  1. Thankyou so much. Yes, his interview is at 7am and I told him to get there by 5am, He has the letter indeed! Thankyou for all you have done and your prayers! I can't believe this is FINALLY happening...can you pinch me? God bless and I will keep everyone posted!

First of all I am so happy your day is finally is coming. I am praying for you and your fiance. God be with you on Friday. Also, your fiance will need to take the letter with him that morning which indicated the time of his appointment. It should be as early as 7am and he should arrive early for there is usually a long line and since Friday is a half day, let him be there as early as possible.

I will be praying for a positive out come for you. Please keep us updated. Good luck!

  2. I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with this rather quickly. My fiance' is going for his interview this Friday the 23rd in Nigeria. We are applying for the K1 Fiance' visa and he is asking me if he will queue up with the non-imigrant applicants or will he queue up with the immigrant applicants? I guess we are both confused because I don't know the answer to that question either! Any help would be appredciated. Thankyou!

  3. I am a bit distraught and I am hoping someone could answer this question for me. I know with a K1 Fiance' Visa that once my fiance' arrrives to the United States, we have three months to get married. My question now is, how long from the date of his visa issuance does he have to travel to the United States? What I mean is, what is the time limit to arrive here? Three months, six months? Any responses will be greatly appreciated, as we only have one more month, to the day, until his interview! God bless!

  4. My fiancé was scheduled for his interview today, May 20, 2011, at 7:00AM, at the American Embassy In Lagos, Nigeria. He arrived at around 7:00AM. Since he did not take his cell phone, he sent me a text at about 10:00Am (their time), when he returned home. He told me that he and about 15 other applicants were asked to reschedule and they said they worked only a half day today. When I sent him a text back, I asked him what date they were going to reschedule him for. He said that he was told to write the consulate and they would give him another date. He also stated that out of the many people that made it inside, only two visas were issued. I am distraught, angry, confused and I don’t know if what he is telling me is the truth or what is exactly going on. Did anyone else come across this issue, today, OR in the past? Am I being lied too? Could this have really happened? I will write the consulate this weekend to inquire about it, but in the meantime, I have told him to man up and go back to the Embassy on Monday and demanded a date or demand an interview right then. His personality is more of a follower than a leader, so I know he cowers easily, but if it was me, I would have put up a fight. Someone told me there were certain “inquiry days” where he can go in and ask questions, but they didn’t know anything else and suggested I post something here. Does anyone have any thoughts, ideas, answers or suggestions? I am open to anything so please don’t worry about hurting my feelings. I need the truth, advice or anything that comes my way regarding this issue and I will be grateful for any assistance I can get. God bless you all and I look forward to your replies! :help::angry::(

  5. If I were you, I would call DOS first thing in the morning, and see if they can confirm this? tell them about what he heard at the medical clinic, and you wanted to confirm if this is true. Specially, since you have not received an email from the embassy to confirm it one way or another. I have not heard any thing of this sort...so I would say keep the appointment for the interview as scheduled, unless you get an official notification from the embassy or DOS.

I will keep you both in my prayers. God be with you.

    Blessings

Thankyou so much. He is going to attempt to call the Embassy tomorrow. I have written the Embassy, but they never replied to my last message, so I won't hold my breath! But I too don't want to listen too what someone else says. They could have a motive for telling him that. So we will stick with trusting in God and that things will go smoothly!

  6. My fiancé has his visa interview at the Embassy in Lagos, in less than 3 days....52 hours to be exact!! He called me today to tell me he was told at the medical clinic that the Embassy is postponing some interviews and was told they would notify us. Since he knows I have been in contact with the Embassy, via email, he asked me to check and see if they emailed me or anything. No one has contacted us. Has anyone been told about this, given notice of or experienced this themselves? Or perhaps this is some rumor that is going around to scare them somehow? Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Also, we ask that you keep us in your prayers as we are feeling a bit overwhelmed, at this point. I thank God for visajourney!!:huh::dance:

  7. Hello,

The decision whether to accept a co-sponsor is very much consulate specific. My advice would be to click on "Portals" at the top of the page in order to find posts and members with Nigerian beneficiaries, specifically. You could ask members who have gone through the process but are still active whether co-sponsors are permitted (accepted) at Lagos, Nigeria. It is also a matter of the sustainability of the income -can it be proved that the disability income is likely to continue? Unfortunately, as far as USCIS is concerned, love is irrelevant, but the issue is about having a guarantee that the immigrant will not impose a financial burden on the US government.

    Best wishes! (F)

    Thankyou!

