  1. We got approved today. Our AOS interview was at 10:30. However, we were called in at 10 AM. I am not sure if the interviewer's name was Officer Ross or Roth. He was from New York (older gentleman, very polite and businesslike). Before we sat, we raised our hands to swear to tell the truth. I would say the interview lasted an hour. The CO went through our file with a fine tooth comb. He crossed checked my boarding passes to verify dates of travel to the Bahamas. He asked my hubby if he knew my mother's name. I was asked about his mother and father's name. He asked how we met. We started laughing because a gas station is not the romantic place. He explained the removal of conditions and naturalization process.

I-551 stamps are no longer issued at the AOS interview. We were given a letter.

Congratulations! Your application to adjust status has been approved. You are currently being process for a Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card. This card should be mailed within (30) to ninety (90) days.........

In the event that my husband needs to leave the country before green card arrives, he has to take the approval letter, make an Infopass appointment, show proof of travel arrangements, and the stamp will be issued at that time. The security guard (female African American) said you have a beautiful passport picture. All they can say is yes or no. That made me feel better. Overall, the experience was great!

Okay..disregard my message..I found my answer lol CONGRATULATIONS!!!

  2. So we're APPROVED!!! 2 year GC is on it's way in 7-10 days.

Interview Recap (before I forget anything lol):

Our appointment was for 1:45pm in the Atlanta, GA office on Parklake Dr. Thank God we arrived an hour early because for some reason the line was wrapped around the building and took us about 30 mintues just to get to security. Security was exactly like airport security so be prepared to take off your shoes, belts, take out hair pins, empty your pockets etc...

We finally made it to an "check-in" area around 1:15pm at which point they instructed us to go to the second floor for our appt. After a quick potty break (is this TMI?? LOL) we were in the waiting room around 1:30pm. At 1:50pm we were called in your our interview.

The IO was very nice and friendly..even joking while walking back to his office. We were sworn in and he asked hubby the usual questions (have you ever been convicted of a crime, been arrested, sold drugs, plan to be a terrorist etc)..of course Vic said no to each one. The he asked us each our birth dates, where we were born and for some reason if we were born a woman/man and still remain a woman/man respectively HAHAHAHA I thought this was a weird question??

Then he proceeded to ask how we met, how did we maintain our long distance relationship, how many siblings each of us has, the names of our parents and if my Dad was upset about me moving to Atlanta to marry my husband....BUT there were (what felt like) LONG pauses in between each question. After that he asked for our supporting documents and we basically filled his desk with paperwork (bank stmts, life insurance, car insurance, lease, 2010 tax return)! LOL After that..one more long pause then he said he was going to approve us today and gave us the run down of what to expect next. He saw we had a small photo album so he asked to look through it and made some weird remarks again about how attractive I am and if my ex-boyfriends are jealous :o Yeah like I said..weird  but all I could think about was being APPROVED!!

It sounds like a lot but we were back in our car on the way home at 2:05pm I thank God for bringing us this far and for everything there is to come. And although I don't comment a lot, I really feel you guys (my March filer crew) has been so supportive of everyone, including us, on this journey! I'll update once we have GC in hand...

Good Luck to everyone else still in the process!

  4. So I went to the USCIS site not expecting to see anything but entered our receipt number anyway...well I couldn't believe my eyes when I didn't get the canned "we can't find your case in our system" message but it actually recognized our case(s) Well to top it ALL off it said we are scheduled for our interview on Tuesday, June 28th!!! I'm so anxious and excited...it feels so good knowing on the other side is so much opportunity. I'm confident our love for one another will shine through all the nervousness and jitters but we are still going to do everything in our power to make sure our supporting documents are impeccable. Headed off to update my timeline...

P.S. I love seeing all the updates...keep 'em coming!

  5. Am I being unreasonable in wanting to see updates on the USCIS site of my case after almost 2 months?? I called the 800 number listed and emailed some customer service group asking for the case to be added to the site but this was 2 weeks ago now. I don't want to be a pest but it would be REALLY nice to at least see some sort of acknowledgment when I enter my receipt info  Seeing everybody talk about how they received an email/text update makes me a little JEALOUS! LOL

Any assistance would be welcome

  6. I'm a black American also(ooohahhhhhwhoa!)LOL...and yes this attitude exist. So what can you do about it??? Just be yourself which is obviously the opposite of a lot of bad stereotypes held by not only some Filipino women but by most people in the world and even within the black community for that matter (the whole "White is Right" thing). By now you should know this well! At any rate when your fiance, soon to be wife, is going on and on about how great her hubby is people will take notice for sure and all the naysayers will be humming a different tune

If it matters at all I was once engaged to a Filipino man (obviously not my husband now LOL) and I went through the same thing about how black women are this and that. We eventually broke up for totally different reasons but once we broke it off his family and friends who had judged me before were the same people calling and begging me to get back with him because they knew he had it good.

Long story short..people have and will continue to judge you simply based on your race and nationality. Prove them wrong
