All,
For those of you whose spouses did not speak English (or did not speak it very well) before they got here, how did they overcome (or are overcoming) the ESL barrier when they arrived and what helped them to become accustomed to US culture? I would like to hear all of your experiences.
Thanks

All,
A few years ago I had petitioned for a K1 visa for my foreign fiance and during the process things did not work out between us. I called the consulate to ask them to stop the process (and they said to send them a letter, which I did) and that was the last I had ever heard of it. I didn't think anything of following up on the process since I was planning never to go through that again. Well, I met someone else in the same country a while back and we are starting to get serious.
Has anyone here been through a situation similar to mine? Did you receive some sort of notice regarding the cancellation of the first visa (after sending the letter)? Were there any problems in applying for a second K1? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
I did but mine was still at the USCIS and had not progressed to the consulate.... No issues on second petition/application were encountered.
fwaguy,
Thank you. What did you put as your answer under the part of the I-129F where it asks if you had petitioned before? Did you just put your ex's name and that the process had been canceled?
Thanks

Diana,
Your situation is exactly the same as ours is going to be. Our entire relationship is in Spanish and my amorcita has never been to the US. I am glad to hear that it got better for your husband. Thank you for the advice/life example.
