  1. if you only seen your fiance 3x since you started dating is that okay or you should travel more?

If you can travel more that's great if not it shouldn't be a problem. I saw my fiance twice, we took a lot of pictures. I made sure to send pictures, emails, phone records and all that good stuff to make sure that all my basis were covered. You should be perfectly fine as long as you send the evidence. It's always better to have more then not enough! :) Good luck on your journey! ~Nicole

  2. NVC has sent my file to haiti on May 4th

when i called the embassy in haiti they stated that they have not received the file yet---HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THE EMBASSY IN HAITI TO RECEVIE THE FILE? ANYONE NO

Definitely email the embassy in PAP like the person above recommended. I did that and received the packet within a few days and then was able to forward it onto my fiance (now husband) for him to print out and fill out the papers and do the next steps in Haiti. Good luck and congratulations on it being sent to Haiti! ~Nicole

  3. I'm not sure if this would be the proper place for this topic but I didn't know where else to put it. My husband is from Haiti and currently has a 2 year conditional green card. He is wanting to attend school this next fall and has applied for government aid which they said he has a chance of qualifying for it. BUT the only thing is...when we applied for his green card after we got married my parents had to help 'sponsor' him because by immigration standards I did not make enough money this last tax year. So...on the I-485 form I believe it mentions at the end something about if you sign the paper you are responsible for any government assistance if the green card holder gets any or something to that effect and there was other things as well on there. So my question is...IF my husband used that government aid would my parents be held responsible for that?? How would I find that out? Call USCIS? Thanks Nicole

  4. Once I found out that he got the visa I swung in full gear planning with my mom. It was pretty stressful planning everything in such a short amount of time but it was possible! Everything came together, we also had a lot of help too. Ours was pretty small maybe 50-60 people. We wanted it small and personal. I hadn't planned anything before because I didn't want to start buying stuff since we didn't know 100% that he had the visa. Good luck to you! Everything will come together beautifully!

First comes the excitement "We're getting Married"

Then comes the stress " We're getting Married":blink::unsure:

Just wondering what VJers are doing when it comes to that special day. I know some people have all thier wedding plans ready to execute within thier 90 day window and others are still trying to figure it all out.

Take the poll and see how many people feel the same way you do.

  5. you did a great job of covering all of the areas!! Good luck!! Keep us all updated!

Hi guys, so I finally sent in my application, I'm still doing a personal head scan making sure I sent everything.

    my checklist included:

    -cover letter

-the application to receive the emails and text message notification

    -the $340 money order

    -I-129f application

    -supplement to question 18

-passport picture of me, attached to form g325a and my letter of intent

    -same for my fiance

    -naturalization certificate

-copies of my passport showing proof of going to haiti

    -boarding passes, tickets, receipts, etc.

    -pictures with dates and names

-33 pages of call log from an online phone company

    -facebook messages

-emails between myself and a hotel owner in haiti, discussing my plans for our pre wedding honeymoon, in december(if that's any help)

-about 2 months worth of phone cards- about 250 of them

and I think that's about it.

I sent it on wednesday though fedex, so they should receive it in on monday or tuesday.

also I sent it to the lewisville, texas location since fedex is a courrier.

feedbacks, would be great at this point...tell me what you guys think!!!

  6. It was a God thing for us when we went thru all of that. And not everybody's case will be this way but I didn't go for his interview and I did send a letter of intent saying we will get married within 90 days. His visa got approved! Thank God! Now we are on the next phases of getting his status changed and all that wonderful stuff! My prayers are with all of you who are going thru these processes!

  7. PAPUNMANMU, thank goodness you were able to answer this question  because I have no clue. My fiance will be going for his medical as well, what area is the bad area?

    Chynna

I'm am papunmanmu's friend Nicole my husband went to Dr. Jean Hénold Buteau and got his results within a week or so. I just asked him if he was located in a bad aread and my husband said he's not. I know he wouldn't have gone to that doctor if he was in a bad area. We went for the fiance (K-1) visa I'm not sure if there's a difference in the medical exams for the visa you are getting or not. But I pray everything works out great for you guys!

  8. How the heck does packet 3 get to your fiance...In Haiti?

Currently regular post office mail is absolete.

I have downloaded all the forms available to me for packet 3 EXCEPT I am unable to find the medical or the police report form (even from the Embassy website for Haiti). So I am guessing it comes with the original packet 3. That is what I am afraid of...he will never get that, eventually yes but not in 30, 60 or 90 days.

If Haitian mail is that slow and he never gets packet 3 where will he obtain the two forms he needs for the medical and the police check?

Will they be willing to email everything to me or should I explain this to NVC before the approved petition gets transferred to Haiti?

    Thanks in advance

    Chynna

After I found out that all the forms were going from the National Visa Center to Haiti I emailed the US Embassy in PAP and asked them to send me packet 3. They emailed it to me as an attachment that had all the information in. I forwarded that email to my now husband and he printed it out. To get the police record he just took his birth certificate to a police station and asked them for the police records. and then for the medical exam, one of the papers in the attachment in the email that I had explained what to do and gave three different doctors he could go too. He chose one of the three. On the attachment one of the papers has the case number on it he needs to take that. That's a very important paper. He took his passport as well. But I didn't ask for that packet until I got a NOA telling me the papers were sent to Haiti. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

  9. My fiance is in Haiti and they have pretty much NO mail service. I emailed the US Embassy and within a couple of days they emailed me back letting me know that they received my papers from the National Visa Center and also attached packet 3 in the email for me and said I will also be getting a hard copy in the mail. So I just forwarded the email to my fiance in Haiti and he printed it out. So maybe try contacting them through email and see if it can be sent that way. It's worth a try and you will never know until you try! :) I hope that helps!

  10. Actually, On Fox they said that this time it will be much less "shut-downy" than last time. Department of State and Homeland Security will be in full staff which means that this time they WILL process visas and they WILL admit immigrants etc.

In fact, in both of these Departments they considered 85-90% employees essential. In addition, they will process passports with the same pace.

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/04/08/government-shutdown-shutdowny/

I'm sorry I should have clarified myself. I was talking about US Embassy's worldwide will be shutdown except for emergencies. Meaning no visas at those US Embassy's will be issued. They might get accepted here in the states through USCIS or NVC but everything at the US Embassy will be put on hold.

  11. i went 4 times in 2009. and the last time i went that year i went august 1 came back september 10. i was supposed to go back in january but the earthquake hit.

Are they requiring this for everybody in Haiti? Ours is at the National Visa Center right now. I know it's hard to know until the day comes but man...I kind of hope we won't have to go through the dual interview...that's stressful!
