbox..I'm looking forward to that...but thanks for the heads up....

Im sooo glad I spoke to you I will be getting El torro I spoke to a rep and she says I can use the card and request records

    Every penny counts

  6. Hi, thanks for the info...but I use a calling card company called...comfi.com... it has the best rates I've seen so far, the lowest for haiti was 16. something cent per minute, and for 10 dollars I get an hour, 20 an hour and a half so on and so forth...they have a variety of cards to choose from so if one doesn't work for you, you can try another one, saturn was the best for haiti, but now I see they have one called el toro, with better rates than saturn...the only thing is they keep all of your invoices but no call log to see where you're calling...I became an addict and was spending way tooo much money on cards so I started to use the regular cards...actually i started to use the digicel cards before they became like 6 min. for 2 dollars, and from there I went to the regular calling cards...but that's what I have now a huge stack of calling cards, from when I stoped throwing them away..I bought a stack for my fiance when I went to haiti and I started a new one for last month with more than a few hundred dollars worth of cards...I mean who else would i be calling that much if it's not your man...or woman...lol...but I don't think those companies offer a call log either..so I'm think of making a collage and sending in a picture of all the cards...atleast I did the best I could....but thanks a million for the rebtel..I did check them out and still comfi.com is the best...I also tried the 40 dollars a month thing myhaitimobile.com..but they suck...signal was always down and still had to buy phone cards..customer service sucked as well...so after a month did not pursue it....but u should give comfi a try...Good luck on everything!!!

Oooh thanks I will try them too, and keep the Rebtel tho for indisputable evidence.. The interviewer is a person who can decide the cards are not evidence. I have read posts where they were rejected as evidence because the person could not prove who they called, with cards alone. It is more money but to have the evidence and get my baby home I will pay the price and try Saturn on the side ;) . I miss the long call it was the BEST!!!

  7. Hubby had his interview this morning at 8:30am. He was there for 4 hours. The CO asked 2 questions. Looked at both albums. We had a small ceremony and a huge one later. She commented on how gorgeous both weddings were and said thats all she needed to see. He will pick up visa in 3-5 working days. GOD IS GOOD!!

    :D :D :D CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

  8. I use alot of calling cards and I wanted to know how do I provide that as proof of our relationship. I thought of making a collage and taking a pic and sending it etc. or do I just send the whole stack...lol..please help..thanks

    You should use http://www.rebtel.com/

I have over a years worth of phone records with them I call a local number and that connects me to my Husband. The thing that is so cool is that they keep all the call logs online it shows that you called your loved ones number in Haiti so it can not be disputed that you called. You can program it to call many different international numbers no pin at all.

So you just dial the local number for example you live in NY you would call 212-111-1111 and it would tell you please wait while we connect your call the phone rings and your loved one picks up. For Haiti its 23.6 cent per min. The Government is charging an extra 5 cent per minute now on all incoming calls to Haiti  !! But it is the cheapest I have found as well as you get the evidence you need that you speak to you loved one often.

You can reload it from your phone quickly so if you are ever out and about but you neeeed to call asap you just dial the number and press 1 1 1 to load $10 worth of credit and talk to your hearts content.

I know I said a lot I promise I do not work for the company I am just so happy to have found them a year ago because I have irrefutable proof that I speak to my husband every day several times a day :D .

    Hope this helps

  9. i WANT TO, i JUST GOTTA FIGURE OUT HOW! I SPOKE TO A LAWYER HERE. BUT EVERYONE IS SAYING THAT ITS BEST TO WAIT UNTIL I GET MY RESULTS SO HE DOESNT MESS UP MY FIANCEES PAPERS

That sounds smart and when it is over you can do it so others who are not on VJ don't suffer from his greed! and incompetence!

  10. Thanks all the info.. Going in a car seems like a great Idea. I don't want to get the run around from some money hungry Doctor

That bad guy should be reported to the embassy and be taken off the list!!

PAPUNMANMU I look forward to your reply.

  11. Hi Fellow Haitian embassy VJ'ers,

Were reaching the home stretch and we want to make a good end of this.

So my question is which doctor should we choose in Port au Prince for the Medical exam?

I know Dr. Michel Théard is a complete NO!!!! Someone recommended Dr. Jean Hénold Buteau but my husband was told he is located in a dangerous area.

So that leaves Dr. Eddy Jean Baptiste and Dr. Victor A. Bernard Bouchereau. Has anyone used either of these two? and Is Dr. Michel Théard the problem or is it the whole office because Dr Eddy Jean Baptiste works in the same office...

