  1. Hi guys!

It's really frustrating that CSC is taking so long to approve some cases. My case was transferred on the Dec 27th and nothing!

1)They don't provide any information about how long the I-485 (CSC) is taking to get approved.

2)What make me more upset is that cases that require interview are going much MORE faster than the ones that don't require it.

3)Based on visajourney http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aoslist.php?vtype=&op8=All&xfr=1&op1=&op2=&op3=&op4=1&op5=5%2C6%2C8%2C9%2C10%2C11&cfl=0, just look how many transferred cases were approved in the last weeks!!!

    This is really seriously ridiculous.

I sent a letter to the office in Laguna Niguel (and this office isn't even listed on USCIS website!) and they return to me a letter explaining about how can get information about the process by calling the Costume Service or just looking online. It was a waste of time, because of course I called them and looked for online timelines, but it wasn't helpful at all. They just don't provide this information.

Only God knows when me and other people will get their greencard.

I guess my plans for going to college are ruined! Thanks to USCIS.

    :/

  2. Hey all, new here. My fiance and I are just starting the F1 visa journey, should be fun...not, lol. I am American, she is Filipina. We've known each other for going on 2 years. We've met in person twice, once in May in Manila and in July in Bangkok. I've met her family and we are very much in love.

She has never been married, no kids, no criminal record. I am divorced, with 3 grown kids, no criminal record.

I interviewed several immigration lawyers, I live in the DC/Balt area. I have chosen Matthew Glinsmann of Gaithersburg. His firm is high recommended. I had an initial meeting and went over all particulars. Got a good vibe from him, the only thing is the fees..the seem high, but maybe not. He charges a little over 4k to secure the F1 visa, then more if we do the green card once here.

I don't mind paying for excellent service, but man, that seems a lot, but is it worth it? Do we need to go this route? Any advise would be helpful.

    F1 OR K1?

    Lawyers are for troubles.

  3. Hi everyone..maybe you ca helpd me understand what is going on here....I thought when you get an NOA2 it went straight to the National Visa Center...On my NOA2 it says it was forwrded straight to the consulate listed. So i thought hmm, and called NVC, and the lady told me if your NOA2 says that then it did not come to them, but straight to the embassy.. Has this ever happened to anyone and if so why did it skip NVC (not that am complaining..just curious)

Hello, I had the same NOA2 and It went to the NVC! I was confused too and we call them, and they said the same as what they said for you. Some other people on NVC just thought our process had something wrong... But Actually, nothing wrong. They just don't have this information.

  4. Hi guys,

My K-1 interview is on Tuesday (the 19th), in Rio. I hadn't given my clothes any thought at all. I work from home and I'm extremely casual, and my lawyer (yes we have a lawyer -- long story, we really needed one in our case) had said to just wear whatever I was comfortable with because it totally didn't matter, as long as I was well groomed and not wearing makeup (which I don't do anyway).

So I had chosen a (nice) pair of jeans, a white t-shirt and a denim jacket and my best sneakers (black leather Nikes, brand new). Now I am reading all over the place that I should wear dress shoes and that jeans are a terrible idea. I don't even own (nor can I afford at this point) dress shoes or fancy pants. I'm an artist and I just had to pay all those fees + the trip to Rio (I'm in Sao Paulo), I'm completely and utterly broke. Am I screwed? Are they going to think I'm some kind of hobo? Is there anything I can do about this? Would a nicer shirt improve the situation?

Please help! I'm so freaked out right now, I'm shaking.

Hello! my thoughts for you is to dress like you are going to visit your grandmother ;)

Portuguese: Meu conselho é que você poderia se vestir como fosse visitar sua avó. Depois me avisa como foi sua entrevista.

  5. Hey everyone,

New to this site. So please excuse my ignorance!

First off, my American girlfriend and I are NOT engaged.

We have been together since February of 2009.

She is with me in Ireland at the moment. Just visiting.

She is leaving on Sunday and I am going to visit on Sept 1st on the Visa Waiver Program.

We have decided to take the next step in our relationship and go down the K-1 Visa route.

We will be meeting a lawyer to discuss our position when I visit in September.

Question: Can she file the I-129f once she gets home?

Will this affect me when I enter the country on Sept. 1st? (Will my name show up at my POE as having been petitioned for a visa?)

Is it better to wait until I get to America, and THEN file the I-129F?

Remember we're still not actually engaged yet!

    Please help!

Man, k-1 visa takes like 8 months... It's very hard to the consulate give her (or him) a visa while working on the process. Just think about it a lot. We made this mistake of waiting to be "engange" to apply for k-1 visa...

  6. im sorry but i dont get the point of this post.NVC is as bad as USCIS? coming from a member who got to nvc within 3 months it makes zero sense.to get a reality check you might wanna check out some of the members on this site that are on their 7th or 8th month dealing with USCIS.i realize every day spent away from your loved one feels like ten years, but lets be logical and fair

The point on this post is because average time is 2 to 11 days, not months like USCIS! People got NOA2 in 5-6 months, and they have to wait 1,2 or 3 months to NVC RECEIVE a mail and forward to consulate?

  7. and what problem would that be?

The problem is that our NOA2 said: Petition approved, forwarded to the listed consulate (and there´s nothing listed).

They dont say it´s going to NVC, like the others NOA2 I have seen on visajourney...

Yes, usually only a quick stop but some cases are pulled for "additional Processing" which can delay the forwarding to the consulate by seversl weeks (in our case it was delayed 50 days).

Did they tell you that it was in additional process?

  8. The NVC is only a mail stop for K visas, the NVC will receive the file and only do the following 2 things:

    1. Assign a case number
    2. Send it to the appropriate Embassy or Consulate

The case number you received was likely from the NVC, not USCIS.

Despite what your notice says, USCIS never sends anything to a Embassy or Consulate directly.

Thanks for answering... I read some other people had the same problem as me.

    It´s very weird..

  9. Thank you all you guys. I got the answer. My case was recived by NVC yesterday (NOA 2 ON 2/2 & NVC Received on 2/8) & the lady said it will go out on next tuesday which is the 15th. Wow...nice. I wonder how the lady i talked to can say those things with so much confident! She said i will get a letter soon by mail...This is good & moving now.

Hi! I got the same thing in the NOA2!

I am just wondering, is everything ok?

  10. On June 17 I had my petition approved (NOA2).

    Here's what the petition says:

"The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance, or if you would like them to forward the petition to a different consulate. The petitioner can also file form I-294 Aplication for Action on an Approved Aplication or Petition, with this office to request that we notify another consulate of the petition approval for visa proccessing purposes. THIS FORM IS NOT A VISA AND MAY NOT BE USED IN PLACE OF A VISA.

    ....."

    1) I am calling NVC they don't have our process. Actually, I do think they will not send to NVC...

    2) I've received another case number from USCIS.

    3) Listed Consulate? There's nothing there!

Does anyone can help me with this problem?
