  1. Congrats Matt and Deb. I also had my interview today and was approved. I worrired though then the consular officer said it will take 2weeks. I got scared maybe it is in administrative processing, do you how long they told Matt it will take? A bit worried.

They told him 7 to 10 business days which more or less could be two weeks.... It looks like based on past London interviews it will be roughly 5 days. Yeah! you made it.

  2. I have my interview at the London Embassy tomorrow for my K1. Absolutely petrified but not sleeping so relieved the day is here. We realised 3 weeks ago that my fiance, as she was still a student, did not meet the financial requirements so her dad has filled out an I-134 form as well as her and I have his tax returns and bank statements for the previous 3 years. I also have a letter and bank statement from my Mum committing to pay me £500 per month until I am able to work, so blessed to have great family support.

Any final advice/tips for me. Feel like this is the biggest day in my life.

With her dad being a co-sponser and you having all the documents, you should be AOK.... They are friendly! Wishing you all the best!

  3. Matt's interview was today in London. He was scheduled for 8:30. He didn't sleep the night before and I didn't sleep all night knowing he was in route and going through it all on his own. We both have tried really hard to stay positive, however one thing I NEVER mentioned was the facet that he is in the process of dealing with a minor run in with the police that happened in the US last September. We have been so nervous and done all the research, as well as work as diligently as possible to satisfy the issue. Our fear has been that there isn't really any research you can do to tell you what we would be up against in the interview process..... We did decide however that the truth would be our best bet and that having ALL supporting evidence would at least show those truths.

After a two hour wait he was finally called to the 1st window where she took all his documents. Then sent back to sit again and he heard his number called, but it never appeared on the screen so luckily he was listening. They asked ONE question about our relationship, "when are you planning to be married?" The rest of the time was spend going over all of the legal documents and many questions. The man before him that he had been sitting next to had been denied so his confidence was low at this point and he was trying to figure out what to say to me if he were denied. But that man before him was lacking many of the required documents. So FINALLY after all the paperwork had been reviewed the CO said "well, ok you've got it." WHEW!!!

In the end I think if you are honest and have all the documents required to back up any situation you may be facing they will let you get on with your life. We are both so thankful.... It seems surreal after all this time and all the worry.... It's worry enough with-out a legal issue to over come.... I share this piece of our story incase there is anyone else with any minor criminal issues. Deal with them and have all the documents to support it and above all be honest.

Thank you for all the support and stories. It has been most helpful. Next we get married and start the AOS

  4. My fiance send me his affidavit of support with his signature on it through mail. But just now I discovered a typo in my address. How can it be fixed? I can't print out a new one because then I won't have his original signature on it. Please help.

    thanx.

Probably depends on how bad the typo is? If it is just a miss-spelling you may be ok, but if it is wrong numbering I would say get another one filled out and maybe overnight it to you?? Just a suggestion.

  5. w00t! Just got the call from my fiance that all went well and his visa was approved!! Many thanks to those of you who have chipped in when I was a newbie and helped lead us towards today.

Advice to those of you just starting the process now...positive, positive, positive! Don't bring each other down. Research as much as you can, learn learn learn and ask questions even if they're stupid. Don't stay at home. Get a hobby! Something new and exciting.

Good things come to those who wait, however impatiently ;)

woohoo! See you all in AOS! :)

Congratulations!!! Matt's is tomorrow morning. And I agree with you.... To the newbies, stay as positive as possible. The interview date in inevitable... My favorite quote to myself has been "this too shall pass" Goof luck with your future ventures together.

  6. Hi everyone! I am a newbie to this process. My fiancee and I received our NOA1 on 5/18/11. Then on June 8, I received an email that said we had been moved into "card/document" production status. It also said that the I-129F had been processed and mailed to the address on record. It says to call USCIS if we have not received them in 30 days. To date we have not received the documents in the mail and our status on the website still shows this email message but our status does not show up on the status icons bar. I have contacted USCIS about this and I seem to get a different answer each time I call. Basically no one I have talked to at USCIS has much information for us. My fiancee and I are a little worried that something has gone wrong but we are unsure what to do. Does anyone have any insight for us?

    Mark

Cross check you NOA! receipt number with the number you have for you case file in the USCIS status up-date page. I was being given information that didn't make sense to me and the realized that I was off by one number when I was logging in. Just a thought.

  7. My fiance is from England! We filed for our k1 back in October, 2010. Needless to say, this process is taking FOREVER for us. We've been very unlucky. But that aside, he had his medical today and it went really well! It did get me to thinking about other people in England having their medical and then going off to the interview. We've not heard back from the Embassy yet.

What was the date of your medical?

What was the date of your interview?

I've heard most people are told whether or not they will be approved or denied at the interview and usually 2 weeks later have their visa in hand. I hope this is true for us!