    Hoping someone can help :help:

  12. From what I understand they look at the past year 2010 and your current earnings it will be up to the interviewer but since your last years earnings are well below the poverty level you should line up a co sponsor as a back up plan. You may make it through but its best to be prepared if you do not. Its not a complete denial it is a snag.

As for proof of relationship photos phone records financial statements linking the two of you correspondence. Good luck

  13. I think the best answer is that it depends on your embassy. It can take a day or 90 + days. It is the toughest wait I have ever experienced because the NVC keeps you in the dark with no hint of when the date could be. They all say the same thing either they are all really well trained to keep their process a secret or they truly do not know which is odd. Any how Just keep holding on your day will come. All of our other Journey members here who have made it through are proof!!

  14. Our case was completed on April 5th, 2011 and we are still waiting for an interview at the Cairo Embassy. We are really hoping it is in early September. I cant handle the wait any longer too. So far on the 16th week after CC(NVC). When we call all they say is call next month on the secodn week each month we call. Grrrr... :clock:

Oh no the 5th of April.. Ours was the 17th of June and I was sooo sure we would get August because of others time lines. But not date yet I am now hoping or September. The end of the scheduling period next month we will reach the 8wk mark. The no August date was a huge let down so I am not acting like I am sooo sure we will get September :( but cautiously hoping..

  15. Sorry for so many questions, but I'm gearing up to get the package sent off this week so there's a million things running through my head (I'm a perfectionist!!) as to how to actually put it all together and keep it all together, what to include or not include, and in what order. Any tips would be absolutely fabulous!! :D

As far as evidence goes, I have printed off about 75 pages of emails and chats from the past 3 years. And that was taking maybe three or four email messages per month, as well as some chats. I have also gathered all my phone records as well. But my cell phone bills are totaling around 175 pages. My question is, should I include all of them? Or maybe every other month? Should I just copy the pages where it shows the details of calls?? That would take away around 60 pages if I did that....What is the rule of thumb between sending enough without completely overwhelming them as opposed to just sending everything so that you can show complete evidence???

For plane tickets, can I just make copies of my online receipts/itineraries? Or should I make copies of my boarding passes as well??

For pictures, I don't have that many, maybe 10. Do I just stick them in with all the other evidence? Or should I like glue them to a piece of paper or print on 8.5x11 photo paper so I can give an explanation of each one?

Also, should I include a letter of how we met, got married, etc.? Is that necessary??

Is there any other evidence I'm forgetting that is pretty standard/important to send??

    Thanks in advance!!!!!

I am at the last stage of my CR1 process and I never sent ANY!! Evidence except our marriage certificate as proof of marriage. We have been approved every step of the way. I know people here seem to be anti lawyer but I used one. If I went with everything I read here I would have sent e-mails, pictures, letters from loved ones, every piece of every thing I could think of. But according to my lawyer the marriage certificate was enough evidence until the interview. I am now waiting for my interview date I will have tons of pictures airline tickets text messages you name it I will have it. I have heard of people sending evidence too soon and then when they really needed it it was not back in their hands.

This is just my VJ though if you can replicate the evidence over and over again knock your self out for peace of mind. I trusted my lawyer and it paid off so best of Luck to you it won't be an easy wait but just keep looking forward to the day you two are together!!

  16. Am I the only one feeling very sorry for the guy here? I definitely don't agree with his threats to commit suicide, but if I'm reading this thread correctly:

    1. The OP is quite sure her husband did NOT come to the U.S. just to get a green card.

    2. Later the OP reveals that "her daughter" is in fact "THEIR daughter," i.e., the man stands to lose his biological child! In that situation I'd be depressed as hell too. (OP--If I misunderstood you on this point, I apologize in advance.)

    3. It doesn't seem that the OP is divorcing her husband for any concrete reason--just vaguely defined "incompatibilities." If I gave up everything I had in my home country to be with another person, I'd definitely expect my spouse to try counseling and not give up on our marriage too soon! The OP admits they have not been married long, and some period of adjustment is normal.

OP--I don't have all the facts, but please try to understand your husband's position, and make sure you've done all you can to make your marriage work.

I know you say he is leaving soon but Math Man is correct. There is a lot we do not know but, its a marriage and a child. Can you guys go for counseling to work out the difference. There seems to be no cheating some emotional manipulation but nothing that you guys can not work on from what you have shared. This is a very hard process but many marriages have survived horrible first years. You said you acted with your heart too quickly before, give your selves and your family some more time and seek the support you need.

I know this is not the question you asked.. so to answer that one; if you decide to go on and divorce him DO NOT LIE TO THE GOVERNMENT! Your child could loose both their parents if you guys are caught which seems like you could easily be with all the the circumstance you described.
