Hello everyone!!! I am so happy. I can't even express to tell you all. Amel got here on May 5. His flight was delayed around 4 hours. He didn't get out of immigration/customs until 11:45 p.m. Before his arrival I was so nervous. I have been feeling nervous for months. I thought it was because things were gonna to change, etc. I convinced myself that things would be different when he got here. Well, they were different since he got here. After everything I did, I just wasn't feeling him. We spent a day a half in Miami with his sister. Then, on Monday morning, we headed to West Palm Beach. I felt awful. I didn't want to take him with me. How could I be feeling this? How could I do this to him? Well, I took him to West Palm Beach anyway. We spent Monday together. I got up Tuesday morning to go to work. My heart felt so heavy, I felt a lump in my throat, what the heck was I doing? I got to work and broke down in my car, hysterical, sobbing, snot and all. I did not want to live the rest of my life with this man. I went home and sat him down, three days after he arrived... Amel, I don't want to be with you. Once I got the words out, I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders, the lump in my throat went away.
Well, now the funny part... how about this man has not one, but two girlfriends sexting him from Cuba, lmao!!! I feel so relieved that I was able to get out of this. I thank God for opening my eyes before anything further can happen. Of course, I am not gonna marry him, that has been decided. I am so happy I don't have to deal with that. God opened my eyes!!

You can make the appointment with the HAV number. You do not have to wait until the case arrives to the U.S. Interest Section in Havana to make an appointment.

Is this question in the area where they ask about military experience?

Felicidades, mima. Trate de llamarte. Llamame cuando puedes. Manana me voy pa' la Havana. Yay!!!

Hi, Erica and Pavel. Did you get the information you needed. I have the list of hospitals given to Amel at the USINT when he picked up his packet. What area of Havana does your fiancee live in. I will look it up and send it to you 'cause you need to make it. You don't want to cut it too close. Porque en cuba cuando no falta placa, falta papel, falta tinta, etc. lol

Hi Lisel and welcome to VJ. As Claudia said, always keep in mind that some of the process is a little different with Cuba. My bf is from Sagua La Grande in the province of Villa Clara, and he got a telegram, although it did not say anything about the interview, all it said was when and where he could pick up the forms to fill out. After he picked up the forms from the USINT, he forwarded them to me. When I reviewed them, it turns out that all the forms CAN be downloaded from the internet and filled out. I filled them out for Amel and will take them to him when I go for the interview. If you have any questions, please post them here and I will be happy to assist you. Good luck and may you get approved quickly because I know that the wait can be agonizing.

Sorry to answer your question with a question but I am a little confused. I have never heard of a K-1 Visa holder needing a "carta de invitacion." It was my understanding that those are only required for those wishing to "visit." I thought that once you got "la baja" from housing, education, transportation, housing, military, paid for the medical, etc., then you could get the "carta blanca" (exit permit) and then purchase your ticket to leave Cuba. Everything else on your list appears to be appropriate but that. Can you, or any other Cuba specific member, clarify this issue.
As far as the round trip ticket, I have heard that since in essence the K-1 is not an immigrant visa (although the USINT in Havana treats it like one), but rather a non-immigrant visa conditioned on your marriage, a round trip ticket is required for her return should the marriage not take place. This appears to most important when your fiance will go through the port of entry and gets inspected/questioned by customs.
Thanks.

I was at work talking to one of my bosses, and boom, my cell phone lights up, I got a text from USCIS. I was so nervous, I took me several attempts to log on to the USCIS website, but there it was APPROVED!! Then within a week, I received the hard copy via U.S. Mail.

Alejo, check with an attorney. You may be able to apply for adjustment of status under the Cuban Adjustment Act based of presence in the U.S. for a year and a day. So in other words you marry your fiance and apply for AOS under CAA then the problems you have to overcome because you didn't marry in the 90 days will not be present. Check with an attorney first, though.