Matt had his medical June 3. I called DOS on June 17 and was told his interview date would be July 19. We received packet 4 confirming this on June 23. (I was glad I had called, it was nice to know). Hope that is helpful.

  8. After being so nervous for my interview on Wednesday it went a lot easier than I thought. My appointment was at 9 but I got there at 8 and after a short wait for security I had my number and was seated by 8.15. I was waiting till about 10.20 before I was called up for the first time to submit my documents. I then went up to the window handed in my documents, photos and fingerprints. I was given a pink form to fill my postage details out on for delivery and went to sit back down. I had to ask someone for a pen and filled this out. Started reading my book again while settling in for what I thought would be another long wait, while thinking I should of brought a second book. 5-10 mins later I was called up again and was thinking they needed more documents off me and it was actually for my interview. I had to re do my fingerprints, was given back my original birth certificate and police record back. Then I was asked to raise my right hand and swear I was telling the truth. I was then asked to write my fiances name and sign a form, at this point I believe my hand was shaking and I was asked how we met. After answering this one question I was asked if we were getting married and I said yes on the 10th of September and I was then told I was approved. I think I said thank you about 5 times and then went to pay for delivery.

I was told I would get my passport back and the envelope to open at poe and I was done.

So glad that it is done and so happy that I will be with my fiance soon.

I was just wondering do they give me a form when I go through immigration? or do they just take the stuff off me and send me on my way?

Thanks so much and thanks for all the support and questions I have had answered on here. I am sure I will have tons more for AOS.

CONGRATULATIONS!! Ours is on Tuesday morning. I bet the relief is an amazing feeling. Good luck with your future plans.

  9. My fiance went to his interview today in London and we were convinced he would be denied. We've been preparing for it for 2 months since we learned he had a crime of moral turpitude on his record from 17 years ago. We've almost finished preparing the 601 waiver and I was making plans to visit him in August. So he calls me this morning and says "I'm sorry darling, you won't be spending this winter in Wales. I'l be with you in America!" We were both crying by that time and I still can't believe its true!

Apparently the crime was moral turpitude, but of a minor nature and they allow you one conviction. We knew about this exception, but thought the other three offences (all minor traffic violations) that all happened at the same time 17 years ago would negate the forgiveness clause. Apparently not! The CO said "you're approved" and Graeme was in shock. She had to keep telling him he could come to the US without a problem. The whole thing is so surreal and still hasn't completely sunk in yet.

For all of you who are still waiting, don't give up and good luck!!!

Congratulations!!! What a relief for you! Our interview is on the 19th.... Good luck to you both.

  10. 243 days after starting this process, our K-1 was approved. Colin will be coming home August 5th. It's been a long journey and I'm very thankful for all the help I received on this forum. It made the process much smoother than it could have been. Now on to the AOS!!!

Congratulations!!! We hope to be sharing the same excitement on the 19th of July. We wish you safe travels and a life time of happiness!

  11. Waiting on my interview date.

A couple of questions, since this thread is active..

What is the average packet 3 processing time for London (Rough estimate)? I read somewhere it's around 3 weeks.

Can you only find out about what they've "logged" by phoning that expensive number?

We are on about the same time line as you. London Received packet 3 May 18, it was processed and complete May 26, medical was done June 3 and results sent to the embassy June 8. My fiance called this morning and was told that the longest point would be a letter telling us our interview date would come by the end of June (worst case) and to expect the interview with in 3 weeks of that. SO the longest timeline would be an interview by July 22. Hope that helps you!

  12. London will send you an appointment letter. It tells you toward the bottom of this page http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

    What Happens Next?

On receipt of the Forms DS-230-I, DS-156, DS-157 and form DS-2001, the Immigrant Visa Unit will complete all necesary administrative processing of your visa application. You will be required to provide additional information if you have incomplete or missing forms and will be contacted in writing if that is the case.

Approximately one month before your scheduled interview appointment with a consular officer,
you will receive an appointment letter containing the date and time of your visa interview.
On the day of the visa interview, you will be required to bring all of your original documents, or certified copies, plus one photocopy to the visa interview. Click on "The Interview" and "Visa Fees"on the left-hand Navigation bar for further information.

Try the UK Forum. Lots of good interview talk over there, Join in. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/99-united-kingdom/

Thank you so much!!!! This is very helpful. :-)

  13. Hi All. I have a question, it seems that each country is different. We are filing for the London Embassy and we have done packet 3 sent and arrived at the Embassy May 18, had medical on the 3rd of June embassy received the results June 8. Are we suppose to contact the embassy to schedule an interview. I have thought that they send us a letter with the interview date, however some of the blogs I am reading sound like perhaps we need to contact the embassy. Any advise would be helpful. Thank you!!!
