  1. His sister is 16 years old. She would just be coming over the summer to US to visit us and then go back. Is this possible due to her age? Please advise. Thank you.

She needs to go to the visa section in nigeria.usembassy.gov and fill out the Ds-160 form online. she shd remember to save the password and security question she chose. then after that make a $140 visa payment a Guarantee Trust Bank ( I think they need to see the applicant's passoprt or copy of it) use the receipt number and register (create user name and passowrd with email) to book appointment on the VFS. (company on the embassy website who cordinates the appointment bookings). the wait times are long though. my sister booked abt 2 weeks ago and was only able to get a date in March ending !!! so have this in mind when u r fiiling out the Ds-160 cos they will ask for your intended time of travel.

As others have said , very difficult to get a tourist visa and THEY HARDLY LOOK at documents regardless of what you are presenting.

    Good luck

  2. My husband came in through LAX Port of Entry on 11/21/11 and he was given a letter entitled Notice of Conditional Permanent Resident Status. The letter indicates "You and your spouse must file an I-751,a joint petition to have the conditional basis of your status removed. The petition must be filed within a 90 days period immediately preceding the second anniversary of the date you were granted Conditional Permanent Resident status.

This statement (he petition must be filed within a 90 days period immediately preceding the second anniversary of the date you were granted Conditional Permanent Resident status.) Get me confuse ,Did they mean after 2 years or after 90days of staying in America or after 90days of entering into America. What did they mean by second anniversary of the date you were granted conditional permanent resident status .Please Kindly let me know what date did we need to file the I-751 Form.Since I got in on the 21NOV2011 AND my visa was issued on the 10NOV2011 and expired 09NOV2012.

Please Kindly get back to me as soon as possible and I will be glad to hear from you .

    Thanks and God bless you

  3. My husband just went through interview on Nov. 9th in Lagos, Nigeria and I used www.pennytalk.com to call him and I could only go back about a year, and did not include all months. I did not know anything about the process, and at the time was not keeping our phone records. If I were you, I would submit all the phone call records you have. Also, all of your e-mails, back and forth. You're presenting your story through thu hae evidence. Organization, was also important. The easier you make their job to go over the documents, the better it is. Some of my phone records also had calls to Argentina, but I just left it on there. I did not highlight anything. They could see what his number was +011234 etc. Also, put your photos in a nice photo album. Again, you're telling your love story and the better the presentation, I think that helps too. A little off track with regards to your question, but hopefully this helps you. He was approved. If you want to see how his experience was, go to consulate review. Best of luck to you.

  4. Thank you for your response. :star: Appreciate it.

you will be fine no worries just makes sure he know vital info about your son!!!! Good luck

Thank you for responding. I guess I did not answer correctly, however, they did not say anything? Thank you for your reassurance. :star:

Only the family members of the alien relative are to be listed in C.17. YOU are the US Citizen, so it should have been YOUR name listed as your alien relative's spouse in C17. It's a common error. Don't worry about it.

  5. Thank you - I did list my son on the Affidavit of Support - so everything should be okay. Again, congratulations to you and your husband!

OKAY... I did not list my children on any of the forms EXCEPT .... AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT this is where they want to see what income you have and who you take care of. At my husbands interview they asked questions about how he contacts my sons and when he actually talks to them. Now if he has kids they should have been listed...Other than that.. get calm and no worries

  6. Thank you for your advise. I pray everything goes well for us. It's been a long journey and 11/23 will be our 1 yr. anniversary. If there was a problem, wouldn't they have addressed it back in the beginning? They approved the paperwork and I complied with the RFE (2 of them) and everything went smoothly. I pray everything will be okay.

Let him be prepared about everything.. They might ask me questions about your son..He should be ready to answer them truthfully...

  7. Okay, I think I'm really panicking. My husband's interview is in Lagos, Nigeria on Nov. 9th. We are reviewing all of our documents and preparing for the interview. I reviewed the I-130 application, and on C.17 I listed my husband, however, I did not list my son (from a previous relationship). In other words, this is both of our first marriage, and I am the only one with a child from a previous relationship. Did I answer this question incorrectly? I am panicking right now. Please let me know if there will be a problem. As far as I am concerned, my son's information was not requested in the Petition? and my husbnad does not have any children. Help. Please advise.

