  1. You always need to make sure you have the latest forms, so get them from USCIS for the

G-325A, I-129F. For the consulate you get them from the DOS site.

    Type: uscis.gov forms

    in your browser, good luck!

P.S. That is a space between uscis.gov and forms, thats the way they set it up.

thanks a lots guys...thank god i found this forum....god knows wat i wud have done without u guys..... (F)(F)(F)

At "downloads" you find everything you need here at visajourney: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1forms

i know, but i was still unsure if those are not the updated ones....

  2. An RFE will typically only delay the process 1-3 weeks in most cases. It's usually not the end of the world. If you send your petition full of the info they look for in the first place and check to make sure everything is accurate, you probably won't receive an RFE at all.

Of course it's up to you whether or not you use a lawyer, but the fee I mentioned for AOS is the actual government fee required to submit those forms. Additional fees charged by a lawyer will probably greatly exceed that amount. Just a heads up - good luck to you both :)

Thanks a lot m+p....we are both looking forward to a smooth journey....hope these Shutdown of USCIS are just hoax....keeping our fingers crossed

  3. I wouldn't waste your money on a lawyer. Take a look around the guides and the forums here. See if you think you are able to file yourself. It really is pretty simple.

i too think we can file it ourselves......its nothing more than 4-5 demographic forms, and an essay type doc on how we met and intention of marriage etc.there are so much help available in net, i dnt think it'll be a huge mountain to cross.Yes the wait ahead is going to be very very tormenting....but then most ppl who file go thru it.

  4. A lawyer doesn't necessarily have any more input on an RFE than you do. If your case warrants an RFE later down the road, USCIS will send you a letter requesting whatever additional evidence they feel is needed. You will be the one providing that information - since it's your information, right?

Does your fiancee feel your case is particularly complicated? $1600 is a big chunk of cash. Does he know the fees associated with adjusting status once you arrive are $1000+?

My finace is only afraid if we make an minor error too, it'll gt the RFE which will only delay the process.Since the lawyer is dealing with family base immigration for quite a long lime, he felt the chances of RFE mite be less.

I also feel $1600 is huge sum to pay, where as the processing fees are only $450+ ...We are planning to file it ourselves...only i need to convince him little bit more. :):)

No he ddnt say about AOS fees, my finace didnt ask him as well i guess.

  5. Anyone having any idea aboout the lawyer fees involed in filling K1.

Ours is a relatively uncomplicated case (i.e., no previous marriages, children etc). Only complication is that the beneficiary lives other than the home country on work permit(Home Country - India, Employment Pass - Singapore).Apart from that everything is pretty simple. Also the beneficiary is planning to return to India in June/July.The USC is from Sacramento,CA, holding OCI.

  6. Also - it will likley be 6 -7 months at best. Processing times can slow down considerably... luckily CSC is moving quickly right now, but that could change. So do be prepared for a bit of a wait, and don't be surprised if it takes longer than that... (not to be the bearer of bad news) :)

And also - if you use the resources here on VJ, no need for a lawyer! Save your $$!

YAY CSC......6-7 months still seem like eternity....i hv asked my USC finace to file it ourselves and save the 1600$ he's charging for it(i think its way way way too much), he's hell bent on a lawyer as in case of RFE no other lawyer will take up our case and it'll end up in further delay.

  7. No idea about the NOA1s for K1 petitions, but just wanted to point out that you don't file from the California Service Center. The USC will send the I-129F packet to a USCIS sorting facility in Texas where it will be forwarded to the appropriate service center.

    Here's the mailing address:

    For U.S. Postal Service:

    USCIS

    P.O. Box 660151

    Dallas, TX 75266

For Express mail and courier deliveries:

    USCIS

    Attn: I-129F

2501 South State Highway 121 Business

    Suite 400

    Lewisville, TX 75067

R u absolutely sure about it, because i have seen people directly filing from CSC, since the USC is from Sacramento,CA.the lawyer also adviced to file from CSC only.Filing from TSC will only delay the process.

  8. I hope the engagement was not an April's Fool joke! :-D

But really, why would you want to know the date of NOA1? Is it relevant? This process has a lot if uncertainties. Depending on how you deliver your petition packet it will be received sooner or later. Usually it takes from 1 to 2 weeks to receive the notice in the mail and usually the receipt date is about one week in the future from submitting your packet.

No not at alll......we are deeply in love...we are corresponding from oct last year, on the 3rd meeting we got engaged....it was an arrranged match, but we fell in love online...over chat and mails........

i know it'd take 6-7 months for us to finally get married....the wait is going to be tormenting ..i wanted to know the NOA1 date because from NOA1 to NOA2 it takes around 5 months time...our journey will begin on 15th April....:)

  9. We got engaged on 1st April 2011, planning to file the K1 from California service center, the USC(the man) is from Sacramento, California, while the girl is from Kolkata, India presently residing in Singapore. If the K1 gets filed on 15th April,2011 what is the expected date for us to get the NOA1 from California service center?

Does the NOA1 process gets done thru AAO only?
