So aftefr reading some other post I guess We should wait for a couple of years and then get married. Is that the best way to go?
-
Everything I am doing is on the up and up. it's just that I have never done this before and want to make sure that everything is done right the first time.
-
@ Penguin yes that is what I am talking about. but we have been talking for a while and it will be a while before I will be able to get her here. I first have to save up for everything. I mean It will be about a year before I will have saved up the money for two trips there. so will there be a problem with that?

That's what I found out. but we have to wait till I find another job and go visit a couple of times. Then we plan on getting married and file the CR-1
-
Thanks. like I said we haven't done anything yet to include getting married.
-
non of the children are 18. so we can file CR-1. That's what I needed to know thanks. So is the CR-2 filed the same time as the Cr-1?
-
My fiancee and I have been going over this and I'm not sure if I told her right or not. We haven't filed anything yet. But after she is here about a year we want to file for the kids to come. So will they fall under the CR-1 or do we file under something else? I'm not sure what to do.

That's what I'm doing. I plan on going to see her in Aug. I'm gonna spend 8 days there then come back home and work on all of this. Then maybe go back around Thanksgiving.

Thank you all for the info I wasn't sure about where and how much I had to pay. Thanks once again.

I would like to know how much are the filing fees. do I pay the total here to the NVC or is part of it paid in Jamaica. Some body plz help me out.
-
And that's what we have now. I know to some it may seem strange but we know in our hearts that this is what we want. I'm not trying to look for loop holes. I just want to be well informed so that the process goes smooth with no hang ups

I've had a talk with my lady and although we don't like it we are going to wait. I wanted to be able to bring her here but that seems like hitting ur head on a rock. So I guess instead of making two trips I'll have to make three. I say three coz I'm thinking I'll have to be at the interview for the CR-1. If I'm wrong plz somebody let me know.

ok so rule of thumb what is a goos acceptable amount of time so that the paper work will go thru with no red flags?
-
I'm hearing everything that is said. I also understand what is being said.but if she doesn't have the kids cuz they are with the father then I don't know what else to do. I thank all that has given me advice. And plz don't think that I don't want to hear what is being said it's just I love her and she loves me and we are trying to be together as soon as we can. And want to do it the best way possible. So once again thank you for all the advice that has been given.

ok I understand all that. but I can't afford to keep traveling back and forth. plus my employer wouldn't want to keep giving me time off like that.

On a K1 the kids automatically qualify for a K2 if you list them on the application - so no, it would not be cheaper.
And you are going to have income issues - You are not only sponsoring her, you are sponsoring 3 kids - so an $8 an hour job is probably not gonna cut it.
ok you still have to pay for the kids either way. she will be here for a year or so before the kids can come. she will have a job and will be working too. She's a nurse so the income won't be a problem. not being smart but did you read everything that was said? just asking.

because it would be cheaper to file a CR-1 then we can use the money we save to get her kids here
WHAT TO DO?

My girlfriend and I would like to get married as soon as she gets a divorce. She is here with me in the US on a visitors visa. One of the things I'd like to know is if we get married will she loose her visitors visa? The other is what is the time frame of being in a relationship with respect to Immigration and a bonafied relationship? By the time she gets her divorce and we are ready to marry it will be just inside a year.
