  1. Just my own experience....

I had been married once before I met my wonderful Guatemalan man. My "married" name is on my passport which, of course, does not match my birth certificate. I was not allowed to get married in Guatemala until I changed the name on my passport. So, between time and money we decided to go K1.

NOA1 was April 1st and the interview will be October 13th.

    Good luck with your Journey!

  2. I would recommend that he send a correct version because if they ask it to be corrected at the interview you will feel very sad and rushed. Do you have time or can he use regular mail?

I just got the documents that my fiance sent to me for my interview on the 15th. Looking at the I-134 Affidavit of Support that he filled out makes me concerned. In Question #10, he answered NONE. Isn't my name supposed to be in there? I guess he was confused and related it to Question #9. He did put my name and other information in Question #3. It cost him $108 to send these documents via FedEx. Should I be very concerned? Does he need to send a new I-134? Please advise. Thank you very much!

  3. Good Day VJers! I am curious...

My fiance received his appointment letter for the interview at the Embassy - the letter is also used for the medical appointment.

Under the heading Traveling Applicants it has my fiance's name AND his son's name. On the application we only listed his son as "may follow" -- he will not be traveling with us at the intial POE.

Do you think we need to "fix" the appointment letter before the interview? Or, is the son's name on the letter simply because of the "may follow" noted on the application?

    Thank you!!

  4. Hello! 5 months seems to be the average for sure --

Shop on-line for for good calling cards. Nobel.com has one that is reasonable for my guy's country.

We call each other ALOT during the day -- stay in touch about the little things.....

lunch menu, unusual animal you saw on the way to work, how much petro you purchased -- the more you do that the more it will almost feel like you are there!

Come up with a mini-projects -- example: both of you decide that you are going to do something unexpected for a mean person within the next 48 hours -- OR, watch the same "educational" video or internet stream and then ask each other 3 questions related to the topic.

These are the things that have helped us really maintain close close relationship. Plus, I know more about Soccer, Warner Bros. cartoons, and hurricanes than ever! LOL My guy has learned about hurricanes, Lady Gaga (Iloveher!),and US Motorcycle requirements.

Our last 50 days before the interview we have named, "50 days of fabulous" -- we try to do something that makes our normal, boring, "can't wait until I can kiss you" days into FABULOUS - example: I ate sushi 3 days in a row! Fabulous! -- We ordered flowers for a sick friend! Fabulous!

The moral of my typing this.... Dont' stop being who the two of you really are while you are waiting. Try your best to talk and focus on things other than the VISA! My fiance says this....

"Everyone is exhausted and tired at the end of a race or goal, that is why we call it finish."

lovely, eh? OR, maybe even FABULOUS! LOL

  5. So much waiting -- it is very difficult. We, the VJ community can share in the feelings, we know how you feel.

My experience so far with timelines on VJ has been very accurate.

Stay busy, stay positive. I spend a lot of time looking for the "new and best" deals on international calling cards. Nobel.com is really good....

It's my new hobby - VJ updates and international calling cards. As soon as my sweet man arrives I'll probably never even look at my computer...HA!

Best of luck with the journey! Carla

  6. Greetings from Tucson, Arizona. Our NOA2 was approved on June 27th - did not arrive at NVC until July 27th. Now, the NVC tells me that my case is undergoing "additional processing" with no set goal or time line.

Anyone have any insight? This idea of my packet just setting on a table in Vermont is painful. Waiting...this is such the exercise in patience and control of the mind....yuck.

Thank you - I hope your journey is quick!
