  1. Hi, well... it's all coming to an end and I will finally be reunited on Sunday

But.. i still have a questions..

I know I am on a CR visa which has to have the conditions removed 90 days before the 2 years. I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

    Q's

    • My IV stamped in my passport express in april next year. I understand that this is just to prove the visa until my green card arrives? But do they update the stamp in my passport?

    • What if i need to renew my passport in a years time, do they put the stamp in the new one?

    • Is my green card my main proof of visa?

    • What kind of rights do I have being conditional? i.e. can they deport me for nearly any reason? what if i got arrested for something minor?

    • Do i continue to go through the foreign person line when I enter the US?

anything else i should be aware of?

    thanks

    Congrats on your approval!

I had my visa approved on Thursday at the embassy and I asked the lady some questions regarding the removal of conditions to prepare myself. Interestingly she told me that I can apply for my 10 year green card after only 9 months of living in the USA. So 90 days before 2 years after my wedding date (6th Oct 2010), not 2 years after my POE which I thought was the case. Just wondering if anyone else had been told this?

  2. Hello,

We just found out yesterday that the October interview dates are all booked at the London embassy, so it looks as though we won't be hearing from the NVC for a while or getting a date earlier than November.

Obviously we weren't happy to hear this news, so we've started to think about ways to see each other if it's going to be another 6-8 weeks until her interview. This morning we came up with the idea of having Holly in the UK come over to visit me in the US for 3 weeks or so in October. It would be great for her to see the house that we've bought and she's never seen, and it would really help us to have some time together.

What do you think -- should we try to have her come to the US for a visit? We know that border control is often very difficult in these circumstances, so obviously we'd get anything and everything we could together showing that she's coming back to the UK, but we don't want to hurt or delay our immigration procedure.

    Any thoughts?

You should be completely fine. I went for a month in May/June between NOA1 and NOA2 and had no problems. Just take some evidence of your return to the UK and if they question you just explain that after all this time and money applying for your visa why would you try to enter fraudulently now!

Re. the interview- I just sent an email to get an earlier date and now have my interview on October 6th instead of 14th. They seem to be fine about you moving the date if you want to get an earlier one eventually.

  3. Well, just to let you guys know, that it works, and I am shocked.

I emailed the London embassy about an hour ago. I just received a reply that they have happily rescheduled my interview to October 5th.

I had no reason, I just emailed and said I'm ready, was it possible.

I'm so happy. As I was quite disappointed with my previous October 20th date. This is a big improvement.

Just wondering which email address you used to contact the embassy? I rang the inquiry line and I think they gave me a different email address than normal as I didn´t have to enter a code. They also said that they don´t have my case details in their system yet- maybe this is why they haven´t replied yet. I´m trying to bring my interview date forward due to work opportunities when I arrive.

  4. But if he doesn't have a record then he can just go and get all of the shots again right? .. and use that as his record at the embassy?

I think thats 3 shots total so I'm guessing thats about 300-350 pounds.

To be honest I don't know whether you can get all the doses of the shots done on one day. However they will give you a print-out of the shots they do, including records from your doctor, to give to the embassy. Sorry not to be of more help. I guess you could ring to ask beforehand so you have an idea before your husband goes.

  5. Did you have to pay double for the MMR shot since you needed 2 doses?

My husband goes Monday and we are strapped for cash so just trying to figure out the price. He thinks he has had his vacs but is having a hard time getting the record so I'm assuming he will have all the required ones again.

I had to pay 35 quid extra for the pleasure. There is also the option to pay 50 quid for an extra blood test to check whether you are immune.

The nurse said a lot of people from the UK have this problem and they definitely want to see the records from your doctor as proof. The issue was that I had had separate Measles and Rubella shots when I was younger, but only one Mumps immunization from the MMR I went to my doctor for in March. The doctor should tell you that you need 2 doses of all three components for the vaccination to be complete.

You should definitely be aware that they wont complete your medical unless you can provide medical records of vaccinations as the US embassy are very strict on this.

Hope you get this sorted and good luck for getting you interview soon.

  6. Woo hoo!!! After all the confusion with the police certificate, one contact with a supervisor and we have CASE COMPLETE. So happy!

