  1. I was actually wondering the same thing about scheduling the medical. The NVC has already reviewed our AOS, and we just sent back our checklist, so I'm assuming that our case will be completed soon at the NVC. I thought about trying to schedule the medical in London now, but I think we are just going to wait until our case is complete first to be safe, as I think that is how they want you to do it.

  2. I appreciate everyone's help, thank you for taking the time to respond. I still am uncertain though.

I don't see why my dad would need to fill out the I-864 since he is a household member. I have my parent's tax returns (including W2's and 1099) for the past three years. Couldn't I just have my mother and father both fill out I-864A's. Their individual W2's for the past three years should be enough to prove their individual incomes, as well as their combined income on the tax return. They are well over the required amount for a household of 4 people, and that's without my income even being considered. Why is it better that my dad fills out an I-864 instead of I-864A? I thought that the difference between the I-864 and the I-864A is that the first is for joint sponsors and the second is for household members. I suppose my father could be a joint sponsor, but why would it be necessary if they've made a slightly easier route to take for household members?

  3. Hello everyone,

I (US citizen) do not meet the income requirements to support my husband, so I was going to use my father's income (we live in the same house, and my parents file their taxes as married, filling jointly... I am listed as their dependent).

I know that I must fill out an I-864.

I was going to list my household size as 3 (since I really only need my father's income, even though my mother lives with us as well).

I then was going to have my father fill out the I-864A and send in his tax information.

    Two Questions:

    1) Am I correct in thinking that my father doesn't have to fill out the I-864, only the I-864A?

    2) Since my parents file taxes jointly, must my mother also fill out I-864A? (and would I need to change household size to 4?)

I found some conflicting and confusing information on the internet, so I'd be very appreciative of any help!

    Thanks,

    Danielle

  4. Hi everyone,

About a week ago I paid the $88 AOS processing fee, and this week I got an email with a notice to pay the $230 Immigrant Visa fee. I've paid both fees now (although the $230 is still "processing"). After I paid the $230 fee, I also got a cover sheet for what I believe is for the IV forms.

I have to wait on a few documents (police cert., military records) before I can send in the IV forms, but can I send in the I-864 now? If so, do I use the same cover sheet? Or do I have to wait for them to send something else?

    Thanks!

  5. The InfoPass was a waste of time. The IO told me I-130 petitions are not processed at the Pitt office. This thread proves otherwise http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/398186-pittsburgh-pa-transfers/ as well as the trend charts from Pittsburgh showing the same positive linear trend present in all other field office trends after August 15. http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=4&office=23&charttype=1

If you live outside the city and the trip to Pitt is a haul, I would pass. I had an InfoPass appointment last fall with an IO in the Pitt office who told me my I-130 was safe to submit despite missing a critical document that we have been unable to obtain. The IO I spoke with today said that approval of my I-130 would not be possible without the missing document. There ya go. Two different answers from the same dang office :bonk:

Ugh. Sorry to hear that! I hope it's something you can easily fix. If you dont mind me asking, what document didn't you submit?

I haven't tried to contact anyone for customer service, but from what I've heard it seems like a waste of time. I'm not too familiar with infopass, is it just a service to set up an appointment with someone at a field office for questions/issues? is it better than the phone service available? I don't need to contact anyone at the moment, but it might be useful to know for in the future. thanks!

  6. Hello,

I am new to this forum. My husband and I were married on Christmas in Cairo, Egypt. I've been getting over some illnesses and am finally getting around to the i-130. I'm trying to figure out what evidence of a bona fide marriage I should actually include with the i-130. A lawyer I spoke to told me to only send our marriage certificate, the passport photos, and my birth certificate. He said all they are looking for is proof a marriage took place and that I should keep all my other evidence to give to my husband in a packet when he will eventually have his interview. But, then another lawyer told me to send other evidence. It seems like there is no clear information on what to include, so what did you all include?

    Evidence I have considered:

    - photos of us (and his family) in Egypt together

    - Visa page of my passport with entry and departure stamp for Egypt

    - plane ticket to Egypt

    - MoneyGram receipt from when he sent me $500

    - screenshots of us Skyping together

    - our Facebook conversations (I have over 900 pages of conversation between us)

    - a Christmas card my friend sent me that mentions Ahmed and I and my trip to Egypt

    - affidavits from my family (although with such a recent marriage I don't know how much weight these would have, I've thought about sending those with him to the interview)

Unfortunately we don't have actual Skype records because we use Skype through Facebook and that doesn't leave a record.

    Any help is appreciated :)

I'm not sure how necessary it is, but I did include some evidence with mine such as: joint bank account papers, 6 photos, flight records, a couple samples of our skype logs, wedding catering bill, etc. I just made sure that I had copies of everything I sent in, in case we need it later. And I didn't send in anything that I wouldn't want to lose. My advice would be to send in a few things, as it can't really hurt, just don't make it too bulky or unorganized (900 pages of conversation would be way too much in my opinion). I have read about some other people on here who got their petition approved with minimal evidence though. Good luck!

  7. Hi, I've sent in an I-130 for my husband the end of January, and got my NOA1 on Feb 7, 2013. I live just outside of Pittsburgh, so I'm pretty sure that this would be the nearest field office. Just curious though, did they explicitly tell you that your case will be sent to the Pittsburgh office? I'm trying to figure out where mine might end up. So far it only says it was routed to the NBC.

  8. Hello,

My fiance is from the UK and I'm from the US. We would like to get married in the UK, and then have another ceremony or reception for my family in the US. We considered marrying in the US first, but it's just more convenient for us and our families to be married in the UK. The only problem is being able to return to the US (where we want to live). If he gets a fiance visa, but then we marry before he enters the US, will he still be able to enter the country?

I know we could get a spousal visa, but i don't want to wait months after we get married to come back to the US. Is there anything we can do? What if he tried to get a work visa? Would they let him enter if we were married but he had a work visa? Thanks so much for your help.

  9. My fiancee will be moving here from the UK at the end of July (2012), and we plan on having a wedding in August (2012). I've read that the visa takes about 7 months to obtain, but once it's approved, how long will it be good for? In other words, how long does he have to come to the US once he's approved? I'd like to know so I can figure out when to apply for the visa. Thanks!
