I got the Oath Ceremony letter on August 24th, 2015 and it's scheduled for September 9, 2015 at 8:30 am in Central Islip, NY. Thank God I didn't have to move the date because I'm going to Canada for Labor Day Weekend.and I need my GC to cross the border. I'm exited!!! ???

I have a question. I just have my interview 2 days ago. We're going to Canada for labor day weekend on September 3rd. If I get my oath ceremony scheduled before September 3rd, should I reschedule it again? I think I have to surrender my GC at the oath ceremony, and I need it to travel. How can I reschedule an oath ceremony? Thank you for your help.

I had my interview today in Holtsville, New York. I went with my husband. If you apply based on the 3-year rule, the best think you can do is to bring your spouse because it immediately changes the perception of the IO to a positive outcome. It was scheduled for 10:25 am. I was there at 9:50 am. They called my name at 10:45. Of course my husband wasn't allowed but I introduced him to the IO. The IO was a very nice young girl on her 30s. I took the oath and sat down. She only asked me for my current passport and green card and started off with the questions: What do we call the first ten amendments to the Constitution? the Bill of Rights/ We elect a President for how many years? 4/ What is the name of the Speaker of the House of Representatives now? John Boehner/ Who lived in America before the Europeans arrived? American Indias/ When was the Declaration of Independence adopted? July 4, 1776/ Name one of the two longest rivers in the US? Mississippi. Then the reading question: Who was Abraham Lincoln? and writing one: Abraham Lincoln was the President during the Civil War. She went through the application and asked me the yes/no questions and she made me sign the app. I noticed my file was HUGE. I came with a K1/fiance visa 10 years ago. The IO met her husband online too and got married last year and we were talking about it. What a coincidence! then she said I should have my oath at the end of this month or the beginning of September. I'm so happy!!!

I'm not 100 % sure but based on my interpretation you have to wait on the exact date and then file. If her interview happens within the 90 days she would have to take the regular test and possible face denial. Google and research this rule as it's not really common- there isn't even a form to fill out, you have to put that request in a letter and attach it to the application.
Thank you for your reply. She is going to wait. The Form N-400 Part 2 #12 has the Exceptions from the English language Test.
-
the 90 day rule applies only when you are waiting to become eligible to apply for the citizenship
You have been eligible for at least 10 years, so .. file away
no need to wait
Congrats!
Thank you for your reply. My aunt is 58 and became permanent resident on October 23, 2000. She doesn't want to have her interview in English and is going to apply under the 55/15 year rule. My question is: Does she have to wait until October 23, 2015 to apply? or she can apply 90 days before?
-
Can you submit the N-400 application 90 days before the 15 year GC date (10/23/2000)? Or you must wait until that date to apply? Please let me know. Thank you.

I sent: IRS joint tax return transcripts (2012, 2013, and 2014), copy of our bank statements showing joint account, copy of our driver's licenses showing joint address, copy of health insurance showing me as a beneficiary, copy of car's insurance in both names, copy of the deed of our house in both names.

I am done with the interview. it took 15 mints . The officer was very nice young lady. I was recommended for approval.
Congratulations! I'm happy for you. I can wait for my interview to be done.

"On July 2, 2015, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number NBC*xxxxxxxx. We will mail you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice."
But no notice yet, how long does it usually take them to mail the notice?
In my case, it took 6 days.

Interview Was Scheduled
On June 26, 2015, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400.
KASH2011 I don't know if it's an update. But I'm happy because I'm getting closer to the interview in Long Island, NY.

Ok here is my update. I had my interview today in Atlanta. The initial interview time was 10.15 am, I ended up waiting in the waiting area until 1.45pm until I was finally called. The officer was very nice and the interview itself went by pretty quick. He informed me then that I could still participate in the 2.00pm oath ceremony (which started a little later). So I am officially a US Citizen now :-)
That's amazing!!! Congrats.

Hi guys and gals,
I know this topic has been discussed frequently. However, I have a few specific questions:
A) I received couple of simple speeding tickets since I have been driving here. The last one was in June 2002. I have paid them all but wanted get some documentation regarding that since I have to disclose it and may be asked to show proof that they were paid off. I don't have any docs regarding that as they were more than 13 years old. I called the court and they said they purge records after 10 years.
1) Is there any other way to get documentation for this in Virginia?
2) My driving history with VA DMV goes back to a maximum of 11 years which is clean. Will a certified copy of that constitute proof of payment since license is suspended in VA for unpaid fines.
B) I got pulled over recently for minor speeding but I didn't get a ticket. The officer just asked me to slow down and decided to let me go. Do I need to disclose this in N-400?
C) I have a parking ticket in DC in November, 2012. I have the receipt for payment for this one since it's more recent. To me it seems like a citation even though it's not a moving violation. Do I need to include this?
Thank you in advance.

Hi guys,
I am new to the forum, and I actually do have a question. but I guess I will give my data first.
CG date 07/12/10 I think.
04/13/15 sent my application
05/12/15 fingerprint
I am in NYC.
My concern is that I saw most people received the "In Line" within 2-3 days after fingerprints, but I haven't received any such thing so far.
What exactly is In Line? Is it just a notification by text and/or email saying that you are now in line for interview?
Should I be worried and contact USCIS since it's already June and I haven't heard anything?
Many thanks!
I had to check on USCIS.com Case Status to know my case in line status date. Please go tohttps://egov.uscis.g...atus/landing.do and with your Application No. you'll find out the date.
Good luck!

Hello there!
I had my interview today at the Holtsville office. My interview was scheduled for 2:10pm and I arrived at 1:30pm. I was not aware that my hubby could have accompanied me to the waiting area until I got inside. No biggie; he needed a nap after our long drive so he was doing so in the car.
I was called at 2:15pm and the first question from the officer was "Where is your husband today?" I told him that he was sleeping in the parking lot. I also said that if I was aware that he could come in with me, I would have brought him in. He said, "Ok." I was sworn in and asked for my green card and passport. He then asked for my birth certificate but then he found it in the file. He asked for my tax paperwork for the last three years. He asked me the questions from the N-400 form, then asked me to read a sentence, then write a sentence. He then asked me 6 questions and the only ones I remember right now are:
~ Who is the Chief Justice?
~ How many years do we elect a U.S Representative?
~ Who was the first President?
~ Name one war fought by the U.S in the 1900s?
After the questions, he asked me for proof that my husband and I are still married and living together. Once that was provided, he made the copies, stamped my paperwork approved and handed me the N-652 form where he had checked off "Congratulations! Your application has been recommended for approval."
I just got my biometrics done yesterday at USCIS in Holtsville, NY.
Thank you for your information. I appreciate it very much.