Also for those London embassy applicants, I had my medical a couple of days ago and had to have an extra MMR jab. I didn't know before, but apparently we have to have two doses of all the components of the MMR vaccination, which depending on your age, you may not have had automatically. Just to let you all know.

  7. My joint sponsor has mailed their paperwork to hubs, we're now just waiting for that and IV payment to go though. Nail biting time, and I'm seeing so many people with end October interviews, I can't cope - I was hoping to get mid October interview and avoid this horrid cold UK weather!

I was hoping for the possibility of an earlier interview too. We got a RFE last week saying that my PC from Chile (where I lived for 3 years) wasn't in the IV package even though my husband definitely put it in. So frustrating, especially when them 'looking for it' may take '20 days'. I'm worried that if they can't find it it'll delay us even further as I'll have to get another one from the Chilean embassy in London, which takes over a week to book an appointment. Was looking to avoid the winter weather as well!! I also have an audition lined up over there in October for a job which I may miss now.

Hope your paperwork goes through quickly.

  8. Aaagh-we got a RFE on the AVR so got my husband to talk to an operator. They claim that we didn't put my Police Certificate from Chile (I lived there for 3 years) in the IV packet. My husband definitely did, plus translation, plus a copy. He insisted that they are mistaken so they said they would get a supervisor to look over the packet again. How annoying-I'll have to send another copy from here if they continue to claim it's not there. Surely they can't have lost the original, translation and copy.

Also a false RFE for AOS packet-we sent it in the same envelope.

Was hoping not to have any delays. :(

  9. Thanks,

Have you heard anything on your IV package? We sent ours at the same time. I called earlier and nothing, same 20 speech.

I think I am about a week behind you as I sent our AOS late.

I have been reading a few things that surprised me on the London Interviews.

They won't schedule a medical without an interview date? News to me

We need to take our police clearance to the medical. I sent my original, would a copy do, you think?

Would be good to keep each other up to date on the London medicals and interviews.

I rang up and scheduled my Medical for Sept 6th in London a couple of days ago. They just asked for my NVC Case Number and whether I had a police certificate to bring. I live a few hours away from London so wanted to have my medical when I'm due to be there anyway and also when my husband is here visiting. They said a copy of police certificate is fine and a normal UK sized passport photo is also ok. I see no problem in booking it before you get an interview date, especially as lots of trips to London just adds to the overall cost.

  10. I visited my husband in May for a month during our wait for the NOA2 and got through the border control at Tampa airport fine. I had brought a whole folder of evidence that I was going back to England- letter from employer, bank account details, appointment letters for when I returned etc. They never asked for any of it and told me to have a great time. I think it just depends on the officer but if you have evidence with you, you should be fine. Good luck, and hope you have a great time together.

  11. On Monday I sent off my DS-3032 email as soon as I my husband had rung up and got our case number and IIN number. Today I got this reply, which seems similar to the others but appears to say that they have not accepted my agent email...is this because they haven't actually processed our case yet even though we've got both our numbers? We waited 5 weeks from NOA2 to getting our case number and seems as though there's more waiting to be done just as we got excited about things moving along.

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

We updated the email address for this case. Please continue to notify the NVC of any change of mailing/email address, or change in personal situation that may affect the principal applicant's entitlement to a visa.

We are unable to add an agent's information to the case record at this time.

This petition is now eligible for further processing. The petitioner, principal applicant, and/or attorney of record will receive an instruction package regarding further processing of this petition.

If a period of one year passes from the last date of contact with the NVC (by telephone, mail, or email), all submitted fees and documents will expire. If this occurs, your fees will need to be repaid and documents will need to be resubmitted in order to continue the immigration process.

  12. I just returned to the UK after visiting my husband in the US for a month. I had no problem at immigration, they were in fact very pleasant, and our NOA1 came back in March. I took a whole folder of 'proof' that I would be coming back to the UK but only asked me two questions at the border- how long would I be staying and the purpose of my visit. I told the truth and the officer even told me 'to enjoy my visit'. I wouldn't worry about traveling there. As long as you have proof that you're working, which you have, and a return ticket you'll be fine.
