  1. i know you asked for Brooklyn, but take a look at this thread

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/290548-civil-surgeon-affordable-nynj-area/page__p__4451967__fromsearch__1#entry4451967

i went with someone by the name of Kalafatic, i believe he is in the Bronx and prices were about 200 total. had to make two trips but everything was fast once i got there

  2. still waiting, as of january 3. at this point i am not too thrilled about my prospects, but im still waiting since i was told it can take up to 90 days for a decision. i dont know whether i should go to the newark office and ask about my application or if i should wait until after 90 days and then make an appointment to go and ask about my application.

but this is causing me tons of stress. i updated my timeline, not much to see there but its been updated anyway.

but again, im just waiting at this point. not much else i can do!!

  3. this process has been long and stressful but i am still hopeful that something good will happen. but i must say for much of the past....17 months or so....has been pretty stressful and frustrating.

a quick back story: i am married and my wife is a us citizen. i have an A-2 visa (out of status) which derived from my father who worked for my country's embassy in NY. about a year ago my wife on my behalf, and i, filed I-130/I-485 to adjust status. the process was long, with USCIS asking for more documents throughout the year. finally we get scheduled for an interview, which was rescheduled because my wife was away on business, and our interview was last week.

so our interview was in newark, nj. we get there early, around 9:45am and waited until 2pm. nobody said anything to us, we just waited and waited.

so finally my wife says she has to go to work and a woman says she will see us soon. about 2:30 she decides to call us in for our interview. she realizes that my wife has to go, so she takes some documents from us (pictures, insurance cards, bills, etc) and then asks my wife some questions for about 2 minutes then tells my wife she can go, but i should stay behind for further questions.

so my wife leaves and i stay to be questioned by this woman.

she grills me for about 20 minutes.

she then makes me fill out I-566 and I-508 while im still there but there are some information that i dont know. so she tells me its ok she will call me tomorrow and get that information from me. so i leave my number, but the next days he doesnt call me.

two days later im frustrated about not being called so i take a trip to the newark office with a properly filled out i-566 and i let the woman at the window know that its for the woman who interviewed me two days ago, her name is on the envelope. she tells me to wait and she goes to get the woman who interviewed me.....who then comes to see me and apologises for not calling me. she says thanks for bringing the form.

so what will happen now? how soon can i get or expect a response?

i feel like nobody is really paying attention to my application and the only time somebody does something is if i complain or request that somebody look into the matter. its been almost two years now and the wait is taking its toll on me.

the only thing keeping hope alive is that they have not denied the application, so im just waiting for an approval letter with green card

  4. who can i contact to move this thread to the appropriate forum?

and can you link me to the appropriate forum? i am a bit lost with all the different forums i thought this was a general AOS forum

anyway, today i check my mail and i have received my biometrics appointment. it is scheduled for May 17 at 8am.

so i am excited right now, i think this is a good sign.

  5. sorry. i should have added, i DID receive notice of acceptance. it came in about 3 days, they received my appliation on about tuesday and i received the notice this past friday. my wife checked her account on saturday (yesterday) and they said both checks had been cashed (985 and 85. i think it had been cashed on friday but i am unsure exactly when.)

ok. thank you for the information, i greatly appreciate it.

  6. My wife who is a US Citizen, petitioning for me, sent two checks to uscis. one was the required $985 and the other was the amount for the biometrics fee ($85). both amounts have been debited from her checking account by uscis. does this mean i should expect a biometrics exam pretty soon, or do they usually cash the check regardless of whether i have been approved or not?

i am anticipating and the wait is making me too anxious.

this is a family based adjustment of status and my priority date is March 2010 (we did some paperwork a year ago in 2010)

anyone with any info to share please let me know

  7. i called the number on the form, and the woman i spoke to "seemed" to know what she was talking about so i'll pass on the information she stated. because im just going to file the form and if they dont need it they can just toss it out.

the officer i spoke to on the phone says that regardless of whether i am in status or out of status i should file the form(s) based on what is on my passport/I-94. so because my passport says "A-2" that's what i should go with for the purpose of the form. whether or not i am out of status should be irrelevant when filling out the form section where its asking for my status.

i can only assume that it would be worse not to fill out the I-566.

so im just going to fill it out, send it in, and they can determine whether they need it or not.

anyway, thanks to both of you for taking the time to respond.

  8. ok so the principal alien in I-566, to my understanding from some research, is the person whom my A-2 status is derived from. the problem is, that person no longer has A-2 status and they are no a US Citizen (not my wife, but my father). so now they are asking about the principal alien, who is no longer the status he used to be....im not sure what to do now.

but my wife is the one petitioning for me (i-130/i-485) and this adds to my confusion about how to fill out that part of the form (page 1, part 2 of I-566)

  9. im filling out form I-566 along with 485 and 508.

in form I-566 it is asking for information about "principal alien" and im not sure if i need to answer this.

my wife is a USCitizen and i have an a-2 visa, and im trying to adjust. we both live in new jersey. i have lived here since 1985 when i entered the U.S.

so who is principal alien? is that my information they seek or my wife' information they seek. if its my wife's information, she is not an alien but a citizen.....so i am very confused at this point.
