  1. Hey Everyone!

My wife and I just recently married, and are working on our AOS application. I just have a quick question regarding this application: Who can pay the $1070 application fee? What I mean by this is that the AOS application is technically being submitted by my wife, but I'm wondering if I can provide a check - which has only my name on it. My concern is that the check has my information on it, so will this be accepted, even though this is her application?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  2. Thanks for all the replies folks. What other papers were asked for after the interview? My fiance had all of her papers in order, including signatures and everything. Her interview was extremely quick - the CO didn't even ask her for photo proofs or anything - just simple and straightforward questions. She wasn't even asked any questions related to finances. I tried emailing the embassy, but apparently they have a challenging time responding to emails...especially when my question is less than 10 words and enlarged so its easy and QUICK to read.

I'm still pissed off. Is it even worth calling the embassy? That is if they even pick up...

  3. My fiance had an interview on November 17, and was told, "Congratulations, your visa has been approved. You will be getting a call within 2 weeks to collect your visa and passport from the American Express office in Lahore." The interviewer took her passport, and gave her a purple-colored token.

I just called DOS today and was told that our visa has not been issued yet, and that our application is under administrative review. What the hell is going on?? I'm so damn pissed right now...

  4. Hello All,

My fiance had a K1 visa interview at the Islamabad Embassy on November 17. I had made a topic a day after sharing with everyone that she was approved. She was told by the interviewer that she was approved, and should be expecting her passport and visa in 2 weeks. The interviewer took her passport and visa, and gave her a purple colored token, along with the address of the American Express office where she will be receiving her package.

I called the Department of State today just to check on the status of everything, and I was told that my fiance's visa has not been issued yet, and that our case is under administrative review...Why would I be told this if my fiance was told she was approved? The interviewer had told her she would be getting a call within 2 weeks to pick up her visa! So what kind of bull**** is this? What is going on? Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm completely frustrated with this new information, and I just don't know what the next steps are....

  5. Our K1 visa was approved! YAY! Just have to wait for the passport and visa! Here is our account below. I've reposted this story after confirming all information with my fiance:

I am retelling my fiancé’s experience at the Islamabad Embassy from November 17, 2011  :

Experience at embassy was quick and easy. My fiancé arrived at the embassy around 7 am, and took the embassy bus for 500 rupees to where she would be giving her interview. After getting off the bus, she went through scanning. She showed all of her documentation and interview letter, and was asked to wait until called.

After about 30 minutes, my fiancé was brought in to do her fingerprints. During the fingerprinting, she had a general conversation with a black female working there. After my fiancé completed her fingerprinting, she was asked to sit once more, and wait for further instruction.

After another 30 minutes, my fiancé was asked to approach window #6, where she gave the medical report to a Pakistani woman sitting on the other side of the window. She were very nice and asked her to sign the DS 156 form as well as write out my (the petitioner) name, and confirmed my fiancés phone number and gave her a token which she has to show to the American express for getting the visa and passport within a few days. Then she moved to the window #5 to pay the interview fee of $350 and waited for another half hour. Then my fiancé asked to go to the window #8 to be interviewed by a male CO. She asked to have the interview in Urdu. However, the interviewer wasn't very fluent in Urdu, and my fiancé actually chuckled when he began talking. My fiancé then asked him to continue the questions in English, and here were some of the questions asked.

    1. What is your fiancé’s job?

(Program Coordinator with a non-profit organization called buildOn)

    2. Can you explain his job further?

(He works with students, inspiring them to engage in community service :wow: )

    3. What the name of the college of your fiancé?

    (Brooklyn College)

    4. How you people communicate?

(Through Magic jack, gmail chat, phone calls, sometimes skype and text messaging... I have all the proofs of call history as well... ), but the CO didn’t ask for any proof.

    5. Have you ever been to the US?

(No, I've never been outside of Pakistan)

    6. When are you planning on getting married?

    (InshaALLAH December or January)

    7. Have you ever been arrested?

    ( No, NEVER!)

    8. Have you ever been inside a courthouse?

    (No)

    9. How long have you been living at your current address?

    (All my life)

    10. Is this an arranged marriage?

Yes, our grand parents have arranged this when we were children.

    11. Have you any relatives in US?

    (No)

    12. When did you last speak with your fiancé?

(Right before entering into the embassy)

Throughout the entire process, the male CO was typing away at his computer. Finally, the male CO said, "You will be getting a call within two weeks from the American Express office in Lahore to come pick up your passport with the visa inside it. Thank you very much and Good Luck... :) "

My fiancé went into the embassy around 7am. She exited the embassy by 10am. She spent roughly 3 hours in the embassy. Her experience was great, and we both feel relieved!

Thanks to ALLAH for all the Blessings... :D :D :D

  6. Where did you mail packet 3.5? That's what I've been trying to figure out on the forums. My fiance has received neither an email or mail from the embassy. Her mail keeps getting lost or the courier is just delivering it to the wrong place. My fiance has gathered all of the documents, including police certificate and birth certificate, all we need to know is where to mail all of this. She is living in Sahiwal.

A lot of people are telling me to check the packet 3.5 for the adress...but we don't have packet 3.5 at all. Its frustrating, but does anyone have an address they can give us at all? Can we just send the documents with a cover letter since we never received packet 3.5?

  7. Thank you for your response,

Do we send it TO the courier listed on the Islamabad website, or does she needs to travel to the courier location and send it there. What address did you send your packet to?

I hope someone else will come along to help answer your question but we always used the approved courier services on the embassy website to send documents to the embassy. The documents took 1 day to get there.

  8. Hello All!

My name is Umair, and my fiance lives in Pakistan. Our k1 application was approved by NVC over a month ago, but my fiance hasn't received packet 3.5 from the Islamabad Embassy. I called the embassy, and they stated that we can send our documents to the embassy since we have all of the necessary documents gathered (police certificate, DS forms, etc).

My question is simple: WHERE does my fiance have to mail her documents so that she can be scheduled an interview? I dont see an address listed anywhere on the internet regarding this. I'm looking at the courier services section on Islamabad Embassy website, http://islamabad.usembassy.gov/courier_services.html, however none of the places I called seemed to have an answer for me.

I'm reaching out to all of you. My fiance lives in Pakistan, and she needs to mail her packet 3.5 to the Embassy. What address should she be mailing to? Thank you in advance for all of your support!
