  2. Hi All!

I forgot to renew my passport and have to travel for work in 3 weeks. (prob not enough time to get new passport.) I have a Conditional greencard and will be flying American Airlines and Delta to Canada and back.

I have a valid New York state ID and greencard. Can I travel to and from Canada?

I have read conflicting reports online. Some say YES you can get into Canada with a greencard, others say NO you must have a passport.

    Anyone ?

I called Passport Canada and they couldn't confirm. GOing to contact the Consulate.

    Any help is appreciated.

  3. She asked for all my documents, took the newest bank statement, con-ed statement. She asked for a wedding invitation and one picture. She didn't even look at the album I carefully compiled - lol. She just asked my husband for one picture of us. She asked me his full name and DOB. She asked him my full name, DOB and my parent's first names, and that was it for questions. She said, everything looks in order and that I was approved and would receive the card in the mail.

Can anyone shed light on why I didn't get a stamp? She was nice and said the words that we were approved for i-130, i-485 and I would receive my green card in the mail.

Should I be concerned? I'm pretty sure it's fine, but bothered why no stamp and kicking myself for not asking.

In case anyone else does not get stamped at interview and are worried - i thought I would follow up, 8 days after the interview, my card production was ordered! Hooray !

  4. Gah, I didn't want to post anymore in this thread! :P

I don't know the particulars of your case, and you don't know the particulars of the cases that got stamps. Maybe they were ROC interviews, maybe they were people who had impending travel. I can tell you that last year most offices had policies to NOT give out stamps. I think there was a policy to avoid giving stamps if at all possible to cut down on forgery nation-wide. This year, I have started seeing some people who have gotten stamps, but it's still NOT the norm from what I can tell (a few years ago it was the norm). We did not get a stamp, for instance.

Is there a reason that you are worried? Did the interview go badly? Do you have anything unusual about your case that would cause them to delay? And most importantly, what did she write in your passport?

Sorry - I am new at Visa Journey and didn't realize I should have started a new thread. Sorry to make you post in this outdated thread. The interview went well, she said that we were approved, nothing unusual about my case. She wrote i-485/i-130 pending, her name and IO #, my A#. i don't have my passport in front of me, but that is the gist of what she wrote.

    i should be fine right?

  5. This thread is a year old. A lot of people don't get the stamp at their interview, even if they are approved. It means nothing.

It seems the OP had a restraining order put out against him by his wife, which makes his case much more complicated and probably unlike any one else's here. Again, the OP posted this a year ago - no sense in digging up old threads, especially when the circumstances are totally different.

Sorry, as you can see i'm a newb. I should have started a new thread. You think that there is no issue then about a stamp? I'm just bothered because other people that were interviewed in the same office as me yesterday received stamps. She literally wrote in my passport, but said GC would come in the mail, so I should just relax and shut up probably! However, on this site, everyone makes such a big freaking deal about the stamp. She took my i-94, but I kept my EAD, she didn't even look at it.

Do you think she just didn't feel like getting the stamp or something?

Harpa - you answered one of my other questions and always seem to know what's up so I'd love your opinion.

    Thanks!

  6. During our AOS interview I requested the stamp, after we were verbally told that we had been approved. The officer stated no real need for the stamp, because you will be getting an approval letter within the mail in approximately (5) business days and, your GC should arrive in about two weeks. Considering you have your combo EAD/AP card, technically, there is no real rush to apply the stamp. If I had to guess, they probably do not want a lot of stamps to be issued all over the country. Regarding them telling you are approved at the interview, I would imagine that varies. They may have to gather more information in order to deliberate your case further. Yes, I know it is nerve racking, but take it step by step. What do you mean that you have a Stay Away Order from the court? Never heard of this relating to an immigration case.

That was not me that wrote "Stay Away Oder from the court". It was bonbon at the top. i have no idea what that means either.

  7. Mind sharing what questions were asked. And what supporting documents did you have to pull out?

    Thanks

She asked for all my documents, took the newest bank statement, con-ed statement. She asked for a wedding invitation and one picture. She didn't even look at the album I carefully compiled - lol. She just asked my husband for one picture of us. She asked me his full name and DOB. She asked him my full name, DOB and my parent's first names, and that was it for questions. 8. siasimba: Thank you very much!!

Just checked it out, and saw the following:

Guess they don't update that information often...

Field Office Processing Dates for New York City NY as of: April 30, 2011

    Form Form Name Processing Timeframe:

I-485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status October 19, 2010

    Any new updates from anyone?

I am a February filer and was approved at our interview today! Everything went very smooth - very basic questions. The interview itself was 10 minutes. Now let's see how long it takes to get the actual card. I read in another forum that they have stopped stamping passports at the interview because people have forged stamps. The officer literally handwrote a note in my passport - "i-130/i-485 Pending". I kind of panicked after I thought about it when we left, because she said we were approved but no stamp. Anyway, I hope that's the case.

    Sigh of relief.

    Good luck to all