  8. I have filed a petition for my fiancé on a K-1 Fiancé Visa and it was approved. My fiancé' has his interview on May 20, 2011. I have already sent him a whole notebook of information to take with him, including a bank statement, letter and 12 months of deposits, but after reading a comment left by someone just today, I have a few questions and if anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. My fiancé is in Nigeria. I am in the States. Currently I am not employed and have filed for disability due to an injury. My mom who is also disabled, but has no bills, rent, etc. to pay every month out of her disability check, she took the responsibility to be my fiancé’s co-sponsor. The twelve-month bank statement proves that makes enough to provide for all of us, so I thought that would work out great, but now I am hearing that for a K-1 Fiancé Visa, they will NOT accept a co-sponsor. Does anyone know that to be true? Also, if she makes enough, as long as she can provide, does it really matter where the “income” comes from, since it doesn’t come from an actual employer? I mean I am sure there are other disabled people in this world that need love just as much as anyone else, why can’t I have my fiancé just because I am disabled? I am really scared this is going to be difficult #1 for my fiancé to prove and #2 for Immigration to accept, since it is my mom and not me, when he is MY fiancé and not hers. Does anyone have any thoughts or facts on this issue? Please help, ASAP, so I will know how to prepare him. God bless you! :(:help:

  9. Well the police certificate can only be done at Alagbon police station in Ikoyi, here in Lagos......But if you probably far from Lagos, you can still apply thru the police station where ever you are, then they will tranfer it to Alagbon police station and after there check on your criminal records and you have not committed any crime...they will issue a police clearance certificate on your name and sent it back to which ever station it came from,Then your fiance can pick it up afterward... .but might probably take few weeks before he will get it but if it was done at Alagbon which is the approved station for it,he can probably get it in a day or two because all the criminal records in Nigeria is been transferred to the station after each case no matter which state you are in Nigeria............

Hope this clarify everything for you...........

Well i have my own question.............My fiancee is very worried becouse our case arrived Lagos in 14th March,2011 and we have not heard anything from the Consulate about our interview date....He is saying that am not following up because i just started working few weeks ago,but that is not true because i email the Consulate few days back and i just get the auto response which i forwarded to her but they have not replied my email....Pls how do i contact them to know my interview date and what next to do.....is been like 2 weeks our case arrive in Lagos.....Thanks

Ok, well my fiance was approved (NOA2) on February 12, 2011. I wrote immigration on March 1st and got a reply back the next day. They informed me immediatly of his interview date as well as sending me the package 3&4 information/forms. Be sure to include the alien number, his full name and that you are the petitioner. He can easily do as much as you in writing to the consulate. I just wrote another mail to them and again I received a message the next day. I'm not sure why you haven't received a reply yet. Try again and be sure to give then as much information as possible. You should get a reply in 24 hours. Hope this helps!

  10. Aba and Enugu are all part of Nigeria so he only needs that one from Lagos when they talk of other certificates they mean if the beneficiary for example has lived in Nigeria then later lived in Ghana then later lived in UK he would then have to get police certificates from those places if he has stayed in those places more than 6months. but since he has only live in Naija he just need that one certificate also you can get the police certificate the same day in like 30min.....Good Luck :) and welcome to VJ!!!

Thankyou for you response and your welcoming me. I am so frustrated. Please if you can, please reply to my coment below! Thanks again!

  11. Thank you everyone for your timely response. He is being extremely defiant right now, because he refuses to go to Lagos for the certificate. Instead, he says he was told that he must go to the capitol of Abia State and they would send it to Lagos. He says this is not America, they do things differently there and everyone is telling him this. So I decided to write Immigration myself so he could see that it is where they are saying to go. Immigration wrote back and said he was REQUIRED to go to Lagos for the certificate. He is being hard headed about the issue. He wrote me this today "This is police work and not immigration. All those people that passed through it are Nigerians and each of them got it through police and not immigration. They told me it's done through ones state of origin. Nigeria don't have a modified data base like the states where such information about one can be gotten through the computer from any part of the country with ones social security number. Lagos won't come to investigate me here, it's my state that will do that and send them the right info for the document." Does anyone know this to be true or are both Immigration and correct about him to Lagos. I have worked so hard on getting him this visa and now I am distraught over him messing this up for BOTH of us. Please can anyone give me your input on all this. I am about in tears, I am so angry and confused!:angry::help:

  12. My fiance will be going to get his police certificate next week, but we are still very confused about a few things. The website says he has to have a police certificate from each place he has lived since he was 18. Well he has lived in Enugu and Aba, so doe he go to each place or does he got to Lagos to get the certificate as we had already planned. If he must go to Lagos, does he have to pay for two diiferent certificates per city he has lived in? Also does anyone know what the current fee is and exactly how long it takes. I've heard if he stays around, he can get it in a few hours then I heard two weeks. I'm so confused. Can someone set me straight please?