  8. The current year tax returns is the most important one. There is a high probably he will not get a visa without it unless you are qualifying by assets not income. If I were you I would file NOW as married filing separately and send the data to him then ammend the return once he arrives.

Thank you so much. I will heed your advise. It makes sense and I don't want to delay anything. Thank you sooooo much!! :)

  9. My husband's interview is coming up on 11/9/11. My question is regarding the Affidavit of Support. I provided 2008 and 2009 tax returns. I have not filed my 2010 tax returns as I am doing them jointly with my husband and he requires an ITIN number since he does not have a social security number yet and he resides in Lagos, Nigeria. The problem is that since his interview is on 11/9/11, I decided instead to wait until he arrives to USA, have him get his social security number and then file the tax returns, albeit, late and pay the penalty + what I owe. Will this present a problem on the day of his interview? I believe that getting him an ITIN number which was going to take 6 weeks to process anyway, would make little sense since he would be here in November, God willing. I did not want to confuse the IRS and preferred just to pay the penalty since I will be owing money anyways and there was no guarantee that his ITIN # would have been processed in 6 weeks anyways. Please advise. Concerned that this may present a problem. Thank you. :( Appreciate any recommendations.

  10. It looks like you are right, since your husband lived in one place since birth. Yes, one PCC you sent should be fine based on revised DS-230. Don't worry about the checklist for AOS, it is called a false RFE situation - meaning it gets closed once AOS starts getting processed. Yes, call the operator on Monday to make sure.

Thank you for your Reply. I feel a little better knowing I'm on the right path  .

  11. Hi Visa Journey community. I received an e-mail from NVC and apparently my husband and I made a mistake :bonk: on Question #30 of the DS-230. They said "A gap exists in your residence history of more than six months." So, we can fix that. Since he was born, he has always lived in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. Somehow, we did not go back far enough to account since the age of 16. My question is that they also request that the police certificates "are required for each visa applicant age 16 years or older, based on where each applicant lives or has lived previously." I'm assuming that this was brought up due to our careless error? The police certificate (I submitted the original) should be fine as it was executed by the Nigeria Police in Lagos. I have completed another DS-230 (revised) correcting Question #30 and I'm e-mailing it back to him so he could sign and mail it back to me. Am I on the right track here? Also, in the same RFE letter they indicated that they did not receive the checklist letter for the AOS which I previously mailed along with the DS-230 in two very neat packets with the respective cover letters, the barcodes, and acco clip fasterners, etc. I'm quite frustrated  that they could have possibly lost these documents. Unfortunately, I have to wait till Monday to speak to a supervisor  HELP if you can comment and/or make any suggestions. I thought we were going to get his interview date. Appreciate your input.

  12. thx for ur respond, pls hw do l get all this set, police cert, embassy forms, Lagos case number from NVC? wht do l do? should l wait for US Embassy Lagos to invite me and tell me wht to do? pls assist.

First, it would be helpful if you would complete your timeline as you have not indicated what type of visa you are pursuing. Next, I would recommend that you read http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut the Ling Che NVC shortcuts to familiarize yourself with the process. By completing your timeline, you can help others who may be going through the same process as yourself.

I would study the LingChe shortcuts.

    Best of luck

  13. I have a question re AOS. I submitted my documentation with tax returns for 2008 and 2009 (Federal/State) on 7-9-11. I did not submit transcripts of my tax returns as I made complete copies. Is this going to be a problem. Currently filed an extension for 2010 as I'm filing for an ITIN number for my husband so that we could file joint tax returns. I called today and they are requesting more information and on 7-22-11 they sent out a letter to me. Have not received the letter as of yet. Do I need to request transcript of my tax returns even if I provide complete copies of my tax returns? Your response is appreciated. Thank you VJs.