My I129F was approved on 8/29, and received at NVC on 9/2, they sent it to Havana on 9/16, and they generated a letter to me on 9/19, which I received today, 9/23. BTW, everytime I called NVC, I got a different answer. Just as recent as yesterday, they told me that fiance petitions do not generate a letter, which wasn't true because I did receive it today. So, you should receive it in the next week or so.

How did your fiance(e) get the packet of forms, including those for the medical exam? Did (s)he go get them at the U.S. Interest Section in Havana? Were they mailed to him/her? Did (s)he need to make a separate appointment to get them? Since I will be in Havana the week of October 1st, I was thinking of picking them up with Amel, if need be. I am also wondering if the forms are acceptable if downloaded. You have any suggestions?
Thank you for you input.

Mine was received by NVC on 9/2 and they just sent it to Havana today, 9/16.

Also, I'd like to add, that I don't really like these political topics as this is "support" site, not a political site. However, found it necessary to ask these questions because of my lack of knowledge and the fact that I am seeing more and more of these posts on here. So, again, sorry if I offend anyone.

I admit that I don't know much about politics, but obviously you do, so I have a question. What is your opinion of what Bush, and the republicans, did to this country? Just asking, not trying to be difficult or sarcastic. Just an honest question!

Gracias por la explicacion. Eso me calma muchisimo. Pero pregunto, como pudistes llegar a que te explicaron eso con lujo de detalle?

Chigs, I got approved on 8/29, two days before you. I called last Friday and our petition was not in the system yet. When I called Tuesday morning, it was in the system and they gave me the case number. Since my fiance is in Cuba, we don't have to wait until the documents reach Havana to make the appointment, all we need is the NVC Havana number so I was able to make the appointment, but my petition is still at NVC undergoing additional processing. When I heard those words, I got scared, but a research here on VJ leads me to believe that additional processing is their way of saying that they are still working on the petition. The CSR at NVC said that all petitions go through additional processing (which is not the same as administrative processing). He suggested I call everyday to check if petition has gone to Havana.
With all that being said, I am almost certain that you should have your number today or tomorrow. Good luck!

My NOA1 was dated 4/4 and I just got approved on 8/29; 147 days, VSC.

Back in 1982, I was charged with a felony of fraud, no jail time, 3 years probation and restitution. For almost 5 months I was holding my breath worried about the consequences this would have on my approval, but thanks to God, I was approved on August 29th. I think it really depends what the arrests were for, the outcome and how long ago they were and your history since those arrests. Also, if you were a minor or not.
With regard to being interviewed, I have seen a very small percentage being interviewed but usually after the approval of the I129F.
Good luck.

I was 152 on Igor's List and 48 on the Berkley list. http://cse.ssl.berkeley.edu/igor/vjdata/vsc.aspx

In an abundance of caution, I would either email them the request for extension of the approval, I would even go as far as sending them the request via certified mail too. Just a CYA!!

That is a good idea. By the way, when I was looking for an alternative to a calling card that would like me a decent per minute charge as the calling card, I found www.megaconecta.com. The charge to Haiti is 19 cents per minute to a landline and 23 cents per minute to a cell, and the good thing is that they don't have a connection charge and you can buy them on line. It also gives you a log of your calls showing the number you call, and the duration of the call. At the end of the month, I put the date range in and I print out all the calls for that month. Good luck!

Congratulations and thank you for serving our wonderful country!!!

Ann, Beau, it is my understanding that you don't pay for the medical exam to Cuba until you are approved and have a visa. The $100.00 is an "incentive" to the employees to move you along. As you know, everyone in Cuba is trying to make an extra buck on the side.
-
Congratulations!!! As I said they seem to be approving within a week before the 5 month mark. Now, after you come down off Cloud 9, update your time line, my friend. Again, congrats!!
Actually, you were closer to the 4 month mark, lol
I opened my eyes!!!

OnMyWayID: I know this COULD have been the case of someone uprooting, but it wasn't. And even if it was, how is it my fault that he turned out to be a dog? Am I to stay with him no matter what the circumstances just because he may have uprooted? He should have thought this thru before uprooting too, don't you think? He should have behave like a gentleman and honorable not like a hound dog.
