  • Our Story
We met on Facebook near the end of 2009. After a few weeks of chatting and webcams, we were too in love to even question how or why we thought this could ever work, we just knew it would. I flew there four months after we first met and cried my whole way home a week later. i didnt want to leave him. It hurt like hell. We tried to bring him to the states to meet my family before marrying, but he was refused a visitor visa because he could not prove he would return to his country when his visit was over. So we said, Why wait then? and in September, 2010 I flew back and we married there and enjoyed two weeks together for a honeymoon. I came home to start the process of gathering our documents and trying to file our I130. Unfortunately, we decided to enjoy our honeymoon and worry about the paperwork gathering later. we figured express mail had been working wonderfully so far for us in getting things back and forth to each other. But mother nature had other plans. I was home 2 weeks and well into get information together mode, when Indonesia was struck with about 10 major earthquakes in one day, yes of course on his island, a tsunami off the coast and an erupting volcano.. I thank god every day for the safety of him and his family... but the conditions there made even express mail slower than I could bear. Finally, at the end of January, our I130 was received by USCIS. We are trying to be patient, but it gets harder each day to be so far in with no word yet. the one bright spot, my birthday present to myself, i briought my 8 year old daughter to meet her step-father and spent my birthday with my husband. what a wonderful week it was with the 2 most important people in my life finally meeting in person and better yet, bonding so quickly sometimes i think they forgot i was there. it was wonderful to see and enjoy. Now, if i can just bring him home.

  1. UPDATE: Thankfully a waste of time and energy worrying about an RFE from NVC all weekend, the missing documents the AVR was talking about was my husband's Visa App. Apparently, if they review your AOS and do not have the benficiary docs in hand at the same time, NVC issues a letter and AVR message saying your documents are incomplete or missing... they mean the IV app...Thank God, my AOS package was fine... now just waiting on the review of the Visa App.

And actually, there is a Wiki guide for bringing your spouse here that states in a Note do not panic..this message would come if your AOS package is reviewed and you have not paid your IV App fee and sent in the DS230... but I had already paid the fee and the docs were received at NVC the day before the review.. so I wasnt sure that the "do not panic" note in the guide applied to me.. THANK GOD it Did!.
