  1. If you are a USC and you are in the Philippines, as far as the US law is concern you can stay out of the US longer than a year or so that doesnt change your citizenship. But you must go out of the Philippines or at least exit to a nearby country so wont have to be fined for overstaying in the Phils. in as far as Phil law is concern.

  2. HelloVJ,

Me & my child (both uner IR-1 & IR-2 respectively) arrived in the US two weeks ago. My question is, what are the necessary steps that we have to take for him to acquire US citizenship? I understand that once he entered the US soil he will automatically becomes a USC. But do we have to file it to USCIS inorder for us to hold a document that he is indeed a full pledge USC?

    Thanks for your replies,

    Best regards,

    Wishfull

  3. To all those whose going to have their interviews soon, here's some helpful tips in order to avoid 221g. If you're Birth Certificate have erroneous entries on it before and though it was eventually corrected by NSO, you need to be careful with your NBI clearance. You need to have an NBI clearance with an AKA. Example: Wrong Name: John dela Cruise. Correct Name: Juan dela Cruz. Make sure in your NBI both names will appear in your NBI. Like this: Juan dela Cruz. AKA John dela Cruise.

    Avoid delays if possible.

  4. Hi! I had my interview last March 6, 2012 at 8:30am. I was under IR-1 and my son under IR-2. We arrived at US Embassy at around 7:30am. There were only 5 persons ahead of us in the line coz perhaps all the others were already inside the US Embassy. The guard let us fall in line in Immigrants/Fiancee lane. And I also requested if I can accompany my Aunt inside to help me attend to my kid. Then, the USEm personnel just asked me if my child was that difficult to handle? I said, not really but I have to pay attention to the numbers flashing on the board. Perhaps, he was convinced so he let my Aunt in. I even brought with me a bottle of milk for my lil guy. And we were done with our interview at around 10:30am.

I think no need to go there too early since just like us, your scheduled appointment is still at 8:30am. :) Hope that helps.

  5. Hi sis, Im also under CR1 and my child under CR2. We had our interview last March 6, 2012. Its okay sis, you can bring milk with you. They will let milk or feeding bottles be brought inside, or you may also bring toys for as long as its not electronic.

You may also request to bring a companion inside especially your child is also needing special care and attention. I also requested to let my aunt accompanied me inside the US Embassy. They will just ask a few questions like Is your child so malikot that you cant handle him? I honestly said, YES. So they let my aunt in.

    Goodluck on your interview!

  6. Maybe you will not be denied but your condition might cause some delays on your visa approval. I just came from my medical last Feb 21. I happened to talk to a parent of a USC whose lungs are not symmetrically aligned as seen on his X-Ray. Though its not contagious but it caused him so much delay that the doctors recommended for the parent to seek some medical help prior to going back to St. Lukes for a follow-up medical. In effect, he wasn't issued a medical clearance. But on the otherhand, its a case to case basis. I'd still wish you well on your medical. Good luck!

  7. Aside from the email as being suggested by togetherforever, you may also call NVC yourself. I was the one who persistently called NVC every single day for our case, because my husband is quite busy with work. I used Globe IDD call card. Just follow the voice prompts. And I suggest that you talk to NVC human/operator. They might already have your case number now since its already been 1 month since NVC received your case. Just be ready with your case number, name and birthday of petitioner. Goodluck!

  8. Where are you from? There's also a CFO office in Cebu City.

And besides, you dont need to bring your 6 year old child for the CFO seminar but you need to bring her passport and the necessary documents for her to have a sticker on her passport.

  9. whats the next step after paying the bill online and what civil docs needed?

try to read the LingChe NVC shortcut for the civil docs that is specifically needed for your case.

or betteryet, join the February 2012 NVC filers thread. A lot of good VJ members can answer your Qs. Here's the link:

  10. It's very possible to get an interview date scheduled a day or two after case complete. I've seen it happen on VJ every now and then. But, yes, usually it is 1-2 weeks on average for most consulates/embassies.

How I wish I'm one of those lucky few who get an interview date a day or two after case complete. After reading your post I immediately grabbed my phone and called NVC but still to no avail. :( I'll call back again next week. I hope they can give me my interview date by then. Thanks a bunch Saylin!

  11. Also ask when 'final review' is completed, as once the final review is completed, it's THEN eligible to be put into the scheduling queue.

I guess the final review was completed already since accdg to the 2 operators I spoke with, they were telling me that they're queing my case to US EMbassy Manila for an interview schedule. Then I'll just have to wait for the email notifying me of the interview date.

  12. I find it weird they requested documents from you yet then they complete your case. I hope they don't re-open your case either.

Yes, its really weird. I hope our case is truly a case complete! But I called twice and both operators confirmed that it was completed on Feb 1st. :) Im not sure if I'd be happy or not? I hope the next email that I will receive from them is our interview schedule information.

  13. Yay, grats! kicking.gifkicking.gif

Getting the interview date always varies. Probably within the next month though. Just keep calling NVC (and now DOS) every single day until you get the good news :)

Thanks Alizon! I hope we can get an interview date in March. :)

Thank Saylin! :) You have been a great help to us at NVC stage. Thanks for always answering my queries. You know what we have been RFE'd regarding the Federal tax returns, and we mailed it on Feb 1 and when my husband called later today, Feb 1, our case is complete. Do you think they will re-open our case the moment they receive our response to our RFE? I hope not.
